There is a lot of cultural variations in each geographic region and while some of your points are true, try and not generalize. Keep most of these in your back pocket while still keeping an open mind

@Christian Lopez doesn't matter if you are male or female, never go alone on street. India is not really a safe country so ya better be cautious. There are lot of scams so make sure you bargain before you buy anything from the street cuz people charge more from foreigners. Use uber or metor for transportation trust me its way more convenient than auto or rikshaw. when someone is trying to sell you something then just ignore don't even replay, those people are very persistent. If you are planing to stay in a hotel then please go for a five star hotel or make sure to check properly before staying anywhere, cheaper hotel are not really safe. Make sure to check ''karl rock '' channel in youtube he is a foreigner who catch indian scammers, his video can help a lot if ya ever plan to come india. Hope you have a safe and happy journey

@Itachi Uchiha I was thinking of which state is best then i searched it was kerala and u can visit kerala. Reasons are:it has more forests then buildings and the greenery is like a farm thing u can search on internet for images and people there are superkind .they will help you in any problem. They could be scammers but very few so be careful.

    1. You got it right. Always book an Uber or Ola, and never local taxi. Unless you want to experience a tempo ride for fun. Wait, even that might be available on these 2 apps. So, just avoid an uncontrolled contract. Even we Indians avoid it these days, whenever & wherever possible. 2. Use whichever hand you want. Anyone hardly cares, apart from old people. Btw, Indians do wash their hands after doing the "business". 3. Yupp... don't drink anything apart from bottled water, if you aren't from here. 4. You don't really have to respect cow. Just don't kill it. And may be, avoid telling strangers, how much you love eating beef. 5. Count the change. Yes, do that, always. If you are dealing in cash, a transaction isn't complete unless you do that. 6. Yupp... We somehow don't get the concept of queues, for reasons unknown. Reason of regular funny fights. 7. Don't talk politics - Yes. Even if you are an Indian, talking of non-majoritarian view-point, will get people easily offended. 8. Indians only greet with Namaste? Men women don't touch each other's hands? What the hell are you teaching your followers? Trust me, unless you meet someone very orthodox, most Indians find it silly that westerners keep saying "Namaste" for no reason, multiple times a day. If you are with people of your age, a casual "Hi" is good enough. Even if you want to say "Namaste", it's really good the first few times, may be when you meet someone for the first time, or may be when you meet an elder for the first time on a given day. But, it's not a word that we say a thousand time in a day, unless it's your birthday & anniversary, and so many people call and wish. 9. Ohhh... that's a good observation. People really point to something using feet, in some part of world? Well, we really don't do that in India. We just use "index" fingers. Aren't they called as such, bcz they have a purpose? 10. Clothing: Truly depends on the place where you are: A temple/mosque, a market, a friend's home, a hotel room, a hotel lobby, crowded sea beach, isolated(but safe) sea beach. It can range from "covered" to "almost nothing". Just be a wise judge of place.

The problem with most of the people is- when they visit india, they visit delhi and some surrounding states... They form an opinion and conclude that the whole india is like this.. I dont see most of these things in south india... I'm not against any of our northern states but I request everyone to visit all parts of India and then jump into a conclusion.. As a foreigner that has lived in India for 4 years, I feel so offended by many things you say on this list. Visiting a country as a tourist does not mean you have become an expert and especially when you visit a culture that is so different from yours, you should go with an open mind. I don't want to sound offensive but you sounded very American. As a white European woman who dressed normally, just like in Europe, I have had my fair share of bad experiences while living in India, but in no way had it defined my opinion of the country. Right after India I moved to Germany, which is not my home country and I had to go through the same kind of difficulties when you move into a new culture. And that thing, you say about the hands?.... I have never ever had to wander which hand to use, I have never heard of this discussion while being there, talked plenty of politics (it is not the USA), talked about food and cultures in other states of India. You cannot create an opinion on a country with the same set of rules for everyone. India is not perfect but out of the 5 countries I have lived in since I was born, India has been the place I have been the happiest in my life. I met the best people I have ever met there, challenged myself in so many ways and came out a better person. You can be critical of things, but you do not have to be disrespectful and for people who want to visit India for the first time, your video will not be a good reference at all. It creates clichés.

The important thing is washing your hands afterwards no matter if you use the toilet paper or like Indians, a Bidet . Indians dont use both hands while eating because in the culture its considered uncouth and unpolished and not because they use a Bidet hose when in the toilet ...atleast try to find the real reason behind a practice if you are advising others .

One thing that struck me was the way people always allowed others to have a tiny cocoon of space around them, no mater how dense the crowd was. I was deeply impressed with this. "Don't point with your feet" applies to all of Asia, not just India, but generally Indians allow for foreigners to make mistakes out of ignorance.

coralarch of course they allow foreign people to make mistakes, but why should I make mistakes that I can avoid ? The video doesn’t say that you will get bitten, just that it’s not polite. I also know that it depends on the city, Bangalore is a high tech enclave and it’s very different from more rular places. But the rules, as far as I know, are good in all places in India: they won’t hurt.

BTW travellers are not broke, if you travel you have to be financially prepared and your time, I had travelled across asia many countries including India, beautiful country and alot of good foods. It's quite common alot of people comment things what they experience alot of places they travelled sometimes good and bad. If you want the best experience of travel you have to be wise on your money and not to be impulsive.

Well, I am from Delhi, from its heart, Darya Ganj ...my family came to India in 1026 AD, 40 years before William, the Conquer invaded the British isles. Dehi has been destroyed and rebuilt 9 times. Lodhi was the King. Delhi is India. It has people from all over India. I am very glad to see young people, like you, visiting Delhi without the hang up of white superiority. Its 20 million residents, somehow, do manage to eke out some sort of living, is a miracle. As for water, well, it is no different than any other place. All waters are different with their bacteria depending of the flora and fauna using that water. Delhi does not have water filtration like London or New York or Sydney. The Jamna, is a cesspool, very much like any river passing through a metropolis. If you are going to stay a long period say 3 months or longer, use the water at the earliest and get your intestines rearrange its bacteria tolerance. It takes two to three days of Diarrheoa that is normal. You can use any anti diarrheoa medication, I would recommend to stay with soda water / beer and fried food. Good luck

Ercan Kilic That's logical question, with no logical answer. Many Indians don't believe that way, but some people do. Jains and sikhs for example, don't worship cows, but they don't eat beef. In fact Jains don't eat any meat at all. So, it's not what you and I believe, but what others believe and if they have a right to do so. Yes they do, so long as they don't force others to believe that way. That's guaranteed by Indian constitution. You can worship anything, everything or even nothing. They won't ask you to give justifications. That's India. Truly secular! I love indian constitution. Today's Independence day. Long live India.

as being an INDIAN only his 3rd point was correct btw we use soap and i have never seen someone pointing from there foot and handshakes, hi, hello are common here if it is written that it is drinkable water then it is drinkable washing vegetables is common for removing dust , pushing is not we do it something that happens in a large crowd just like a concert and last the 100 rupees matter was your mistake cant you just count the money to ensure that the return you got is correct hence, he just made his own points except 3rd and the last

I like how you kept showing only 1 place in the entire video . Its like me going to america and just filming ghettos and shady parts . As an Indian i know we arent as rich as we tend to show but we arent that shitty either. You can wear whatever you want as long as you are in the right place and not at some weird part of the city.

Basically you can wear anythng in metropolitan and towns but not in rural areas ( you would get stares for sure ). Also people stare me too. Only because i have hairstyle like Zack efron ( that 90s ) and wear a cap but that doesnt mean it is in sexual way only

I am an Indian and travel extensively in India - also out of India. I can say that this video is a good guide - especially for Delhi. Just pointing out what was missed/wrong/generalized ... "#6: Don't be polite". True in Delhi and a few parts of North. Rest of India is over-polite. We maintain the same "Don't be polite" attitude while visiting Delhi. If you are impolite - in many cities, you will be paid back with interest. Immediately. "#8: Shake Hands": Men not shaking hands with women is correct - generally men wait for the lady to decide. Shake hands if she offers her hand first. In offices, it's almost always a yes to shaking hands "#10 or 11: Revealing clothing": I would rephrase that to "Do not wear provocative clothing". Its always better not to like an ostrich in a crowd of ducks. But there are places and occassions in India where you need to be the ostrich. You will know by seeing the rest of the crowd. Beaches, discotheques etc, for example.

Can say strong immune, it's natural. Not like taking flu shots every season to fall sick and artificially wake the immune system. This is how humans lived on earth, with least chemicals in their lives. Now in the name of hygiene the west has created cancer.

cate cate yes! you are totally right ! i am also an indian and i stay in rural india (villages) and our culture is totally different from what you see in cities ! we stay as a big organization here and everybody knows each other well and helps each other and infact all the families living in a village are basically connected or related with each other ! life is so much better here than from cities ! ps:- i spent 27 yrs of my life of 50 yrs in cities ! didnt like it, came down to my village and settled here and live a very peaceful , happy and prosperous life here with so many people to share our good times and bad times together ! i even have a huge family with a huge house (around 25 members) ! right from my retired colonel father (82yrs old), my recently retired colonel brother has also shifted to village to stay with us to all my uncles, aunts, cousins, servants and what not ! yeah we do have a gala time together as life is simple and everyday is a sunday for us ! ha ha ha and yes!! living in villages is much much cheaper than living in cities :) thats also a plus point ! :))
