12 (Stoic) Secrets For Doing Your Best

👟 Get HOKA's new Mach 6 now at hoka.com
The Stoics knew a thing or two about lost causes.
They knew about low probabilities. They never let that stop them. Cato gave everything he had, despite what many saw as the inevitable rise of Caesar, to preserve the Roman Republic…and very nearly pulled it off. Washington sat in Valley Forge at the lowest point of the American Revolution, poorly supplied by Congress, undermined by his generals, and put on a play about Cato to inspire him and his men to keep going. Stockdale resisted his captors for nearly a decade, doing his best under incredible circumstances, keeping the soldier’s faith in his country, his soldiers, and himself.
You can’t do the same? You think you’re entitled to give less than your all because someone else has let you down? Because things are not to your liking?

The distinction between your best (not quitting + giving it your all in that moment) and your 100% is really important. The key is to give it your best in those moments where you aren't performing optimally so you can build strong habits and live without regret

Me n my wife lost our baby girl on Wed night 19 weeks into our pregnancy. It was our 5th n final round of IVF. Then i nearly lost my wife to a sepsis infection. We come home from the hospital last night n my wife is on the mend. This channel has helped get me through these dark days. As Publilius Syrus said, "Not all is lost when something is lost." Thankyou for your video's.

I apologize if this has been asked before, but how do you deal with failing despite giving it your absolute best? There have been a couple of times in my life where I gave something my best and failed, and all I could think was "wow, even my best couldn't cut it." Most of the time I don't feel that way, but those stand out to me. Thanks for sharing your content!

Success, as does failure, depends on more variables than just our best, variables that are-most of the time-not within our control. But even when they are-within control-you must find joy in the fact that you gave it your best, and the nature in which you did so. Find success in the process. Have a great life.

I have trouble giving my best and giving my 100%, because I even started doing it while brushing my teeth and washing my hands. I want to be focused on everything I'm doing and free from all distractions in every aspect of life. I think It's too much, so what should I focus on? Thank you

So, which of the Virtues covers someone slurring another with an unsubstantiated claim about the nefarious way the someone else sold more books than they did? Btw, definitely not a Trump fan here. Just asking.......
