    I’ve just been watching SLP related videos and I stumbled upon yours! Congratulations, first off, for getting into and committing to grad school! Im a sophomore in college and also hoping to become and SLP. I’m actually from around the same as you haha. The college I go to doesn’t offer a CSD major so I’m also going to have to go the “untraditional” route with getting to grad school. I’m majoring in psych and Spanish and I’ve been able to take a lot of linguistics courses through those departments. I’m going to give U of M a look because I haven’t really heard of it before but it sounds like an amazing program! Good luck with everything!

    Heeeey Hailey! I completely understand you. I attended the CSULA preview week and their presentation was lacking enthusiasm. I'm glad I got accepted but I also got accepted to other CSU's. It really left a bad taste 😑. On the other hand, CSUN has been so informative and welcoming but it's far for me. I'm still waiting for UCLA. I got accepted to UCR but their financial package was not that great 😔. If I go to CSULA it's closer and affordable. Anyone wants to drop their two cents, please do lol Congratulations 🎉 please keep us posted! Wishing you more success!

    Hi there, congrats on your acceptances! That's super exciting. UCLA is notorious for being the last of the UCs to send out there decisions so I'm sorry to hear that you're still waiting. I hope everything works out for you. Either way I'm sure you'll make the right decision for yourself. Fingers crossed for you!

    Hi Andrea, that's awesome! Long Beach has a great SLP program. The only school I applied to that required an interview was Cal State East Bay. As far as your second question goes, it's really just the luck of the draw. SLP is a very competitive field. I was both accepted and rejected at various schools. Thanks so much for watching.

    I ended up going to Redlands for my SLP program as an out of field! Yes, it is so expensive, but the class sizes are small so you do get a lot of attention and support. But geez, that cost feels criminal sometimes.

    Hello, I am not sure which test you are referring to. Regardless, the only source for this information is going to be the admissions website of the school. It's probably too early to tell to be honest. I doubt they have made any decisions about the upcoming admissions cycle.

    Are all, every single one of the schools you applied to, able to let students who are admitted, even without a csd bachelors, in, to the masters program through making up the classes needed through which way(s) for each school ? Example: (examples, only, could be right or wrong) SDSU: through summer Memphis: throughout the program or summer East bay: Etc: Etc:

    You mentioned that at the university of Memphis, it is going to take two years to get your masters. Is that including the out of field leveling year?

  • @HaileyDollarGoesToCollege

    @HaileyDollarGoesToCollege

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Alexis, it's not a leveling year in the traditional sense as the courses are built into the regular curriculum. Out of field students are in the same classes as those with CSD background, and taken an additional class during the school year. Some students have to taken phonetics and language development the summer before. The total for the program is 2 years + 1 semester.

    There is so much that goes into choosing a school than its rank or reputation; chiefly, the alignment of the school with your specific needs and interest. Anyway, the number you cited is likely the acceptance rate for undergraduate students. Admissions for SLP programs are highly competitive and the acceptance rate for the cohort at UofM is slightly above 40%.

    Also important to look at more than just acceptance rate or total school rank when talking about rankings. Especially grad school, but undergrad as well. University of Memphis is ranked 31st in the country for SLP. Right below Columbia and before University of Michigan according to US News
