I'm Hailey and I'm from San Jose, CA. I graduated from West Valley College (2018) with an AA in Liberal Arts, UCLA (2020) with a BA in Applied Linguistics, and The University of Memphis (2023) with an MA in Speech-Language Pathology. I currently work as a Speech-Language Pathologist serving elementary students in the Memphis metro area.
I went from being rejected by every single college I applied to as a high school senior, to accepted by every single college I applied to as a community college transfer student. Doing a complete 180 in my education has inspired me to help others do the same. As a community college student, I always felt there was a lack of readily available info about transferring, so I'm using this channel as a platform to fill this gap. Subscribe to hear my advice, get the insider experience, and have your questions answered by someone who has successfully navigated the CC/transfer system!

I completely agree with you on that one. I started community college at age 18. However, I did not complete with my college degree until age 25. It was because I had to take courses little by little due to the move and the COVID pandemic. I was always a part time student from community college. I have been a part time student at a community college for 7 years. For right now, I am in university as a part time student. I still living with my parents. I am 26 years old. I started to be a student at university at age 25 working on my Bachelor of Arts program in Communication and Media Studies as I said before. I enjoyed community college so much. I have been to three different community colleges as I said before. It took me 6 years to complete with my Associate of Arts degree. I enjoyed watching your video because it is very helpful to me. I know that everyone has their own pace of learning and studying. Your video has very great content. During my first time at a community college, I was going to study IT major. Due to my placement test scores were very low for reading and writing, I switched my major from IT major to Business Management as my diploma. While I was Permanent Changing Station to another state, I decided to work on my Associate of Arts program in General Studies (Liberal Arts) at age 19. Back in community college, I switched my major two times in a row. Also, I switched my minor at university as well. I enjoyed college so much. Again, I enjoyed watching your videos; it really helps a lot. I am going to be working on my Master of Arts degree in Screenwriting at age 30. Hope everything is well with you. It was chatting with you again. Good luck with everything you do. God bless you and your family. 🙏❤️
Good morning Hailey! It has been a while since 2-3 years ago. I just completed with my Associate of Arts degree in General Studies (Liberal Arts) at Valencia College in May 2023. I just started working on my Bachelor of Arts program in Communication and Media Studies at Fayetteville State University in August 2023. Back in November 2022, I just started applying for Fayetteville State University and Methodist University at the same time. I was going to attend Methodist University, but it was too expensive. That was why I was meant to study at Fayetteville State University. I graduated from Valencia College with a 3.21/4.0 GPA. I am so glad that I improved my grade point average. I was on the Dean’s List four times in a row at Valencia College. It took me 6 years that I completed with my Associate of Arts degree because I was a part time student at a community college. My minor used to be Creative and Professional Writing, but for right now is Theatre. Journalism and theatre are something I am passion in. I just become an author this past November. My book title is called “My Life Journey with Autism as a Military Child”. It is available in Amazon. It is in Spanish and English. Thankfully, I do not have to attend school for becoming an author. I am going to school for becoming a journalist and actor on TV. I just moved back here to North Carolina due to military orders of my dad. It will not be that long. Next year, I will be moving back to East Orlando. I will transfer my college credits from Fayetteville State to University of Central Florida to complete with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism while minoring in Theatre as well. I will be completing with my Bachelor of Arts degree in December 2026. I supposed to be graduating with my Associate of Arts degree in December 2022, but my credits got messed up at the time. That was why I had wait until a semester after to complete with my Associate of Arts degree. While I graduated from Valencia College, I just received a Latin American Organization stole, my business club cord, with my own stole of half Colombian and half Puerto Rican flag. I also wore a green cord while my dad was deployed during my college career. I am so glad that I made it to my Bachelor of Arts program in Communication and Media Studies major at age 25. Everyone has their own pace of learning and studying. For right now, I am working on my second book that is called As a Military Child with Autism while Adjusted to New Places. It might have the same content as my first book, but different chapters and introduction. Hope you enjoy reading my story about the accomplishments I have been through. I enjoyed watching your video because it is very helpful to me. Your video has great content. God bless you and your family. 🙏❤️
Hi, thank you for your video! My daughter is a transfer student from west valley college this coming fall 2024, I want to know how is student housing off campus is like? in term of distinct, cost and is it safe? how far is the apartment to walk to campus or you have to drive to campus?? is it traffic?? I'm worry, my daughter did not get housing on campus, she got off campus.
Thank you sista💜🤙
Tecnically there's no age limit at University (or any educational institution) either
There’s 3 quarters in the year? How can that be?
Thanks for your help ❤️
Is it better not to do any linkedin until we have more interesting details to write on it ?
I am currently attending a cal state but my dream school is UCLA. However, I am already going to complete my sophomore year this semester, Do you think transferring to a community college for my junior year and doing the TAP program would be a good idea to get into UCLA for my senior year at least. PLS if anyone can assist with this question that be so helpful I am so confused on what to do lol.
Hello, thanks for the videos. Are Headsets allowed during the GRE test at home? I mean in a situation where your computer does not have an inbuilt microphone.
What about Federal pell grant and Cal grant?
Strange. I thought the waitlist isn't actually a "list" but rather a pool of students. Or is that just for UC Irvine?
It depends on what you’re going to do for work . An associates degree really depends off what you’re going to do with it . Certain jobs still look at an associates degree . Real estate , business These two fields will take an associates degree holder .
Hey! are associate degree and 3 years of undergraduate degree the same?
What subject do you recommend if I will come
Do I have to bring my own curtains??
Can a student take courses over summer in between junior and senior year to ensure they can graduate on time? I am just worried about being able to get classes since you mentioned this is a challenge.
thank you for sharing that you did not get into any college that you've applied to. I got waitlisted for 3 and still waiting. but being rejected by 22 colleges really hurt...
Are you strong physically
Hi Hailey, can I go to community college as a foreigner if I just finished 10th grade and i am only 17 years old?
how fast do classes fill up for first year students?
Do I need a camera to do online classes? And do I get to choose when to go to campus and when I stay home for hybrid (online) classes?
I froom Mexico..mi tu want it college for English!
Hello ma'am. I didn't find a video like you so beneficial. My associate is Economics but my bachelor will be Computer engineering. Will I run into problem because of this and can't get a job? Does employers care about this? Please answer me like someone you care about.🙏 And do you suggest me maam to let go of bachelor and don't finish it? Do you consider it not worth it??🥺
What top of jobs you can get with associate degree? So I can tell my daughter because she just had a baby and what’s a job that she can work from home
Do you know Tim Hunter?
I think those who are taking associate degree within 2years kinda ok for them if the program is mostly intership and theory related not lab, computer sort of things.. Whats ur point about hotel management or restaurant management degree for 2 years.? I mean those who are seeking course or job related not wanting a Higher bachelor or doctorates degrees.. Certain fields requires real life experience..
I started watching my your channel back in 2019, just wanted to say thank you for all of your amazing information on community college and the transfer process in general. You provided some of the best tips and insight on the entire experience overall. I can proudly say that I was also accepted to UCLA as a transfer but I have yet to finish my degree. Regardless of my current circumstances, you were and are a major inspiration to all of us community college transfer students. Hope you’re doing great, God bless!
California Parent. Thank you for the information, the UC System should compensate you. Their information is convoluted by design. Thanks for the breakdown
Thanks so much for watching!
Hi Hailey any new upcoming videos? While we, those who applied to UC await for decisions.
Stay tuned!!
Today is the first day of the term, and I am waiting here on campus to get my senior citizen tuition credit. I am 71-years-old, a retired soldier and disabled veteran. Winners never quit!
Amazing! Love to hear this!!
Hey Hailey, can I ask a question? As an student needing a visa to study after getting transferred, is the pre-major an official university acceptance? I have two courses that couldn't be found in any community college, and I need to finish that during the first quarter at a UC, I was just worried if I'm gonna need to explain to the people at the Visa office about my "half-acceptance" and that doesn't look good. Does your UCLA offer say it's a pre-major acceptance only(and that you have to finish xxxxx to get officially accepted?).
Also(sorry for so many questions), would you recommend to prioratize IGETC or pre-major courses? Becuse I have limited time, and I have very few overlaps between the two, but I want to show my passion on my major (Business).I researched about the IGETC certificate? If I finish IGETC prior to applying, would you say the IGETC certificate would add highlights to my application although I don't have much credits from the particular business and statistics field?
@@DiMiLi9734 Hi, premajor acceptance is still full acceptance into the university. It just means that you are conditionally allowed to enter that major. Also, you ideally you will have both IGETC and premajor coursework completed, but if you must make a decision between the two then premajor coursework is more important because it is an indication of how you will perform in the major.
@@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege Thanks!Very helpful
And I’m really happy for you 🥹
This was insightful I appreciate the video thanks 🙏 I’m going for winter classes I have a meeting with a counselor wish me luck !!
Hope it went well! Thanks for watching
Can you tell me about SMC?
I didn't attend SMC so I don't really know much about it. Definitely check out their website and social media for more info.
I am currently attending George Mason University with the same financial aid process. The differences between community college and a 4 year institution is you don’t get any refund back from the financial aid you received in the semester.
I went to nova community college because my high school gpa was low.
Good Advice !
thank you for watching
your responses make me want to give up.
if you never try you'll never know
While I applaud your effort, this type of information should be delivered from a trained counselor who stays up to date on all the detailed complexities of how to transfer and what will count for credit and what will not.
I am a bit confused i selected my major as computer science in deanza college for spring 2024. classes start from april but orientatation is in march. my q is that when will i select classes ? Can i select classes on orientation day or will i be late. plz reply since i am in international student

Hi Hailey, thanks, for sharing this video being that I am an older college student. I am currently applying for a transfer to a UC for Fall 2024. Do you have any new upcoming videos on the UC PIQ (personal insight questions) tips and advice? I know you probably did a video on this topic before. Just wondering if you may do another video to add any other advice or tips since the end of this month is the deadline for transfer students to submit their UC apps. Thank you.
Hi! I have multiple videos on PIQs that you can access by looking at the UC Application Advice playlist on my channel. The advice given in those videos still applies. I don't plan on making any new videos about PIQs but I am offering my editing service until Nov. 20th if you are interested.
@@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege Ok. Thanks, for your reply. I am in the process of answering the PIQ questions. I am thinking about using your editing service once I have completed my responses. Thank you.
I was accepted to UCLA... However, I opted to attend Stanford my dream school .... Also was accepted to couple Ivy as well.... The bottom line is UCLA is highly selective at the Top Tier level , if not more
Stanford is a great school! Always loved that beautiful campus
Quarter system: yo you say you do understand the stuff? Haha. Here’s a test. Semester: you still don’t get it? Ight bet. I’ll give you a week and a half.
pretty accurate tbh
You were so helpful when I first started community college a few years ago. Glad to see more videos.
I'm so glad to hear that! Thanks for watching
Hi there i have a question can we do it on zoom
Hi, feel free to leave your question here
What does billable contact hour mean?I am new to the country and very unfamiliar with American education system.Does 1 contact hour mean 1 credit
I've never heard the term billable contact hour so I don't know
Hi, thank you for the video. I need a clarification on the due dates. I just submitted the TAG application and my question here is, do I need to submit the regular Uc application by September 30? Or am I allowed to submit the regular Uc application by November 30th?
The regular application must be submitted by November 30th.
@@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege Thank you so much for your reply. I have one more question to ask. My major is nursing, but the TAG has no option with nursing for UCI, so I applied for a Chemistry major for UCI TAG. For the regular UC application, is it possible to put the major in nursing and an alternative major as chem? Do I have to make the UC application major a chem to match the TAG application?
Hi Hailey, I am a cc student who is applying to transfer next year. My school offers students study abroad trips and I was wondering if I should go on one? I am a anthropology major.
That's up to you! I've never done study broad but I've heard good things!
This video was so helpful. Can international students apply to honors colleeg? I wanna apply to the Lonestar cc honors program
Any student who qualifies may apply
