It's interesting to not that the Roman era quickly crashed when corruption became the bread and butter of it's politics. When corruption became so widespread and institutionalised, it was then wrought with infighting and civil strife along with backstabbing and the inability to stop individuals from bleeding the empire for disruptive ambitions while the Empire was crumbling on all sides. This should be a lesson for Americans as the current situation is seeing a political elite using their authority to make money at the expense of the nations overall interest, and when things get really bad this would mean cutting the nation into tiny pieces for one last grift before fleeing for greener pastures.

This has been going on for several years now so the real question is now that "We" Know what are any of us going to do about it? The real question is: "How Dumb Is We"? It is obvious (or it should be) That we cannot now have this knowledge and say: "Wow thats awful and Jon is the greatest" and then turn back to watching whatever mindless mess in streaming on cable. Or maybe we can.

It's kinda weird; I've lived in Washington state for 40 years, aside from the Hanford debacle, I can't really remember any overtly cartoonish episodes of DC related corruption. To be fair I have not recently googled "how corrupt is my politician?" It's simply more of an anecdotal "I honestly don't remember the last time one of our dc related gov officials got raided for having bags with dollar signs on them being left on their front door step right before every vote they attend.

America is a capitalist society. Capitalists are making billions in profits. Capitalists only care about profits. Capitalists do not care about people or the planet. In a capitalist society ALL policies, regulations, and laws favor profitability for Capitalists over things like "justice" and "democracy". Capitalism is the problem. Support Democratic Socialism! Repeal Citizens United! Election/Campaign Finance Reform! Regulate/Abolish RNC and DNC! Get Money Out of Politics! Expand and Protect Democracy! Join Unions and Cooperatives! The decommodification of entire industries like education, healthcare, transportation, energy, banking, criminal justice, agriculture, and land management is the next step in the evolution of humanity. This would be Market Socialism, a mixed economy, which would make these industries public goods; where the resources and means of production are collectively managed by the people. These public goods, and their quality, should not be accessible based on financial ability. We cannot get there if people aren't willing to criticize capitalism.

Most important discussion US Americans should be engaged in. NOTHING will get better until we tackle the insane corruption of US politics. Most corrupt country on the planet. The problem with the data on corrupt countries: in the US corruption is legal. INSANE.

Maybe there's a pattern here... Democracies/Republics will always eventually fail due to corruption and stagnation from too many voices trying to scam each other... In these moments, you need ONE YOUNG voice to restore order and scare them into being competent... Augustus comes to mind... Anybody know what he's been up to for the last thousand years???
