It is August 2020 and I just saw your video . I have to tell you that I admire your style at such young age you were able to put a thoughtful and well rounded view of Lima. As you said few people knows the city. But somehow you managed to go to rough areas that even natives don't go, you have all my respect. I am sure that you will be a big name in the industry. Oh the first guy, he didn't tried to tell you it was forbidden to film there, is just we can't go to the border in that place because there is risk of falling or the earth moving and as a consequence falling, so they try to keep people away of it :3 he was just being nice.

Lima Peru is no San Francisco. Lima is dirty and poor except for a few areas like Miraflores where the criminals come to con and rob the tourists. If you come here be very careful.

I enjoyed your video ... great work ... I liked the music you used ...and the footage of the locals ... you made it all come together very nicely. The quality of your video is amazing , I felt excited yet relaxing watching ...!!!

After WW2 a lot of Japanese soldiers were ashamed to return to Japan having lost the war and also surrendering. As former POW's they were asked where they wanted to go and for some reason they chose Peru.

@@XXX80752 That is not true. The Peruvian Japanese colony was settle in Peru long before de WW2. They came in ships to work as partisan after WW1. The reason was because there was no food or work to sustain the population who was starving in Japan. After they settle in Peru, they brought their wife and it was funny to see hundreds of people in the Callao harbor looking for a wife that they didn't know who she was just with a photo in their hands. After they finish their contracts, they settle in Peru and raise their family in here and grew businesses. Now, Chinese and Japanese are among the richest minorities. The Chinese came as worker to build the train from Lima to Huancayo and to crop the guano (marine bird poop) the Japanese came as partisans to grow vegetables. The reason of this was because blacks were freed from slavery and there was no one to take care of the fields.

There were also about 80,000 Chinese slaves the Spanish brought over that mixed with the Indigenes. You can tell many are mixed with Chinese from their eyes.

Hey bro dig the video! I'm planning on going to Peru in January 2019 and making Lima as the base before going on an Inca Trail tour. Where did you stay at while in Lima? Was it a relatively cheap city?

Hey mi friend im frim Peru ..lima i read ypur commetnt and ypu can visit lima first...and after visit lima you can take a direct flight to the city of cuzco....there you can buy in agencies or the same train station your tikets to go to macchupicchu... Lima city some areas is expensive...others no... You can visiti historical center lima....Miraflores...Barranco.. In lima there are museums...ancient churches... An experience for tourist can be to visit some local market( is no supermarket) ...name in spanish is mercado... And the shoping centers are very large of 3 o 4 leves... ...rexomendation be careful with taxis there are many formal and informal taxis... Maybe you can get official information for tpurist in... Www.peru.travel Is a oficial page from the country I hope you have a nice experience and enjoy your visit in mi country...

@@bmfsnc8466 hola logan mucho gusto.....lima es una gran ciudad refiriendome al tamaño...... hay mucho movimiento y muchas areas diferentes para vivir dependiendo de tu economia.... miraflores...san isidro, la molina son de los mas costosos..... seguidos por los distritos de surco..san borja, jesus maria, pueblo libre. Donde tambien es agradable vivir.....hay otros distritos mas economicos ... Ahora hay una gran migracion venezolana por los problemas que tienen en su pais... lo que significa que los pequeños trabajos ya estan copados practicamente...Comida puedes encontrar en todas partes ...si quieres ahorrar lo mejor es cocinar y puedes encontrar precios mas economicos en los mercados locales que los hay en todas partes....si no tie gusta tienes los supermercados....con lo referente a cuzco... es mas turistico.... asi que tambien es un buen lugar...si tienes la economia nec3saria creo que cuzco seria una buena opcion....suerte

Thank you for posting this video! My gf has lived in Ecuador for 6 years or so, traveled around Colombia a bit, but has always had an interest in Peru. It's easy to get to Peru from EC, from Machala it's just a short bus ride to the border. And there are decent non-stop flights from MIA to Lima on Spirit or AA if we want to take a short trip there from FL, where I live. Also, good job on mixing the music with your voice as you were talking in the video... i.e., dropping the music out when you were talking! What about those smaller towns just across the border from EC for a day or two visit, like Zorritos, Tumbes, beachworthy?

I forgive him because he is a kid but if you are over 30 in most cases, not cheap or can spend a little more ( like in a regular mall) Lima has much more to offer. Gamarra is like me taking you to a big Walmart. And I am Peruvian with more than a decade without going to Gamarra. Reminds me this fellow from Vermont over 30 cute sure, married to this Peruvian friend, I told him “so she took you for turism to Gamarra” he told me “that’s not a place for turism” I responded “I know , and now she doesn’t want to go to Vermont” he said “ he said “yes” and talking to his wife he said “see? She gets it” 🙊😄

I think you got the wrong information, people don’t avoid going to Lima...It’s actually a pretty popular city in Peru and there are lots of interesting places to visit.

You are totally wrong. Get informed , you are talking about a city in the 90´s . Lima is the best gastronomic destination in LATAM. Many people come here to experience this. The number of tourists is increasing each time.

it depends of the distance. If you're going from Barranco or Surco to Gamarra, it should cost like 35 soles (10 dollars)

visitaste los lugares mas aburridos de mi pais, un consejo cuando vengan a Peru no gasten su dinero en lujos ni hoteles costosos ni mucho menos vallan a lugares residenciales(de la alta sociedad) eso lo pueden ver en cualquier otro lugar , les recomiendo vivir la experiencias de viajar al Peru profundo La sierra y La selva somos un pais multidiverso con flora y fauna por monton ni hablar de los paisajes , Lima no lo es todo . Pero eso si no olvidarse de ir a los dos mejores restaurantes del mundo que estan en el top 10 , y estan ubicados en lima.

"It's the third biggest city in the Americas" = It is not. Even if you only take latin america into account, Mexico DF, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires. Lima comes afterward, with roughly the same population as Bogota.

ok Thats it. Most you tubers no matter their budget don't go to film to Gamarra. It is like me going to your home town to talk about your city and filming a flea market , when you have a nice mall. We want the right people to be willing to invest or buy our art to fair prices. Perhaps you are confusing us with some other people. Don't do that please. And by the way socialists are not welcome here either, specially you, caucasian Americans with savior complexes. Peru is fairly cheap, in fact cheaper than I would like or I think workers deserve. Please don't ask for 3-4 dollar discount less you are broke (1 dollar +- 3 soles) That won't mean much to you, but will mean the world for them. Besides, help them with their dignity and self worth. And please don't forget, fix your own problems first before messing with ours.
