@calmckinley if you're going to say don't call the USA "America", maybe use a Peter's projection map instead of a Mercator projection. The map you've used shows Greenland looking like it's 3/4 the size of South America when it's only 1/8 of S.America's area. That map leads to perceptions that S.America isn't that big.

Hi ! the video it's very nice and clear. When you say that Argentinians don't eat spicy, i woud say in Buenos Aires don't eat spicy, Argentina is a very large country and if you go to the north you'll find people eat a litle more spicy, they have european influence but a lot of arabic and syrian libanese influence on their food. I hop you can meet the rest someday. Good trip!! :)
I'm Proud to be Argentinian🇦🇷😊💗
Soy estadounidense = I am American. LOL, it seems that is an issue in all the Spanish speaking countries and Brazil, but somehow Argentinians are more openly vocal about that. We all are in America, from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego.

The public transportation is quite good in Buenos Aires. You should get an app called "BA como llego". Yo give it your actual position or the starting address and the destination and it will show different posibilities using bus, train or subway (Subte is called in Buenos Aires). When you choose an option it will show on the map where you should get on each mean of transport and where to get off. To use any of the means of transportation you need the SUBE card, which you can load with money and then use it in the reading machines. In the Subte (subway, metro) the fare is fixed for each trip. In buses you must tell the drive where you are going and he will set the price. On trains you rest the card at the entrance to mark the start of the trip and you must pass the card again at the end of the trip. There the trip will be calculated and deducted. Taxi has a fixed fare by distance and waiting time stopped. There are different values for day and night. There is no need for tipping in a normal trip. If the driver helps with the baggage you may give a small amount. In restaurants and bars is expected to tip by 10% or little less.
And the Brazilian music is for?

Hi cal! Nice video and You are absolutly right about all the things! Congratullations! I'm Greeting You from Buenos Aires My city! And I hope You was enjoy your tour for that city!!! 😊👏👏👏
Was there for a few days last year and wanna go back already
Buenos Aires is one of my favorite cities, behind Brisbane and Melbourne, Australia.
You should visit other places of out country Bs As is very different from a other locations around here. South and north and central part of the country are like 3 different nations all very very beautifull
Mexico and Brazil are also Estados Unidos, and a few others too if memory serves.
Your video is pretty accurate. Only correction I would make is that Fernet, a type of amaro (an Italian bitter aromatic spirit) is actually very popular here in Buenos Aires, especially among the youth. All you gotta do is mix it with some Coke. But yea, the city of Cordoba is probably the de facto capital of Fernet. Argentineans consume more Fernet than Italians.
@davidvosspoor4694

THIS!!! I miss Fernet. Es difícil conseguirlo acá en Quebec
La Boca when the sun is up and where the sun is down are very different places. Look how the houses are protected and you know. Buenos Aires is great but it's definitely the last place to go to visit if you're a turist, the country has so many great places to go. And the culture is very diverse in different places.
Nice vídeo. Muy lindo!

My box of new boots in a handled shopping bag was stolen from beside me on the floor while I waited in a line at a busses' station in DC.
Hi, I am Argentine, 59 years old, life-time porteño. This is a great video. AMERICA. I agree, though the people who is offended by it won't be the people with whom you want to hang out while here. I mean, if someone really takes offense from that, they will probably not be very appreciative of your imperialistic visit to Argentina. In some circles we say things such as "hay elecciones en USA" (pronounced "oo-sah"), or "mis amigos americanos" just to spite them. PERSONAL BELONGINGS. Absolutely. A couple of years ago I was downtown, mid morning crowd milling around, when across the street I watched a running teen swap an iPhone off the hand of a guy talking on it while waiting to cross at a street light. Even worse, a swarm of three of four more ran after him as if chasing him - while actually running interference for anyone who tried to intervene. Another time I was coming back home, Sunday 9 am - I worked at a night club back then - when I came across an American couple. There were two other guys, one in front of the American man, and another somewhat back. Something had fallen on the American's chest - looked like bird-shit, and the guy in front of him was trying to wipe it off with paper-towels out of a box - because, you know how people walk around the city with boxes of paper-towels... The hit goes like this: they squirt something on your shirt, and while one pretends to help you, the other relieves you of whatever he can from pockets or, in this case, a fanny pack. I just stood there in plain sight, no more than 10 feet away, pointedly watching them while I took out my cell phone and pretended to call 911 (I was out of charge but they didn't know that). Three seconds later the guys scurried away and I talked to the couple to let them know what had almost happened. This was near Retiro station. So, yes, be careful. And no specific areas, be careful everywhere. Buenos Aires is not a crime city, but tourists are preferred marks, so the risk is higher - particularly if you do look like the stereotypical tourist. PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. You need a SUBE card. Be warned: On buses (colectivos) and the subway (subtes) you use it ONLY to go up or in. But if you take a train, you have to use to go into the platform, and then again to go out at your destination. If you miss one, you'll get charged for the longest trip on that line, even if you only went from one station to the next . Won't bankrupt you, though. Public services are cheap. All other trips, yes, Uber is better. TIPPING. Yes, but. There are arguments around tipping here, as there is everywhere else in the world. I will not say "most here" because it is inviting the wrath of non-tippers. I´ll give just my take. Tipping is not an obligation, it is a courtesy to someone who is waiting on us, who is giving us a personal service. So be it a waiter, a bell-hop, a delivery service, or a driver, I tip everyone. But I do tip in relation to the service. In those cases where there is a payment involved, as in a restaurant or a taxi, if I got a standard service, I tip 10%. If it was excellent, sky's the limit. In one occasion, the table service was so out of this world, I tipped the waitresses the full amount of the tab. But if it sucks - and it was because of the person giving the service - I do not tip at all. Meaning, if the food sucked but the waiter was great, I do tip it since it was not his fault. So, I tip taxi drivers too (I don't personally know anyone who doesn't at least let them keep the change). On the other hand, nobody will actually cuss you here if you don't tip (or tip them badly). POLITICS. Yes. Picture it like a foreigner coming to NYC and starting to talk about race. With the addition that you won't see the political color of the people you are talking to. So, mine field, keep out. Be careful even around soccer (futbol). If you go to a soccer match, watch your surroundings, lest you celebrate a goal for the other team. Could get nasty really quick. Same, when there is a match, you might find bars and restaurants with big screen for patrons to watch the game. Be neutral. Particularly in bars in some quarters, booze can make fans overly sensitive.
I have to agree with almost everything, I just find soccer very boring. I am happy that you explored Belgrano and the little Chinatown. And taxi cabs are fine too, I'm happy they exist, because I had no WIFI while I was in Buenos Aires so I couldn't do ubers. I took a lot of subways, trains and buses, but sometimes those taxis saved my life!

Unfortunately cab drivers are known for taking advantage of outsiders, noy only from other countries, they do that to anyone who is not from Buenos Aires
Bella bella Buenos Aires.
Great video! I'm going on holiday to Argentina from 17 March until 2 April: Buenos Aires, Ushuaia, and El Calafate. This will be my third visit to Argentina. However, my previous visits were a long time ago: mid 80's and early 90's. I am going to see if Argentina is a good country to retire to when I finally retire in '26. Besides the unstable currency, my greatest concern about Argentina is that I'm vegan. During my first visit to Argentina, I was a carnivore. On my second visit to Argentina in the early 90s, I was a vegetarian and did not find BA vegetarian-friendly at all. Hopefully, the vegan/vegetarian situation in BA at least has ameliorated in the last three decades.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed. Have fun on your trip!
Argentinian here, The street are way more dangerous than just some pickpockets. Being in the wrong spot at a wrong time could get you killed. Never go outside at night, unless you are in a known safe part of the city ( ask a local and he will gladly tell you what parts of the city avoid, and where you can feel safe). And some parts of the city should be completely avoided even during plain daylight. Also, for most Europeans and North Americans. What you consider to be dangerous, is the normal in Buenos Aires ( and some other big cities of Argentina). PD: Yeah, i said American, butsaying American in a public website like youtube is completely different than saying it in the face of any Latin American.

Not true most of Capital Federal is safe, the problem lies in Great Buenos Aires
@F4STF1V3
3 жыл бұрын
@@TheGraphiteCovenant Well, Belgrano, Palermo, Caballito, Recoleta, and a few more, have some really safe places. But outside that , they are safe but only for Argentinian standards in safety. If you compare them with the most known European cities, those neighborhoods would be considered unsafe. The problem isn´t only in great Bs As, the south of Capital Federal is also really dangerous.

Nice video! In Argentina if you don´t want to fight, you should not talk politics or futbol haha Of course you can talk politics! But you have to expect a heated conversation about it. We are very passionate about discussing our points on that subject, but also we love to know and compare other cultures and points of view (although not necessarily agreeing with them)

@mharg6408

Ok now this is a good video, I just came from a video that said "do not pet dogs in the street because they are wild"...like... WTF?!?? They are the most adorable creatures on earth. Nice video XD
Of course football. Argentina is home to the greatest football player of all time.

*The name of the continent is America, not the Americas, for you cannot pluralize the name of continents. In fact, the name of America appears for the first time on a map over Brazilian territory. As a Latin America, I take offense when they call the U.S. America. The USA is in the North of the American continent.*
