(Time to put on MY tinfoil hat) When they interviewed Nakayama about why they choose Elena as the only returning SF3 character. His response was that they wanted an African representative and the game doesn't have a capoeira user in it. Nothing about her being an SF3 character. If we look at the leaked base roster, each character art had their country's flag next to them. Also, you meet each character in World tour in either Metro City, Nayshall (the game's fictional Middle East nation), or a specific country with just the 1 fighter. I think if a character already occupies the country another character is from, then they most likely won't get added. But, if they live in a country that hasn't been added yet then they have a decent chance. Hakan being (I think) the only Turkish Wrestler in mainline Street Fighter and being from Turkey means he's very likely. Unfortunately, now I feel like Makoto and Sean are less likely since Japan and Brazil are already occupied. Hopefully, I'm wrong or they at least find a way to include them in Metro City or Nayshall.

Jiyuna spitting the truth as always. The influx of money in esports is good but the Saudi government is suspicious af. They're notoriously anti LGBTQ+ and the prince ordered a brutal assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. I understand why some eSports players and organizations would overlook the misdeeds of the Saudi Government but Capcom adding SNK characters for a fat paycheck is just greedy.

I'm very conflicted. On the one hand, I'm hype to see what they will do with Terry and Mai in the SF6 system. But on the other hand it's a) too soon and b) half the season roster being guest is whack. Bison looks sick and you can tell they are getting quite creative with character mechanics so they may actually cook with Elena as well.

I think the guest characters are put in at the optimal times for advertising the new Fatal Fury game, this is probably why it seems strange or heavy handed to you. I think they could have gotten away with just doing one and then giving the battle pass some memorabilia like they did with various anime franchises so far.

2 guest characters this early feels jank to me. I said I'd puke if Strive had a guest character before Slayer/Jam/Dizzy and I feel the same for SF6 here. Too many good older characters to include before getting to the guest cast

My boy Bipson is back and to spice things up they invited Terry and Mai. I love this.

I'd like to see Yun & Yang back. Oro or Necro even. I haven't really played much 6 at all really, but I feel like those characters would be fun to see played in the SF6 engine.

I love this idea of getting Guest Characters in earlier into the games life. Akira felt like the BIG guest for SFV because she finally brought Rival Schools into the SF main games, but she was right near the end of the games life. Having these guests come in earlier so we get more longevity out of them across multiple seasons and tournaments is way more exciting to me.

I dont mind those characters but we need Makoto

I also don’t really care about the guest characters, but for a different reason. Bison was one of my mains in SFV so I’m happy he’s back and I don’t mind whoever the others are. Though I agree that there should’ve been only one guest char.

Agree one guest is more reasonable. Would have loved a less obvious choice like Yamazaki or Andy but they’re not money making choices like Terry and Mai.

elena is the only hype character in that season.

Just 1 wouldve been cool, but 2? I agree it's too much. There was a rumour floating around that season 2 was going to be 6 characters, and if that were the case then both guests would have been fine, as they essentially would've been bonuses, however it takes too long for them to add characters and too many characters are missing for half of the pass to be guests. For reference, there are now going to be more Fatal Fury characters than there are SF3, SF4, and (if we count Luke as an SF6 newcomer) is tied with SF5.

Very excited for Terry. Could've passed on Mai but it does add new female fighters. I do think we are probably getting CvS3 announcement soon, though. There's also that "special tease" for kof15. Capcom and SNK have been working together for awhile with their mobile game too.

I want this, 2 guests seems great.

I'm actually excited for these 2 I think I don't necessarily see them as generic guests I think they're classic and if they're in 6 its because they're thinking of the game as classic status too. (I will keep thinking that until they start adding really obnoxious cosmetics like in 5, if they ever do that)

Honestly, Joker from P5 would be kinda hype lol. I think the guest characters are interesting. I do think 2 is a lot cause I would have liked a new character but I'm still interested to see how they go.

I hope they do something unique with Elena's healing and it plays like Celica or something similar.

I'm happy about Terry and Bison for sure. Mai and Elena? Meh. We could've gotten 2 better slot fillers tbh! Ibuki instead of Mai would've been perfect. And Makoto instead of Elena. Oh well.

If I look at the fighting games I own, most of them have Terry Bogard as a playable character. About a third of them are games made by SNK. I do not need to play Terry and Mai in Street Fighter 6. I can play them in just about everything else.

This makes sense now. The Saudi’s are pushing for their emblem SNK characters to be guest in other games to help raise up SNK fighting games. At least this probably means a Capcom vs SNK game

Since Arcsys likes to follow capcom trend. This means that Akuma and a Blazblue character needs to be added to strive. Alternatively, a UNI or Melty character can work too

true, theres so many SNK characters I would've rather had as guests. Kyo,Rock, Isla, Angel, K, Iori the list goes on. Terry and Mai although popular, I also think are pretty generic and uninteresting.

Agree that adding both Terry & Mai aren't very hype and feel more like throw away characters that don't require much innovation. 2B was a good edition for GBVSR and plays rather unique although she's not a runaway "SHOCKING" addition to the game but still more hype than Terry AND Mai. They should have just added Mai only and added either Dudley or G

The guest character complaint is really weird but I assume it's because of how badly guest characters were done recently. Lets go over this in recent memory; That guy from The Walking Dead, Noctis from Final Fantasy, Nolan from Invisible, Homelander, Peacemaker, etc. A bunch of people with no relation to fighting games being guests in a fighting game. Than we have Terry and Mai with deep history in fighting games and capcom themselves being put on the same pedestal as other guest characters. I see people complaining about the Street Fighter 6 guests completely ignoring the guests' influence on fighting games as a whole. I'm glad they are here and happy to see what the dev team does with them.

You will be hard pressed to find a Street Fighter character on the same level of popularity as Terry or Mai. Let's be honest here, very honest. The most popular Street Fighter characters in 6 are already available to play. Outside of like Sakura at best, there is no one more popular in the genre then Terry or Mai that are Street Fighter characters. The rest are essentially cool additions but not that popular.

And don't forget that the creator of Street Fighter and Fatal Fury is the same person. It's like they (Terry and Mai) return to the same creator in the Street Fighter game. Illuminati used 2B as an example of a guest character, who is also not a fighting game character, on the same level as fighting game characters Terry and Mai. Do you see what I mean by comparing non fighting game characters and forcing those non fighting game characters to take slots for a fighting game character who people honestly like? For some reason the people who are upset at a pair of KoF characters in SF6 are saying they are just as intrusive as non fighting game characters put into as guests into a fighting game. That is crazy to me. I would honestly be far happier to see real fighting game characters make it as a dlc spot, regardless of when they are introduced, then seeing like Dragonborn or a souls character or a Monster Hunter.
