Can you get into a UC school? + My stats and how I got into UCLA

There is no way to predict whether you will be admitted or rejected, but here's a little-known trick to see how you stack up against others. It's called the Profile of Admitted Students. It provides admit rates and average GPAs by major, school, community college, etc. for the past few years. Most schools have this available on their admissions websites.
I am also discussing my own GPA, essays and extracurriculars at the time of my admission. If you're not familiar with my story, I was denied from every college I applied to in high school. I went to community college for 3 years, applied to UCLA, Berkeley, Davis, San Diego and Santa Barbara and was accepted by all of those schools. I graduated from UCLA in 2020 with a degree in Applied Linguistics and now I am applying to grad school to become a Speech Language Pathologist. I hope my story can help you.

Great advice! I also think essays are super important when it comes to the UC applications. I'm in the process of editing a video comparing my essays from the year I was rejected and the year I was accepted because there is a stark difference between the two and that's definitely where you need to put in a lot of effort during the application process

Great video!! Good morning, it's pleasure to meet you. My name is Andres by the way. I'm also still in a community college, and I've been studying for 5 years. During my community college experiences, I had to take courses little by little due to my moving and struggle. I'm taking one course at a time due to the pandemic. Once I complete my AA degree in general studies, I will be in a BA degree in radio TV and journalism at university over here in Florida. At age 5, I had to leave the small town of New York due to being a military child. I lived in 5 different states for 2-3 years, Virginia for 6-7 months, and Puerto Rico for a year. You did a great job in your community college stats by the way. I grew up with a Spanish speaking family that are from Colombia and Puerto Rico. I speak Spanish and English. I'm still improving my Spanish to become a fluent speaker. I learned Spanish in my junior and senior year of high school. I started to do better with my Spanish in my grammar book, computer, watching Spanish program in TV, and by listening to Spanish speaking families' conversation. I'm trying to work on getting a 3.0 or above gpa to transfer my CC credits to university over here in Florida. I've been to 3 different community colleges. I was a top 10% of my high school graduation class. I'm not trying to brag about it. Once I apply for universities, I will chat about my stats video of high school and community college. I'm from Puerto Rico because of my mom, and I'm half Colombian because of my military dad. He is not technically my birth dad, but he is my dad cause I grew up with him. I was diagnosed with autism at age 3. For right now, I'm 23 years old. It took me 4 years to complete my freshman year college credits. I'm going to attend to a TV school to learn about a job in music and film industry. Television is my dream career. My dream career is to be a actor, singer, broadcast, film, journalist, and author on television. My back up plans are working at a clothing store, office store, TJ Maxx, and target. Again, you did a great job in sharing your content. It's pleasure to meet you, Hailey. My name is Andres by the way. Good luck at UCLA. God bless you and your family.

I got into UCLA last year as a transfer. I committed, but with the pandemic and the uncertainty about going to campus, I ultimately decided to stay at my cc an extra year. I'm applying again (because I'm dumb and didn't realize I could request a deferral instead), so fingers crossed. I'm a 4.0 English major with publications, awards, and two relevant jobs. I feel hopeful, but you never know.

Hey there, so let me start off by saying that I usually never give my opinion on people’s personal situations (bc it truly isn’t relevant), but I just wanna say that I think you made the right decision. If I was in your shoes I would’ve done the same thing. Trust me, this past year of online learning has been a miserable experience, so paying the high UCLA tuition rates and not even getting the UCLA experience would’ve been a total waste. I’m sure it wasn’t an easy decision for you and you probably caught a lot of flack. Being admitted the a second time around will probably be pretty tricky. Whether you end up going to UCLA or not, I think you will be a lot better off and happier for not subjecting yourself to Zoom university. Kudos to you, congrats on getting in the first time around and good luck!!

Hey me too I got pretty good grades in semester 1 but now I have 1 D (in semester 2) and I am REALLY stressed about it. I really want to know the answer to the first question. But for the second question, UCs look at everything from 9th grade SUMMER to the end of junior year. However UCLA and UC Berkley do look at freshman grades as those 2 colleges are very intense, but they don't put that much weight on it. I'm not sure what is changing because of COVID. Can someone answer that? What does a D do to my chances of getting into a UC?
