Jo Daddy's Garage

I'm a long time mechanic with a lot of experience working on classic cars and hot rods. Hope to get people excited about their cars, and getting them back on the road. I work on classic cars including Mustangs, Camaros, Chevelles, studebakers, and many more. I do detailed how to style videos showing ways to install sheet metal and make patch panels. I do custom paint, and body work. I can do just about anything when it comes to care.

Hello, I am working on my '69 Fastback and I am struggling with the frame rails. I found a drawing with a measurement of 59" from the center of the 1" hole toward the back of the floor support to the back edge of the elongated hole in the front bottom of the frame rail. I am using Dynacorn Full apron frame rales that already have the shock towers deleted. I have a Dynacorn full floor pan like you have there, and a new CJ classics firewall and Cowl. I cannot get the frame rail to go far enough into the floor supports to get that 59" measurement. How do you get that to go in so easy? What am I doing wrong? Is there a better measurement for installing these? Currently I only have the firewall and lower cowl clamped in place and not welded along the floor. I love your video's and have learned a ton from watching. Thanks in advance!

I measured and also got the 59”. If the frame rail is hitting the firewall, something may be off.

Great tutorial! It's been indispensable for replacing my drum brakes. The only real problem I faced (besides some unrelated hiccups like a wheel stud breaking off) is how hard two of the damn springs are to reinstall. They seem to require a hell of a lot of strength. I have a feeling it's due to my buying a 4" vise grip, which some ppl refer to as a mini vise grip, instead of a 6" one, which seems to be the standard size. The 4" one is just too small for my hands to get enough leverage on. I have a 6.5" one arriving tomorrow and hopefully I can it to finish up replacing one of the brakes. Almost done though and the second one should take much less time! Edit: The problem was that I mixed up the two smallest springs (adjusting lever and anchor springs). The anchor spring at the bottom that connects the front and rear shoe together is very strong compared to the one that's attached to the adjusting lever lmao. Once I swapped them, it was easy. My first drum brake replaced! Also, a 6" or 6.5" vise grip makes this job a lot easier compared to a 4".

@@JoDaddysGarage Very nice. I already removed it using a tie rod end remover tool I rented instead of using a hammer. This tool is so useful as a clamp I might just buy one outright lol. @JoDaddysGarage just out of curiosity, and feel free to decline to comment, but did the owner get the car back or do you still have it? Thanks Jo Daddy. This was very helpful . I’m currently putting quarter glass in a 66 mustang and I have everything attached but when I get the glass almost up to the top, the roller runs off the back side of the glass track. It does the same thing on both sides. What am I missing? Could the regulators be bent, or could I possibly have the lower vertical glass run on the wrong side? Any information would be helpful. Thanks

@@JoDaddysGarage I think that I figured out my problem.Although I am not near the nightmare car, I am thinking that the top 2 holes in the glass backing plate has about an inch of forward and backward movement, so if I move that towards the rear that would solve the problem of the regulator roller dropping out of the glass.
