In this context, one of my favorite quotes is that of my favorite stoic philosopher, Seneca "The fool, with all his other faults, has this also, he is always getting ready to live."

Unfortunately, I spent much of my life being a fool, always getting ready to live. Fortunately, that is no longer the case for me. Now, I am living today.

One of the most egregious errors we make is the arrogance of thinking we have more time.

it is the memento mori attitude of the stoics I have the biggest problem with.... As an ADHD person, stoicism is kinda helpful to me. But I've spent my entire life lamenting and regretting and beating me up about not reaching my full potential, not delivering on what I expect myself to, let alone others. Not "living my life to the fullest". This led to depression and anxiety. I had too free myself from that pressure to finally feel better. This memento mori attitude however is playing the same strings, and I don't want the pressure.... I CAN'T have the pressure, if I actually want to achieve things in life!

Firstly, I empathize with your struggles. However, I don't think the idea is to absolutely live life to the fullest and make that giant leap from 0-100 in a day. The idea is for us to just keep improving, every single day, a quest to better ourselves. If for some reason, you can only manage one step a day while you watch others take a hundred, take that single step with so you have, and go to bed knowing that you improved over your previous self, coz that's the only person you should be competing against, not any other person out there in the world. I wish you all the light this world has to offer🎉😊

You could get a phone call from your doctor or loved on, literally while you're reading this comment, that will completely upend and reset your priorities. Don't wait for life to remind you of mortality, live life remembering you and yours are no more permanent or real than a subatomic particle that blips in and out of existence.

Life is a rip off. Whatever dude. I take full responsibility for my self and every decision I’ve made and going to make. Of course they’re all wrong and in hindsight I would do nothing the same, nevertheless, here I stand screaming frick you still. Thanks for not 1 fucken thing
