AMAZING RESTORATION OF VINTAGE TEA CART | Furniture Restoration| What is Under THAT Paint?
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I purchased this yellow tea cart at an estate sale. It was painted yellow to match the dining room set with a round table, 4 chairs and a small hutch. As a set it actually look bright and cheerful. There is just no way I would ever strip a table and 4 chairs so that was not an option for me to purchase! I hate refinishing dining room sets.
However, this little tea cart had potential. It had been moved to the covered patio by the owner when the wheels fell off. It was dusty and dirty.
The brass was extremely tarnished but the wood appeared to be in good shape.
I had an idea of what might be under that paint but was not certain.I guess it was out of curiosity more than anything that I purchased this tea cart.
What is under that yellow paint?

So glad that you found the beauty underneath the yellow paint. Stunning result! Just a thought: It looks like a wine cart, since it has bottle slots, and Italians aren't known for their tea drinking. ;-)
Wow, hard to believe someone would paint over that! Beautiful job!

H O L Y SMOKES!! What an incredible piece of furniture!! I’m still just blown away that they painted it. Don’t get me wrong, I hand paint furniture, use waxes, blend colors and put transfers on pieces, often to give the look like the inlay gives on this one. Also, you were spot on by knocking off that high gloss shine and putting satin on instead. Just gorgeous!💜

OMG!!! I am so in love with this tea cart! I have loved yellow roses, its an obsession actually, for more than 35 yrs. I am a native Texas Gal and of course....the Yellow Rose of Texas! I am SOOO THRILLED by what you found hiding under that terrible yellow paint! I bet, if you didnt actually keep this for yourself, you had no trouble flipping it!❤❤

Very cool! Thanks for sharing. I was scared as I refinished it because I really could find no source that said, "yes you can sand it and spray it with polyurethane and it will look great!" The stain I used says it is to be used on raw wood so I was guessing that I could stain over poly with it. The GEL stain I have says you have to wait 3 days for it to dry and I wanted to get this video out yesterday and did not want to wait 3 additional days to release it.
That is an amazing restoration. Excellent work. Im not a fan of flowers but the work that went into that inlay... was criminal to paint it. Thank you for all your hard work.

What a wonderful surprise under that yellow paint. I wonder what they were thinking when it was painted?. It made me think of when I was a kid and a friend of mine sold me a bike frame for $7 that was painted with latex house paint and a brush.
