AMAZING RESTORATION of Mid-Century Modern Dresser | Extreme Furniture Makeover| Trash to Treasure
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Can this severely damaged dresser be restored? I got this dresser for FREE because it was going to be trashed. Watch the video to see how I repaired the missing lower section on the left side as well as multiple gouges and scratches. Every dove tail joint was coming apart and the drawer pulls were badly gouged and marked up. I also put new legs on it to keep with the Mid-Century Design.
I used Heirloom Traditions all in one paint for this makeover for a smooth final finish. Detailed instructions are given in this video to show every step in this extreme makeover including how to add legs to a dresser.

You Have to add met you sculpted the top. Good work. I would have done that too.
I love watching you bring back the old raggedy pieces from the grave. The more damaged the better. It's beautiful.

Hi Gosh!!! Thanks!!! Your words inspire me!
Quite a difference! But how do you know that the mold is all gone? It looked like you glued the Venere down on top of the mold? Of course I could be mistaken on that. My daughter is severely allergic to mold so I was just wondering how you know it’s all dead? I know you bleached some of it but it didn’t appear that you bleached it all so I guess “inquiring minds just want to know”.🤔 Lol the piece turned out great though!

I did not think about the fact that the mold was inside until after I had it all glued down. It is pretty well sealed inside tho. Of course, I was taking a risk that the particle board would swell when I wet it with bleach but the smell was so strong I had to do something about it! I am not a mold remediation expert. I just used common sense and did the best I could.
Buen trabajo y bonito resultado 👌👍🇪🇸🌿

I love your videos; this is something that I like to do, but I need to learn how. I found a little desk and seat I want to strip and redo, but I fear ruining it. I watched the video on the three paint strippers, and the one I have was not featured. I am stuck right now
You definitely had your work cut out for you on this guy ... absolutely gorgeous outcome....I actually have this color London and I was thinking of using on a vintage teacart drop leaf ... color is so pretty. 🥰👍

It is a popular color for 2022. I normally don't like green but I did like this shade a lot. Thank you for watching!
My goodness at all that repair! Whew, talk about rough shape. As usual, you brought it back to life and something worth using. That's a very pleasant color. It could go with any decor. Great job, again! 🙂👍

If you sell it, the buyer should be advised of the mold remediation.

Do you ever build bases for your furniture? I just purchased a Kreg jig . Still learning
@FurnitureFlippingForProfit
2 жыл бұрын
Sometimes. The price of wood is so high that putting a base on furniture dramatically reduces my profit so I prefer to put pre-made legs on them. A base can easily cost $40-60 but legs are $20.

Hi Cynthia. Wondering if there is any difference between the Bondo Body Repair kit 2 and 3. Do both work the same? Thank you!
@FurnitureFlippingForProfit
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Cynthia. I do not know how they differ. I do not buy a "kit" I just buy a container of Bondo that can be used for car repair. I have used it many times on many wood working repairs and it has never failed me.
How did you get the musty mouldy smell out ? I have a piece with that problem. I used cleaning vinegar and keys kutter still hasn’t helped
@FurnitureFlippingForProfit
2 жыл бұрын
I put full strength bleach on it. It go rid of all the smells.
I love your work! I am concerned though because bleach will not kill mold. I previously worked for a disaster recovery company and this was one thing I remember perfectly. It may look like the mold is gone, however, bleach can’t kill mold on porous surfaces, such as those made of wood. That’s because mold spreads its roots deep into porous surfaces. There are products out there that will kill the mold. If you Google it, you will find out for yourself. I do love your work though! I just want to make you aware.

@@FurnitureFlippingForProfit thanks so much for the information. It was about 2 to 3 ago I found your channel and totally love the way you explain everything. That helps so much!!! Keep it up. You are one of a kind. Will have you as one of my models to follow my journey in the furniture flipping business.
Nice, however I pass on pieces like this. From a business standpoint, you will never get back the money in time and effort and sometimes products and hardware. But nice repair and end result 😊

I agree 100% . I did not refinish this to flip for a profit. I did it to teach skills to the viewers on my KZread channel. Mid Century Modern furniture does not sell well in my area.

@@FurnitureFlippingForProfit Honestly, I’ve never done a MCM, probably because I haven’t seen much of it in my area, but if I come across a decent piece I’ll surely give it a try 😊
Shouldn’t you have killed the mole before you put glue and clamped back down mold doesn’t die by itself
@FurnitureFlippingForProfit
2 жыл бұрын
LOL! I thought of that AFTER I put all the glue in it. It was too late. I did my best tho!
Why would you even bother? You can never sell it for what you put into it. I didn't see any drawer pulls. How do the drawers open?
it is work like this that gives restored furniture a bad name !!!!!
@FurnitureFlippingForProfit

I saved it from the land fill.... I am not selling it as a priceless antique. I provided a family with a functional dresser that should last them at least another 10 years. What could possibly be wrong with that? The end result was flawless. You cannot see where I repaired it.
