Are you still restoring furniture? It looks like most your videos are over a year old. Just wondering if you have more recent videos somewhere.

Beautiful it gives me hope that I can restore my little server that belonged to my great grandparents. Very dark stain but in good shape. I think I will try and sand top to see what kind if wood and then decide on cleaning and staining or painting. After seeing yours I really want to clean and stain.

I wish you painted dark wood with white to see if it bleeds through. Nothing shows on black

I tried using beyond paint and agree with these results here. It is just another gimmick product created to appeal to lazy people like me. After using it on a test cabinet and seeing that it chipped easily and was not as smooth as I like. I went ahead and used it as if it were a standard paint. I cleaned with simple green, rinsed off, dried, sanded with 220 on detail sander, primed with bonding primer sanded, then beyond paint, then sealed. I sanded between all the coats. I found that careful brushing was better than a roller with even a 1/4 inch nap. Oh, I also used Floetrol. I brushed it on lightly and immediately applied Beyond paint. Thin coats are best. As many as needed. So I was able to use my $125 gallon of Beyond paint without throwing it away but I won't buy it again. Just do the work. There are no shortcuts to a quality finish.

What a shame you darkened the beautiful maple wood, it just needed a good clean and thorough waxing, the lovely inlay is totally lost and is now a piece of ‘brown furniture’ with an ugly black base!

Instead of bleach, use Oxalic Acid. It will lighten the stains without affecting the wood much. You must cover the entire area so you don't get light marks. It's quite gentle so you might need more than one application. Also, it only needs to be washed away and neutralised with water. (I think it's made by boiling certain plants. Very natural but still toxic enough to require gloves.)

The 3 drawer chest is quite MAGNIFICENT! Really has a presence of majesty. Love the feet and the carved columns beside the drawers, the grain on the top is beautiful as well. Lucky lady that now owns this to pair well her credenza. Enjoy your work very much. Do you know what type of wood used in the structure and also in the veneer? Thank you for another great refinishing video. The 2 part wood bleach worked very well.! ❤ 👏

Because of you and a few other videos of yours I've been binging, I'm considering trying to flip. I'm out of the workforce right now due to recovering from leukemia. A side-hustle sure would help. Bless and thank you!

That's the issue with heat guns---if the paint doesn't bubble you're out of luck. People and chalk paint. Why are they like this. Here in my home town it's usually bright cerise or dark green. Oh, did you know they didn't allow paint stripper into Saudi Arabi at first? They objected to the word "stripper" on the tin. I love that you kept and restored the original hardware.

I am SOOO THRILLED by what you found hiding under that terrible yellow paint! I bet, if you didnt actually keep this for yourself, you had no trouble flipping it!❤❤

Lovely veneer. Is it elm, maybe? Beech? I'm not au fait with northern hemisphere woods. Beautiful transformation. At least the primer protected it a little from the garage.

I think the dirty lavender paint-job is a throwback to the c.a. 2001-2010 "shabby chic" era; although there used to be rubs in the paintwork right through to the underlying wood to make it look old and worn, that don't appear here. Personally I never thought there was anything "chic" about it: it always just looked plain shabby to me. But Cynthia, what you have done to this little cabinet is just marvellous. The oak graining and even the knots are superb. And didn't the hardware come up well! Anyone who purchases this will have a family heirloom for the future. That's just the quality of the item you've now created.

Why on Earth would someone paint that beautiful inlaid wooden top with all the wonderful feathered graining in the veneer panels? (Kudos to you for resurrecting it!) Especially lathering on a really thick sickly pale turquoise, at that! How could anyone ever envisage that as being a better look? My grandma used to say, "There's no accounting for taste!", but she would also sometimes add, "But some people truly need their heads read!"

Some tips - leearned the hard way. I find if it's solid wood (don't try this with veneer, it bubbles) use a heat gun and a gentle putty knife to get the paint off faster. For water rings, bleach is too vicious and you can see differences in tone of bleached and unbleached surfaces. Try oxalic acid, a plant based bleach that'll kill the stains without damaging the wood too much. For those picky creases (linen fold drawers are the worst), an old loose carpet knife blade scraped gently in the direction of the grain can tease out those bits of paint left in grooves. Also, once you've sanded, scotch brite pot scourers to shine up the wood before varnishing.

I'm currently working on a linen fold writing bureau in imbuia that someone painted bright cerise. It's taken me years to get close to finishing it so I could never do it for a living. But then again it's fun watching other people do the work too, so it's all good.

This video was very helpful! I liked that you used the same conditions for each strippers. I went to Lowes looking for either Kwit or Watco and it only had Citristrip and Klean Strip Priemium Stripper. Totally inspired by you. I brought the Klean Striper was able to get one pair of chemical gloves there as well. So wish me luck on this one. I'm stripping a door and it has a few coats of paint on it. The directions say to leave it on 15 to 30 minutes then repeat if necessary and wash off with Minieral Spirits or a n abrasive pad.
