Community college students, this video is for you. I know you're thinking about ways to increase your transfer chances and make your application as appealing as possible. But there are a few things I would like to warn you about. Are there some clubs you recommend at community college specifically for a business major? Also, I heard that business econ at UCLA is just econ with a few accounting classes and I am hoping to transfer to UCLA as a pre-business econ major in the near future. Because of this, would working part time/full time at an accounting firm as an extra curricular be the best way to show major preparation aside from getting good grades? Thanks :)

Hi Justin! Each community college will offer its own unique selection of clubs. As I mentioned in the video, there is no cookie cutter way to go about community college or transferring. If something interests you, then I'm sure it would be worth your while to research/pursue it. Figure out what your passions are and don't be afraid to forge your own path! You got this.

First of all, nice video! I’m totally binge watching all your videos for advice. If you could answer this question I’d really appreciate it! I’m applying to transfer soon but I haven’t even started CC because I’m finishing my credits in one year. Due to COVID and lack of experience in CC (since most people get at least year in community before they apply to transfer) I really don’t know what to talk about in my application. Do you think it would be okay to talk about high school extracurriculars and stuff? I’m not sure how the admissions office looks at grades or the extracurriculars I’ll start later this year (when my application has already been turned in) cuz I don’t have much done yet.

Hi Lin, there's no way to say for certain, but I am fairly confident that if you apply to a school with zero grades on your transcript, your application will be rejected. If you have nothing to show for your academic performance, then the admissions committee will have nothing to base your future success on, and therefore will likely be unable to make an informed decision about you as an applicant. I strongly urge you to reconsider this plan.

Hi I’m starting community college this fall. I’m kind of nervous about making friends because my classes are online and it’s gonna be difficult ☹️

I’m working over 20 hours a week and I’m gonna take 12 units next semester. Do I still need to join clubs?? I’m gonna apply next fall as an anthro or history major so I’m stressed😩 I’m also taking an honors class and I’m wondering if those are important on your application. I love your videos :)

The decision to join is highly dependent on your personal situation. Only you can determine if they are right for you! Keep in mind that there is no single track that will get you into a school. Individual experience is valued in the admissions world.

College culture is so delusional and stupid IMO. All this work and hoping just for most likely a worthless major and prestige.

I think people can often go to college for the wrong reasons as you might have alluded to but for some, their major and career is required for what they want to accomplish in their life (grad, med school etc.)

@@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege tell me the dollar amount that you're making now. because that's all that matters after k-12, cruddy part time jobs, UCLA, then student debt. if it's unimpressive, it wasn't worth it. let's be real.
