I am looking at what possibility there would be for more transcultural education. In America, we don't have enough of it. Ostracized native Americans were here long before colonists. Somehow the Appalachian population became segregated and stigmatized. African Americans were slaves and kept from assimilating. I find that cultural differences are wonderful. Instead of armies invading, stealing from and forcing other cultures to die, think how immensely satisfying it is to travel, to see and learn of the many beauties that other cultures can teach us. Americans should all be able to travel to a different country at least once a year and live among people of other lands. Revenues can come from travel, not war.

I staggered through episode one and have no desire to watch any more. I am so sick of colour blind casting because, a, it only goes one way and b, it is historically inaccurate and c, it is culture appropriation a la Bridgerton and is now spreading everywhere.

And this is why people say that Pride Parades aren't "family friendly". I get that safe sex is important, but being gay isn't about orgies; it's about being able to LOVE who we want without discrimination, hence the fight for MARRIAGE EQUALITY! Why does it have to be focused on sex specifically? I think love, being what the original fight was for in the first place, is a much better focus. THAT is both something worth fighting for AND something we can make the kids a part of. Like a gay version of Valentine's day instead of the sexcapades~ I don't know how much worse it is in the UK, but you should see how they are in the US. People in bondage gear and stuff~

If you hadn't kept using the term Hetro historians, I might take you more seriously but that pathetic confrontational attitude makes me take anything you have to say with a bucket of salt. It makes you look bitter, childish and pretty hateful. Drop the attitude and you might be more succesful. It makes me think rightly or wrongly that you need to use confontational terms as a form of promotion because your ideas lack the merit to stand on their own. Were it not for that I might have had a look at the book but I can't bear that kind of childish behaviour.

I think you all are missing the point, the Portuguese are kinda portrayed evil because the main character sees them as so, and the stories revolves around them.

I enjoyed it. Though i think all your critisism is absolutely correct- i just wasn‘t that bothered by these flawes. Many shows were not that great in the first season so i am hoping they continue and learn from their mistakes (the hallucinations monologues were very painful) but the actors were great!
