I'll be playing Akuma because I spent the money. I'll be playing on Modern because Classic hurts my hands on faster characters. Yes I'm part of the problem you cannot stop me. In all seriousness if I can wrap my head around Akuma's game plan in Modern to the point where it's second nature, I might be able to make the switch over to Classic.

Modern got me into street fighter for real,it made it so much easier to learn the fundementals, to the point where now i'm at the point where i have an actual gameplan and i'm executing it, or registering and reacting to my opponents gameplan. Reached master with ryu, chun, ken, luke, cammy,, so akuma is next for sure

I'm struggling in high plat/low dia...I'm doing nothing of what your guide says to do! Excited to implement these strats into my gameplay and start enjoying him more

Great Guide!. For me is very dificult to do drive rush Auto+M->cr.H . I get like 1 in 10. I found that a fine replacement could be drive rush M->Auto+M->Auto+M. It makes a little less damage, but it also make crouching oponents to get up so the Tastu can connect. I don't have any problems with drive rush foward+H->cr. H, but the other one I just can get it.

Yup, that’s actually how I started and it’s completely fine. More important to finish the combo than to maximize damage.

Worst part about Modern are the controls/Assist button

You’re a good teacher

he can at least do the classic demon shortcut of combining the last 2 inputs so its L>L>LMH still 3 inputs, but at least its slightly easier than having to press 2 buttons and a direction. He also easy anti-air confirms off jMP cause your supers are one button. (but losing jMK is definitely not worth) Missing the overhead alone is enough for him to be worse than classic, and raging demon is like a treat you really don't use it cause he has such high dmg combos worth dumping meter for. (he also technically has an overhead off his M>H target combo that you can mixup between stHK as a psuedo mixup but it is not worth it just very meme-worthy)

When are you going to a modern tier list?

yeah, no jump medium kick and over head or reversal super make me go back to ryu

Do you have an updated modern tier list? New to sf6 and not sure who are some good characters to invest in on the modern side.

Good range, faster strartup than cr.MK, solid combo tool. Overall very good button.

For me, it's weird. I can do the raging demon, but not the demon teleport

What about modern Shin Akuma though????

Meanwhile M. Ed is competitive like Cammy/Luke/Lily? is there any other character that became better in modern with the update?

Make total sense Modern Akuma is bad, specially Modern Akuma dont have Modern Raging Demon, so Jiyuna, Classic Akuma > Modern Akuma

Modern raging demon is slightly altered from classic. They removed the forward input, so u just have to press the buttons. So it's about 1 button faster.

i literally just wanted the overhead, plz capcom don't take away the overheads

I actually dont mind Modern Akuma.

It was only a matter of time before modern controls hit a wall. The team may have to get more creative to make modern players happy, I honestly thought this would be more of an issue with AKI but here we are. I’m kind of excited to see how they improve on the “simple” gaming option, they go hard on players who use modern but I couldn’t imagine not having access to all my normals 😭😩😩

i mapped mine to right thumb stick..all i do is press foward and dubble tap and it works like a charm lmao

I still can't believe we did not get an instant raging demon in modern.... (even though the demon input is somewhat simplified in modern). Also, if you do the shin akuma in modern, you still cannot do the double air fireball nor one of the added supers (quarter circle back twice + kick)

You can do the Shin Akuma supers in modern though??? I was literally just testing him out in the training room a few hours ago and the only thing Shin Akuma loses in modern is the double air fireball and everything else mentioned in the video.

Hey everyone I know this has nothing to do with the video but im actually asking for help lately I usually do well in tournaments with modern characters like cammy, akuma and guile but now lately I’ve been doing so bad that I don’t even win my first winners and losers matches anymore. I was wondering if anyone can help and if so please. I would like to spar and perhaps if any of you have time to coach me as I’m worried for evo because I’m actually going to compete at evo for the first time in this game. Thank you for understanding. Classic is the better way to go when learning Gouki/Akuma .

If you're only playing modern because you want an advantage, you're going to left wanting every time because you will always be trading in a portion of the classic arsenal. Modern is simply a different way to play the game and clicks better with some people.

@@ANIMEILLUMINATI Definitely! I'm diamond 5 with my modern Rashid and on my way to Master. I play mostly casual matches and I've just been playing a few ranked matches every week. My biggest problem with Modern is that the devs decide how good each character is purely by what they lose. It feel arbitrary at times because some characters lose overheads and some keep them. I think there should be like Modern A, B, C, versions of each character that have different tradeoffs. Or let the player decided which level (light, medium, heavy) of the direction specials they get.

Tell me it ain't so, the Modern Demon isn't meta?

Yeah, Akuma’s thing is being Ryu with more tools but less health, so it makes more sense to play modern Ryu then Akuma with less tools.

You still make Modern Akuma look like an menace, but he seems to be the kind of character who really benefits from playing Classic even before we get into the damage difference. They made the right call by tuning him for Classic, though he's aight in Modern.

Hard disagree, he's so easy to play on modern. Modern raging demon is also way easier. Medium assist combo comes out fast and is an auto hit confirm and does big damage. Don't forget assisted combos do not have a damage penalty

Modern demon is exactly the same as Classic in terms of input speed. Auto combo is also not something worth using past the basic level.

@@ANIMEILLUMINATI basic is a vague term. I'd argue a majority of players would do more damage over time using auto combos than manual or hybrid modern combos just due to reliability. It's like every kid thinks he should shoot threes because it's the most efficient choice for NBA players when these kids would score more going for lay ups. Most people are basic and will forever be basic

At least he's not as bad as Modern Ryu.

I’d say more like top 5. Sure he loses some normals but honestly I don’t notice it much.. I did change my binds which allows for me to only press two buttons tho. Mf is a menace 😭

If modern akuma sucks, then Good! you have to earn to play as akuma with skill. It's always been that way since he showed up. Even to get to fight against him you had to prove yourself worthy.
