Just DON'T tip. We dont tip here and we dont want it to become a thing. If you do tip it usually goes into a jar is used for the Christmas party, or if the boss is nice it gets divided up to all staff, if the boss is an ass, it goes into their pocket.

Australia doesn't even have a city that is in the top 50 highest cost of living (Sydney is 56th in 2023), no one gaf about "shrimp on barbie", beers can be had at a casino 24/7, transport is abundant between cities, talk about immigration as much as you want as unlike usa you wont get shot for it...

One more tip; don't go hating on our Vegemite, especially if you're the type of drongo to eat it by the spoonful like Nutella, eating Vegemite by the spoonful is bloody disgusting. The best way to eat Vegemite, is on toast with butter or margarine, spread your toast with a decent amount of butter/margarine and then spread a thin layer of Vegemite over it, do it right and the saltiness of the Vegemite will blend nicely with the sweetness of the butter/margarine, great for Breakfast or even as a quick & easy Midnight Snack.
As an Australian, he's spot on about not taking shit personally, we Aussies love to have a good laugh at someone else's expense, we call it "taking the piss", and we do it with practically everyone from friends to family to neighbours, no one is safe from a bit of teasing. Like this bloke says "You know an Australian doesn't like you if they they don't insult you", too bloody true! We Australians pride ourselves on our sense of humor and we like to make others laugh, even if it's at your expense, trust me mates I know because I'm often the butt of most jokes, but it's all good, because it's give and take, if you dish it you better be prepared to take it.

In regard to conversation on trains, we went to Japan recently, and even though not over the top all the time, I definitely saw people from there having conversations with each other...so I'm not sure if they are slowly relaxing to the idea of that type of thing...what I did notice, though, was that it appeared that they were people already together when they got onto the train. I'll keep an eye on that when we visit North Korea. Paused at 2:03 to comment, so back to watching. Thanks for taking the time to post this, and hope you and yours are doing just great!
