For those who are just finding this video it's worth mentioning that Spotify announced today that the Car Thing's software support will be discontinued as of December 2024. This will render the devices unusable. From Spotify: "After December 9th, 2024, Car Thing will be discontinued and will no longer be operational."
If you had asked me, I would have told you anyway. As an Apple employee, I spend approximately 9 hours at home in front of the imac. Unfortunately, the mouse's battery drains when I'm not careful. And then an idea came to my mind. I said I would work with the laser part of the mouse on the table and the charging cable not touching the table. but the idea didn't work. In short, yes, it was stupid.
I have had an old midi pad I bought years ago for learning to make music, I never even thought to use it as a macropad. THANK YOU!
I don't understand what the obsession is with the charging port. I literally have to charge my mouse like once every 3 months. Just plug the thing in when you go out or to bed and you're good to go for another 120 freaking days lol.

Why do you need to use while charging, it's not like you can't work 1 hour without a mouse. It's good efforts you put in but it's unnecessary and sort of overkill.
You could have checked if it would work or not just by contacting the mouse with the charger and moving your finger over the sensor.
well an easier trackball mouse to use is the Logitech Mx Ergo wireless trackball. coz you use like a regular mouse just using you thumb to move the cursor.
“What could possibly go wrong?” Everything. That’s what could go wrong, and go wrong, it did. Ugh. Apple, why must you function this way?? Seems like it’s not designed to charge while on (my Canon Vixia also isn’t, but it simply won’t charge while it’s running), and because they’re not anticipating for it to be usable while charging, they decided the charge function would override the in-use function; OR they’re being straight up malicious here and preventing that workaround (you’d at least need to change the BMS for one that doesn’t do that. Which means either designing one yourself or, if anyone is in this business, buying one that a DIY-er sells and makes). At least you don’t have to remove it from the base to charge it? So it’s not entirely in vain? Regardless, I’ve never liked the idea of combining a mouse and a touchpad. Those gestures always get in the way in my experience!

Great idea but that screen is too small and too low. Will inevitably cause some serious back and neck problems looking down at such an angle. My suggestion is out the screen in an adjustable arm so that it can be held at the right distance and height for healthy ergonomics.

Completely agree on your scores. Build quality is pretty rough, but I love my AC19! Printed custom keyboard labels on sticker paper and have been using the device a wireless handheld cheaper StreamDeck. The software meets my needs great and was able to map the buttons to F13-F22 (and map those to OBS features) and the wheel as my volume control. Fits great in phone holders too. For the price and battery life, it's a big winner. Sucks it was discontinued, but can be found cheap on some old-stock retailers
mouse that competes and beats MX Master 3 is EVGA x15 series, but its wired. However its better :)
I tihink it would have been better if you recorded how many hours of active typing with the split keyboard. It took me around 20 hours on moneytype to get used to my split keyboard and get back to 70 wpm.
I tried all browsers, but I cannot access the download. It kept saying the error message problem loading page.
Thank you ! I bought the AC19 thanks to your review and it works well ! I use it when back from work, it’s on the table I press a few keys and it wakes the Mac/opens Music app/plays a song randomly from my playlists a bit like turning on the radio… I use the wheel for volume and buttons for next/previous etc. Great gadget !

I want a tiny monitor for my setup. I use a really old 16:10 VGA only monitor so i can watch youtube videos. All i need, is like a really square, and 10 inch screen or something with good resolution. Also, i really need to replace my primary LG monitor... It's gotta be like 6 years old.
120 bucks aint bad. i like my numpad but dont use it too much. the extra macros + wheel would be exactly what i need.

I like this idea. I'm an engineer and stuck in the mac world. This made me realize ... a 4th generation ipad mini is about the same price (refurbished for sale on amazon for 140, about the same price as this m9 lenovo) and could do the same things. It should function with sidecar to be a wireless monitor for your mac set up working as your third monitor (macbook pro supports up to 3 external monitors). This leaves your main monitor set up for everything else. One monitor for the IDE to write the code, a second monitor for research and email. Then, this should let the ipad function as a third display for spotify controls, and also an always visible view of your upcoming meetings.
Why not go for the Keychron Q0 Max numpad that matches your keyboard?

Ummmm. As much as this sounds great, all of this is generalisation for macropads, rather than specific for this particular piece of hardware.
