Brighten Up Your Dark Furniture | Free Coffee Table Makeover

Someone in my neighbourhood put this dark old coffee table out for trash so I scooped it up and gave it a more modern makeover. I stripped the top and refinished it with a light and airy paint wash and then painted the base a bright off white. One person’s trash is another person’s awesome new furniture piece!

I painted ALL my furniture white last year and added gleaming accessories! I Love it!!! The mood of the entire house has changed. It’s amazing what some paint can do to transform your life and energy of the home. Nice job 👍.

I agree! I did the same thing…went from dark to white and everything is sooo much prettier and brighter. I absolutely love it!
I think it’d be really cool if you made a segment on your channel where you view subscriber submissions to help them decide how to flip their own projects. I think you have a great eye for this sort of stuff, and I think people would love to hear your suggestions.

Coffe tables like that are in every thrift store I go in. I always think they are so dated and ugly. You just changed my mind. Your table is beautiful.

Honestly, what a transformation! I am so inspired by your vision!!
I'm glad to see you kept the integrity of the wood grain on the top of the table. I think this adds more value than if the entire piece was covered in layers of paint. In the future, I suspect solid wood pieces will be harder to come by and natural wood or gently washed wood will be more appreciated than it is now.
Beautiful! Thank you for respecting that beautiful wood grain and highlighting it. I cringe seeing so many furniture flippers paint over mother nature’s artwork.
The coffee table looks gorgeous, if the people who let it go see how it’s now I’m sure they wanna back lol.

I would definitely buy this table for $200. It is so beautiful with much character. I love the grain of the wood. You did justice to this table by painting it a light color! Well done.

@@salvagedbykscott Do you recommend using a water pressure machine to remove paint after stripping a Louvre door (is a slotted door )?
Who else waited to see if she painted the underside of the table top? ha!! Great job Katie..as always. I would love to have this one in my seaside cottage. :-)

Goodness, you knocked it out of the park on this one! I couldn't see where you were going with the stripping of the top and the paint choices until it all came together at the end. Then I was really inspired. Really lovely and what a transformation! Thanks for sharing your gift with all of us.

That table turned out BEAUTIFULLY!!! I always learn so much watching you do your thing. That paint wash was a game changer! I've been wanting to try this for a while, and this video has motivated me to get to it. Thanks so much for sharing :)

Look really nice, and it is true, this type of furniture is really pricey, even if you buy it at a second hand store. Your neighbor did not know that he was throwing some good cash money in the curve!
Table came out beautiful....a charming piece. My personal choice would be to paint the underside of the top to make it fully complete.
