My family is of German desent. The kitchen is where everything started. Homemade bread, preserves and of course the dinners that ONLY Grandma could get it Right. Chef Jaques Pepin was the only Chef that my Mother thought was a better cook than her. ...You know what? Mom was a great cook!

My dad used to watch Yan Can cook all the time when I was in my late teens. Always raved about how funny he was. Often we would watch together and just be in fits of laughter. My dad passed away 20 years ago. When I recently found out Yan was still going I was like "wow, I wish I could tell dad" Good to see Yan still going. It makes me remember better times.

You know you’re a pro when you use the measuring spoon (still attached to the ring full of other measuring spoons, no less) to mix and apply your sauces! Gotta love Jacques Pépin. He’s a culinary master who shows regular people how to cook.

So black residents got tricked by a white official....then turn to a white man to save them, ending in their demise? Playing checkers while the colonizers play chess, perpetually. No amount of romantic symbolism can save when you're on the table.
