I personally feel that I can best use my platform to get these issues in front of a wider audience. as an Asian woman who doesn't face racially-biased police brutality, I'm not here to drown out those with more expertise on these issues. I'm here to amplify a cause that we can all work to help! please check out this link to learn more about what you can do, no matter how little time or money you may have to give. blacklivesmatters.carrd.co you can sign petitions, donate, call your reps, & learn about the issues! even if you personally cannot afford to donate, you will be supporting the cause by simply watching this video! to maximize the ad revenue, I would appreciate if you could turn off AdBlock, watch the whole video, and avoid skipping ads. Well I saw a girl who got a 1300 and a girl that got a 1440, the girl with a 1300 got into Princeton and Harvard. And the girl with a 1440 got into Stanford. They did the same amount of ec’s as the girl in this video and their marks on their AP exams weren’t perfect I remember the Stanford girl getting a 2, and the Harvard girl got mostly B’s in her last year of high-school, also they weren’t rich so they couldn’t buy their way in. Sometimes what the admission officers are looking for is a specific personality, the girl in the video seems like a perfect UCLA student and fits right in and the girl that got into Princeton has the perfect Princeton attitude.

Don't tell yourself that. As someone with almost 30 years of living experience, unless you have abusive parents (emotional abuse counts btw), your family doesn't think that about you. No one actually thinks that about you unless you're a legit loser who has no ambition to improve in life. THAT'S a failure. 99% of you (including Jasmine) are too young to even be failures at life lmao! However, it's good that you acknowledge that you can improve as a person. We ALL can. But self-improvement doesn't start with self-hate. Acknowledge your problem areas, then actively try to work on them. No one asks you to be perfect, because it's not real. All we ask is for you to try your best in what you do, and to attempt to better yourself as a person. That's literally it. Don't make it harder than it has to be. Take it from someone who's been there, done that, for 29 years.

Congratulations! Here in Portugal getting into a university is much simpler than in the USA. It's only based on your high school average and a few of the exams we have to take. It's a good system because discrimation can't happen, but it's also bad because some people that have the dream for a certain course and can't get in by a few decimals...

oh wow! yeah there are so many systems, and all have the pros and cons. sending love to you in Portugal :)
do colleges really care about AP classes? Like my school doesn’t really let us choose what AP classes we get, we just get chosen based on recommendation and if we are eligible, academically, to be part of that class. But I already have very high grades, so what that make up for it??
@staciii

The main purpose of taking AP classes is so you can pass your AP exam to not have to take the class again when you're in college and waste money and time.
@gracelandghosts
4 жыл бұрын
i think ap classes are more a financial situation. they help save many by having you take the college class in high school to earn college credits and to help you save time and money. i could be wrong but i personally think it looks better to have very high grades in a regular course rather than low or medium grades in an ap course.

Got accepted to Columbia University. AP classes demonstrate that you can handle the college level courses, showing Universities that you will have an easier time to adjust to college rather than a person that has NOT taken AP classes.

Congratulations, Jasmine! Such an authentic video, a great guide for others. I've used your videos and advice in buying a kit of materials for my niece as a middle school graduation present as she goes into HS, and she's just yesterday got accepted to a business-oriented HS. (And that includes your book, which I highly recommend!!!!!!!!) TBH, the main thought that I couldn't get away from as this video developed, is how you possibly could have been rejected by any college/university, no matter what their process or standards was. I was also curious if, besides showing samples of your calligraphy/bullet journaling, if you actually did any of the application using your calligraphy/lettering as opposed to typing it up. Blessings and best of luck to you at UCLA and beyond. So great that you are using your channel as a way to help others!
