Extreme Furniture Makeover of Curbside Rescue Before & After | Dramatic Woven Wood Door Fronts
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
My most EXTREME makeover ever! New Original WOVEN DOOR fronts!
This is the most extreme makeover I have ever done. I am using an original design of WOVEN WOOD DOOR FRONTS! Yes! I am weaving wood! I also stripped and re-stained the top, cut off the bottom and created custom sleek legs, chalk painted it , gave in new trendy, chunky door pulls and a faux wood glaze. The difference from before to after is quite dramatic.
I provide step by step narrated instructions showing how I did everything to turn this dull, coffin-like credenza or media console into a sleek, modern ( dare I say sexy) work of art that can be used as a media console, buffet, sideboard, credenza or hall entry table.
I have never done so many techniques on one piece of furniture. I learned a lot along the way and so will you.
To think that this furniture was discarded on the curb to be picked up by the garbage in less than 24 hours! It is solid wood and well made. I am glad that I was able to give it a new life.

I LOVE YOUR CLEVERLY RESTORED BEAUTIFUL MEDIA CABINET!!! WELL DONE!!! 💖💖💖💖💖
I love watching you! It’s so nice to see you not using premium products that cost an arm and a leg and coming up w creative solutions to solve problems. My favorite thing of yours that I have integrated is the car wash sponge for my topcoat. I’ve used it on several flips now and will never go back to a brush. Keep up the good work!

Wow Lydia! Thank you for your kind words. I am so glad you "get me" - I see no reason to spend $49 a quart for chalk paint when the $20 chalk paint works just as well (or even better, the DIY!). That is why I did the video comparing chalk paints. I wanted to know for sure weather it made a difference. Of course, I want to provide high quality refinished furniture to my clients BUT why pay more for my supplies that I have to! Have you tried the Harbor Freight brushes? I really like them too. They are inexpensive and work about as well as the high dollar ones. Keep watching my videos!
I like how beautifully this turned out. You tend towards stains too dark for my taste but your artistry is superb.
I’m speechless. It’s absolutely beautiful. I’m impressed with your vision and your execution.

Wow, thank you!
What a change! Cannot believe that is the same cabinet. Great work, great taste.
Super job to say the least. I love the basket weave door fronts. The door pulls are perfect.
I love it. I wish I’d found your videos before I started. I painted my 54 year old dresser and chest plus two night stands that didn’t match. Since my furniture was in really good condition I only had to clean out , lightly sand then paint. It turned out great. I used the original hardware. After cleaning well, I spray painted gloss black then when dry used Rubnbuff gold to highlight the raised areas. I love it. Then I went to a small semicircular table that sits by my front door. It was painted a high gloss battleship gray. After trying three different paint strippers I discovered four layers of paint. It’s the biggest mistake !!! At least it didn’t happen to my bedroom furniture.
I wouldn't blame you for keeping this one. It is a work of art! Those woven wood doors are unique, and you won't see them everywhere. Great overall job! 🙂👍

@@FurnitureFlippingForProfit oh! I will. I forgot about that. Thanks for the reminder.
I was taught when I took carpentry courses to use a wet cloth on deep scratches with a hot iron on top. Works like a dream and no damage from the heat to the wood. Excellent job with this old entertainment centre. It’s wonderful. And your right, Behr paint is wonderful. I also used one of those deck brushes to create a linen effect on walls. It’s quite subtle.

Hi Karen- I am glad you like it. Originally I was going to paint the veneer but it warped because the paint has water in it. So, the only other thing I could do is to stain the veneer. That turned out to be the best way to finish it! I think the stained veneer just tied it all together. RH is big on big door pulls so I wanted to go with their "look" They were more costly but I think worth it!
Oh you got it right…I would keep it too. You r brilliant

Don't know if the light and dark contrast is simply dramatic but too high contrast. I will live with that idea for a while. I never saw anything like the woven business before but having been Weaver and needlework designer celebrate your work. Effective and so much more than how it started out. Congratulations on keeping it.

Beautiful job. The texture looks like linen to me. Fabulous.
@FurnitureFlippingForProfit
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Emer. Since the texture only goes in one direction I guess you can say it looks like raw silk? It is subtle but I am so glad I did it because it would have looked almost boring without it. Putting the chalk paint in with the glaze instantly made the color coordinate with the base color. I will always do that now when I mix up a custom glaze. I also never used acrylic paint in glaze. That worked well also.
@bluecurlygirl
2 жыл бұрын
@@FurnitureFlippingForProfit Yes, raw silk indeed. I was thinking "gosh if she criss crossed the design it would look like linen". Katie Scott did a linen look with paint recently and it was obviously on my mind. I have never used a glaze but after watching you, I sure want to. Such an interesting effect and yes the acylic paint did work well. Thank you for always inspiring and teaching. You're a gem.
When you showed the final result I said, "Oh sh***t". I was so stunned at how chic and warm it looked. The woven wood reminded me of a Polynesian resort.
