    Yes, super display is great. I have a Lenovo yoga tab 13 and it has an HDMI INPUT to attach to a computer but even though that was my plan, super display works better and one reason is that it gives you a touch monitor. (With stylus if the android tablet has one like mine does). Your use of the second display using Android apps is a great solution. Using super display as needed is great. Simple when used daily with a complex twist when needed. Space desk works, too especially if you want to use an older android tablet or an ipad (even old ipads like an ipad 2)

    Ooh yes! I do some of the same things with a first generation Samsung Galaxy Tab A, but your video gave me more ideas! It primarily serves as a Home Assistant panel when I'm not using it with my main PC. When my PC is on, I have it running Deckboard instead and propped up using a MOFT stand I have attached to the back of an unbranded clear case that the tablet is attached to. (2:15) Yep, I do also use it to control Spotify playback, especially when I listen to podcasts! (2:54) I haven't yet tested SuperDisplay on my main PC, but tested it on my secondary PC and can confirm that it works great. On my actual desk setup my main PC would be connected to, it would come in handy for when I want to have easy touch controls for a specific window. (5:17) On mine, I just have two KWGT widgets set up in a way that replicates the look of the Google Nest Hub ambient mode. However, I also have AndSY installed and set up to automatically launch the Home Assistant app on Android start-up. (1:08) Yep! The only brands I can think of that provide Android with its stock UX (give or take some device manufacturer add-ons) are Google, Sony, Lenovo, Nokia, Fairphone, and Planet Computers. I think there may be more but I'm not sure.

    Dude this is exatcly what I was looking for for my home/office setup. I'm a multi-monitor guy, so I already have a dual-monitor setup for video editing and productivity, but I found myself needing more room for display some videos, controling my music and having some dashboard on, while still using the other two monitors on full screen. It was exactly what you mentioned on the video! I specially liked the wireless screen-mirrowing and the widgets part. I'm buying it now

    this is exactly what i've been doing for a few years now, i have a crappy android tablet leaning on my lamp as a secondary display or music control or clock or notifications, i dont have the space for a secondary display so this solution is perfect for me, when i use it as a secondary display i use spacedesk, also for charging i have it plugged in into the pc so it slowly gets charged overtime

    I’m a Mac user and have been using an iPad Mini as an accessory monitor for years. Apple has supported using an iPad as a fully functional external monitor over wifi for a long time, and you could do it with third party apps before that. The iPad is a lot more expensive than this tablet, though.

  • @zero11010
    @zero11010Ай бұрын

    I like this idea. I'm an engineer and stuck in the mac world. This made me realize ... a 4th generation ipad mini is about the same price (refurbished for sale on amazon for 140, about the same price as this m9 lenovo) and could do the same things. It should function with sidecar to be a wireless monitor for your mac set up working as your third monitor (macbook pro supports up to 3 external monitors). This leaves your main monitor set up for everything else. One monitor for the IDE to write the code, a second monitor for research and email. Then, this should let the ipad function as a third display for spotify controls, and also an always visible view of your upcoming meetings.

    If you want some more customization for your tablet's home screen, try some alternative launchers. My recommendation is Nova Launcher - while the coolest features are paywalled, it is by far my favorite of them all. Disguised as the stock google android launcher (or, to be more precise, the AOSP one), it lets you go out of bounds by customizing the layout grid (with far less restrictions than usual), allowing widgets to overlap, optionally bringing back features and/or looks from old Android versions (like letting you open the app drawer with an icon isnead of a gesture or adding a search bar that persists on all your home screen pages) and setting up cool and useful gestures for extra ease of use.

  • @firestorm117
    @firestorm1177 ай бұрын

    I never thought of it, but it makes sense. And it also seems like it doesn't work as well for say an ipad mini because, honestly, widgets are still a new thing in that ecosystem. Like I have one and am trying to set it up, but the widgets I have access to are significantly more limited and lower feature than on Android. So I'm struggling to think of what widgets I have access to or apps I can get that will add that sort of fucntionality to it. Otherwise I'll be using it more for apps and like web page dashboards

    How about we use Elgato mobile app (though paid) with it and turn it into something more than an expensive stream deck. Hope that will make another use of these android tablets. Also, you can use smart home apps to control various things, without turning your pc on. Edit: also, can you mention about its heat generation, since it's constantly turned on.

    re: your question about android tablets being better than we think, all reviews insist that everything is still not optimised for the android tablet, but at this point the only thing that doesn't really look perfect on an android tablet is instagram and maybe twitter depending on the week I guess (but personally I don't want to use either of them on my tablet as they're already such a time waste).

    I don't know if you have a bloom filter on your lens but at least to me watching on a MacBook Pro 16in M1 - 1440P the whole frame looks out of focus. And the stuff that isn't supposed to be in focus is just too bright and soft (not bokeh) just look off. I don't remember your videos looking like this so not sure if you were trying something new.

    It would be great if you did a video (or maybe a series) about all those appa that "instantly sync with your desktop via the cloud." You got really hand-wavey in that bit of the video. That was supposedly the primary factor that made the tablet usable as an accessory display, yet you gave it maybe 28 seconds. What are the apps? How do you set them up? How does having them available **while you are using your PC** actually enhance your workflow on the PC? I keep both my phone and tablet handy when at my PC because, well, it's my frikkin' desk. I check things like the weather on my phone instead of the PC simply because I'm used to the Google weather app. But that does nothing for my workflow on my PC. I have OneNote installed on all my devices. Yes, it syncs through the cloud. Yes i can edit outlines and shopping lists on any device. But, when I'm at my desk, I absolutely never reach for my tablet to edit something having to do with what i am currently working on on my PC. If anything, I'll edit my grocery list on my desktop, so it will be available on my phone while I'm at the store. But that is NOT what you were talking about. Quite frankly, it kinda feels as if this video had two sponsors, only one of which was disclosed. If you want us to believe that you actually use that tablet on a daily basis to ACTUALLY enhance your workflow on your PC, while you are at your desk, then I think you're going to need to put your mouth where your money was.

    Amazon tablets should be illegal. They're unusable after a couple of updates if you get any. I went through 2 of them because I have kids. The updates are forced. You can't use an SDcard to offset the internal storage on most apps. While the hardware is lacking, they should run ok for most ppl right, mostly content consumption. But the ads and horrible software, it's essentially a big scam.
