I Tried Making a MIXED REALITY Desk Setup!

Ғылым және технология

Mixed Reality is here and can be useful for getting work done as well as relaxing. In this video I compare a pair of mixed reality glasses to the recently released Apple Vision Pro.
Disclosure: The VITURE glasses were provided to me for testing, but the manufacturer had no input over the content of this video.

TLDW: These glasses ARE NOT a replacement for Vision Pro, but they do share a few key features (Spatial Video, 3D Movies, Virtual Macbook Screen) for a WAY cheaper price.

Then why even start to compare the two? Sure, there exists some small overlap between the Vision Pro and the Viture glasses, but they're totally different product categories. It's like comparing a portable monitor like a Lenovo ThinkVision M14 to a MacBook Pro. But even then, the features that are shared by both portable monitors and laptops are considered key features of both products; namely having the ability to use a screen anywhere. The features overlapping between the Viture glasses and a Vision Pro (Spatial Video, 3D Movies, Virtual Macbook Screen) are not even considered "key" features of the Vision Pro - no one is buying a Vision Pro with specifically and solely for these features (or at least for $3,499 I hope they aren't). So, it would actually be a closer analogy to say this video is like a comparison between a BlueTooth keyboard to a MacBook Pro.

When I was a kid in the 90s I DREAMED (DREAMT?) of having glasses that could record what I see as I love photography and making videos. There was also this 2004 movie "The Final Cut" starring Robin Williams in which people can record what they see. If I had known that you can someday watch series with your glasses I would have loved that too. Now as an adult I'm not sure if I should get them. Do they strain your eyes? I have pretty bad eyesight already lol

These can be used with any device that can output to a 2nd screen, right? I appreciate the brevity of your video, but this seems like a point worth emphasizing for those who don't keep *everything* in the Apple ecosystem.

Eh... one issue is that the Quest can do its own work. You need to remember that you need to bring your laptop along, whereas I just need the Quest Pro and a keyboard. Otherwise, as a second monitor, it looks 'okay.' Also, not sure how well this would work with my already existing glasses, which work fine on a Quest Pro, but not HMDs like those.

To be honest I have both the Viture and the xreal air 2 and huge huge difference. The airs been more bright and colorful. As well as playing a smoother 3D playback for spatial videos

@@Eddjz What are you talking about? Xreal even can't natively support spatial video without conversions or Viture's spacewalker and you have to manually switch to 3D, with Viture, everything is seamless. Have you even used them?

I literally have both. Viture being garbage to be honest. The only thing got going for itself is that you can adjust it for people who wears glasses. Both glasses you hold a button and switched to 3D. Image on Viture is garbage compared to the real air 2. Please do your homework or have your own actual experience

You are very naive. First of all I record in spatial video on iPhone 15 pro max. Just like you use an app for Viture to watch your 3D videos I use an app called spatialify. Connect the xreal air 2 and I hold the button to go into 3D mode. Guess what? I do the same with Viture and has less frame per second and quality isn't micro oled like air 2s so I hate them. Like I said I have both and I bet you never tried xreal 😂

Great video man! Thanks for all the time and effort you put into this. At the end of the day kinda feels like a $3,500 toy vs a $400 toy. You made some great comparisons here with all the caveats of mentioning obv this is nowhere close to a VisionPro, but it’s still a dope piece of tech worth considering for a similar vibe. Idk why a few folks in the comments are so uptight about it lol
