Reminds me of my local. When there are more people than setups, we'll slot some people in on our cheap laptops. Some people get to play Blazblue and Strive, others are stuck with Inuyasha Feudal Fairytale.

Strive is the worst part in the Guilty Gear series. gutted gameplay, no representation for most of the canon characters in the series. no storylines. I think this will be the same funeral as Gilty Gear Strive himself. there is nothing to hope for.

my Locals ARE that serious. Every week i go and dont talk to anyone. I dont make friends, i dont have any fun whatsoever. And I go there to win every single time. Im still going 0-2 and people give me weird looks.....but oh man give me 3years and everyone will be begging me asking how im so amazing.

Obama would cook em lmao. I have never been to a local per se. I live in Michigan and went to Youmacon once with some friends. Unfortunately, I got there too late to meet Cristina Vee. I know there’s a lot of Noel haters, but I love the character so that would’ve been perfect. Anyways, they had a gaming area with Tekken 7 cabinets, SFV, 3rd Strike, some gundam game, an actual tournament going on in the center of the room, GG Xrd and BBCF and other games on consoles. They also had a tabletop section and also more choices that weren’t fighting games. I would’ve liked to “compete” lol but I was there with friends so it was still nice to play fighting games with other people on cabinets and just have fun. Anyways, it was dope, and I wish I would’ve attended more things like that. But just like with everything else not everybody has a good attitude. I agree with your take on the video for sure. Sorry, there’s never a TLDR version with me. Edit: Also, the closest thing I got to your final question is that same experience. I met an online friend for the first time and she was playing GG. Anyways, she kept waking up with throw with Jack-O and her opponent kept taking it. He legit got mad and started flaming. So my buddy was clapping and cheering in the background, “That’s my girl!” LMFAOOO

As someone who quite literally breaks down from audio sensory overload, I just bring noise cancelling headphones to any big event, if it’s a gaming event/tourney/local, I plug it into MY controller so the other person still has sound. It quite literally is that simple, that weirdo was just being an ass and thought he could use his excuse to get sympathy

I feel like sf6 hit a nice balance between keeping new and returning players happy (though I think it could've used some more tools for people who actually *do* want to learn motions but are struggling). I do also think marketing is more important by far. It's not like DNF Duel is printing money compared to Strive. Doesn't hurt to have the option of M-style controls though. If future games take their lessons from SF6 I'll be perfectly happy.

Lowering the floor is fine as long as you don't lower the ceiling with it. Strive has a problem with high-level players often feeling like the game is solved or flowchart-y - you're just not playing optimally if you don't use wild assault, dp rc, wall break, positive bonus etc. every single chance you get. But SF6 did a decent job of giving good tools for newbies that also add complexity at a high level and retain the same things that appeal to high-level play. I love that the core appeal of Street Fighter neutral and combo structure is there, but the Drive mechanics add another layer of complexity to the choices you make. DI may be one-button offense and highly risky if correctly anticipated, but you have to respect it at all levels of play.
