Extreme Restoration of Damaged Dining Table & Chairs w/Chalk Paint & Liquid Wood Stained Top

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This dining table & chairs were damaged with huge gouges & scratches throughout. The top had several particle board bubbles, the chair seats were filthy & in need of upholstering, the wood was gouged and scratched, the edges of the table had pieces of the trim broken off and the all legs and joints were wobbly!
In this video I will show you 3 different ways to refinish a dining table and chairs for personal use or to flip for a profit. I also will show you how to "turn" the damaged particle board top into a beautiful stained top using a product that contains 66% wood fiber: Liquid Wood. This top when finished was virtually indistinguishable from real wood!
The results are stunning!

Yes ABD I agree but I frequently hear them say that when they come to look at the furniture. I think they hear in my voice the fact that I genuinely care that they have a piece of furniture that will last a long time. I had a client say to me "I was going to try to talk you down further on the price when I got here but after hearing you describe what you did to make it look like this I can see that I am actually getting a great deal for the price" LOL!

Man, I really love your videos. I love how creative you are, but also your pragmatic and scientific approach to every aspect of your projects. I'm guessing you are a well educated scientist because your work is impeccable, detailed, but succinct in your description, and the quality meticulous. I sure wish I could learn from your experience in person, but grateful I have videos of your work. You also remind me of my mother in your confidence, craftsmanship, and elegance.

Happy New year and hope you had a lovely Christmas... beautiful table. I'm actually now painting a vintage teacart with heirloom traditions in London and I've used this brand prior. I use the light coats and roller method however I use Dixie Belle mini synthetic brush for second and third coats with no brush strokes. So long as I use the roller or Stippling method to start with. Here's to more exciting flips🥳👍🥰

Love this!! I have a beautiful mahogany dining table & 6 chairs from the ‘40’s made by Bernhardt. I absolutely love it but it’s in need of some love. I’d like to keep it wood, not painted but have no idea how to restore it. There’s wear on the edges of each chair & the tabletop has some scratches. I’ve done much furniture stripping but not sure what to do to go forward with this project. Any ideas?

The Liquid Wood is definitely what my old dining table needs. The buffet does, also. It came to me second hand after a family member's estate sale. She was quite elderly before she passed and I'm guessing was not caring for things properly. She had plants on top of both the table and buffet. She had those absorbent pads under them, but over-watered them and the pads stuck to the pieces, leaving a sticky mess. I have just used a tablecloth to cover it, but it really needs refinishing. I believe that it is MDF and not real wood. It appears to be wood, but from feeling underneath, it doesn't seem so. (I'm not physically able to get under it to look.) Maybe the mirror trick could help. If my suspicions are correct, I could really use the Liquid Wood. Thank you for being so descriptive about all you do. Also, thanks for the product reviews. That saves us time and money! Great outcome on this project! 🙂👍

You do such beautiful work! Thank you for sharing your talent. I have a quick question. Do you suggest putting a leaf up and doing this all together? Or do you feel it's best to do the leaf separately? I was thinking it needed to be together so that the grain runs throughout, but then again we use the table mostly without the leaf and doing it with the leaf may have it not match as well when it's removed.🤔

"looks like wood" - well, sort of a bit like pine! It does look good though. It is possible to repair the veneer or to put in an interesting inlay over damaged areas, particularly if the damage is located where inlay will look good. It would be interesting to know how long was spent on this project, and the final selling price - just being nosy of course, but it really adds understanding to the effort required. Thank you.

The damaged area was in such a location that veneer repair would have been very apparent. I spent 2 weeks on it because I had to allow a lot of drying time and I have a full time job so I could not work on it every day. I estimate that I spent a total of about 16 hours. I sold it for $950. I used leftover upholstery fabric and the rest of the supplies came to about $55. I got the set for free. I would never have selected this set to flip for a profit because I knew it was going to take a long time. I got this set so I would be able to produce a video to teach some specific skills to my viewers. I know a lot of people have dining room sets that are in need of refinishing and they do not know where to start. I hope this video will provide guidance and motivation to them to refinish their set. To make real money flipping dining room sets see my video where I describe how I made over $2K with only about 8 hours of work! The link to that video is: kzread.info/dash/bejne/goCnvMFxfsXUlpM.html
