The obvious danger is the masses will be less able to problem solve, but there will always be a cohort of manipulators that can. In a democracy, an uninformed populace will do as they’re told.

I walk a mile after work everyday. Now 1 mile does not seem much until you factor in i carry a 100 pound sandbag for my mile walk without putting it down. Trust me, for starters carrying a 50 lb bag will break most of you but once you can go the whole mile you will feel amazing and you will be strong. During the mile you will tell yourself i want to set the bag down many, many times. Dont give in. It is training the mind to never give up.

I wholeheartedly disagree. This eternal war with the inside, the ego, cripples man who was supposed to do great things in this world. Life is a fatal game played once in a limited time. Small self-centric sense ego is dangerous. The cure to small ego is a massive ego which involves raising and working with other people with the utter conviction that the team is the best in the world. Why would anyone ever walk this earth being ashamed of thinking they are not the best at what they do? What are well all without an ego?

When I first found Ryan I was really impressed at how smart he was, and how he "walked the walk." Then I started seeing the Masking nonsense, and I was proven wrong. No Stoic would have fallen for the Masking up hoax. However the corporate fat cats at Honeywell, 3M, and Kimberly Clark thank you for your free commercials directed at the ignorant for them.

You have to put more context into the 3rd, 6th and 8th. IMO, those are controversial if not provided context. 3rd: how can you sure that your opinion is more toward the "right" opinion or better opinion that the others, that's just self-centered. You have to consider both opinions, that is the rule of "debating". 6th: we have to be reachable for important and urgent matters, most specifically, those matters that won't get resolved if we aren't reachable in time. I haven experienced this in the most painful way. 8th, outside approval is actually a valuable measures about how well you are doing things, how can you so sure your standard is good enough?

In short, what Aurelius was saying (in modern venacular) is that ppl are like cars. And just like cars, just because one is driven, that does not mean they are goung in the right direction. It takes more than drive/ambition to make it in today's world. One must have direction. Without a moral compass, all the drive in the world gets you lost.

At 0:48 there seems to be a false premise, in my opinion. "Feelings are private and internal, emotions are public and observable". Envy is an emotion that can only transpire but can never be declared. The envious person can never show that he is envious since doing so would make public and obvious his inferiority and the suffering he suffers for it. The envious man hides himself as much as the arrogant man shows himself.

The problem that I struggle with is this, if I don’t confront them or say anything, or make an example, then they’ll just keep going on with that behavior towards other people. If we just keep ignoring people, not showing them consequences, and clean up after them, then it feels like we are enabling. I had a college professor that was going through a divorce(unprofessionally told us about it, not trying to be heartless but we all got shit going on), she was always late, she got behind in giving us assignments. One day she came in and said you got 10 minutes to read these pages then you will have a quiz because we are behind. everyone was frustrated and freaking out. So I raised my hand and called “bullshit” but I was actually nicer about it. She took me outside and flipped out on me and said I will never undermine her like that and Ill have go in and take the quiz. I explained how unfair and unprofessional she was and we were all tired of it. and Instead of letting her push us around, I went and grabbed my quiz, threw it in the trash can and left. After that the other students told me a different day, that after I left, they said she cried and left the room. So the next class I came back and she said “let me know when you want to schedule to take the quiz”. And after that, she became professional and we never had an issue with her class again! So Im more vigilante than “high road”. Im also refining my tactics as I get older.

Lesson I learned from the podcast - 1 Nothing is going to go on forever. 2 Do your best . 3 Reflect on your action everyday . 4 It is imperative that you have someone who tells you the absolute truth . Please add more if you want . 5 Historic moments are not made with dramatic music , there is no music playing in the background during such times . 6 Be aware of your emotions , making decisions while being emotional are the worst decisions.
