Front sheet metal and more on a 1969 Mach1. Test fit and welding. Slither part 34

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Hey Gang, I'm making more progress on the Mach 1 Cobra Jet. I welded in the front aprons, core support, and strut rod braces. Lots of measuring and test fitting. Good things are coming.

The early mustangs were a lot like the model A’s they were not meant to last this long. You know what you are looking for all along and make it all look easy. Thanks for taking us along. Tom

Your amazing! You got all of that done in 55 minuets. I need to come to your magic garage.😆 It's been fun watching the journey from the beginning to having the shell complete. Well done my friend.

Those fender aprons on all mustangs of that era are an optical illusion. What you thing is really crooked is correct. It's hard to force yourself to ignore that they are way different side to side then the sides both look goofy. So I guess I want a little spotwelder now. Oh and my 66 has bugger welds on the strut rod mounts too along with a bunch of spot welds.

Barry, it's been a wild ride, from "crunchy" to gorgeous 🥰 with this shell.. We know it's probably the most "emotional" project for you overall, due the owners sudden passing, during the build. I believe you were the perfect "spirit guide" to bring this to the finish line... On the strut rod brackets, I had to remove the pass side one, to replace some flat steel under that bracket. There were 8 or 9 spot welds in the front, along with the ugliest booger welds on the front lip. I had two on the sway bar bracket overlap, only three spots holding the bracket to the underside of the frame rail !!!! From the factory 🏭!!!! I added a third spot for the sway bar bracket contact point, and my mig lines, were suspiciously similar in appearance to the factory as well on the front !!! Keep at it brother...We enjoyed the voyage...

It appeared to me like those spot welds didn’t penetrate enough. Please test with larger scrap pieces and break apart.

spot welder... YES.... I am watching to see if weld through will work or not as there must be a complete circuit. Did it come with a shoulder strap , OR go get a guitar strap to hold the weight off your arms. It does do a great job very clean . It still amazes me how the original assembly line took a bunch of pieces and welded them on the fly in seconds, no wonder these cars were so inconsistent from one to the next. great episode, she is looking good

Just purchased a 65' mustang coupe. 200 I6 with a 3 speed manual from a scrap yard. Whole front end needs rebuilt including sub frame and needs floor pans. I'll be watching you 66' videos but any advice would be welcome and appreciated.

Not sure if it is the angle but it looks like you did not get the plug welds done on the passenger front diagonal brace. 52:45 . They look empty.

I don't like the idea of using a tape. Also I always paint the underside of panels before welding in place. I guess 3M makes a wax coating. This is a crazy amount of work. Cars suck lol
