    ## Summary The video is an interview with the renowned filmmaker Werner Herzog, discussing his unique approach to filmmaking, his views on leadership and risk-taking, and the importance of reading and being well-versed in literature. Herzog speaks about his unconventional methods, such as breaking rules and laws to get the shots he wants, and his belief in leading by example and facing danger head-on. He also emphasizes the critical role that reading and expanding one's knowledge plays in becoming a truly great filmmaker and artist. ## Key Points ### Werner Herzog's Filmmaking Approach - [0:24] Herzog's life is more interesting than the fictional stories he creates in his films - [2:42] There is a common worldview and architectural concept that ties together the diverse range of subjects in his films - [4:51] Herzog is very concerned for the safety and well-being of the people he brings on to his "crazy projects" - [10:10] When the lead actor in Fitzcarraldo became ill, Herzog was prepared to play the part himself rather than abandon the project - [14:37] Herzog believes in leading by example and being the first to take on risks and challenges on set ### Embracing the Unknown and Unexpected - [33:25] Herzog incorporates the "totally unknown and the totally unexpected" into his filmmaking approach - [41:00] He believes that creating something rooted in reality, like moving a real ship over a mountain, cannot be replicated by digital effects - [44:42] Herzog is fascinated by solving seemingly impossible puzzles, like how Neolithic people were able to move massive stones ### The Importance of Reading and Knowledge - [51:02] Herzog emphasizes the critical importance of reading extensively for aspiring filmmakers and artists - [52:07] He believes that traveling on foot provides unique insights and perspectives on the world - [53:18] Herzog cites specific books and authors he considers mandatory reading, such as The Peregrine by J.A. Baker ### Challenging Conventions and Embracing Nonconformity - [15:59] Herzog is unafraid to stand up to large crowds or critics who disagree with his approach - [23:12] He teaches his students to be willing to break laws and rules, as long as it does not harm anyone, in order to get the shots they need - [26:53] Herzog sees himself as being "out of time" with the current cultural emphasis on truth and authenticity, and he embraces his nonconformist approach

So glad you are working on physics. No one seems to be chasing truth anymore. The wrinkles In space time has been ignored long enough.

there's a monkey on my shoulder with a monkey on its shoulder and I don't know what I'm going to do and that monkey on the shoulder of the monkey on my shoulder has a monkey on its shoulder too...and for some reason your monkeys are fighting with my monkeys far beyond the respected limits of my free will. And I know you feel the same, since we're all units, forget your name, in a geosociopolitical checker game. Don't let those monkeys bring you down Brandish your placards, come around, to the gathering of malcontented clowns. There's a clown in a three piece suit, wearing sandals and playing a flute, Who's endorsing some peculiar advice. The mystery, unknown principles keeping thebworld SAFE deconstruct down to a pair - self-preservation and Intrinsic value. In the first instance, few are those who are so enamored in their holding power that they understand killing themselves in the course of changing Human History as the price to fame, martyrdom and progress toward a “just” goal. Second, real win-win game outcomes don’t exist in the current game A due to the fact that intrinsic value remains. In the case of 9-11, the goal of attacking the World Center of Commerce was not to destroy commerce but to gain control of the narrative value in commercial interest. Let’s say that Iraq or even Saudi people were actors for sake of argument. The act of attacking the global center of commerce is justified if the oil extraction ravaging their people’s lives can stop the wealth-generation at their society expense there is a potential for their commons to benefit. IF 9-11 were a larger game, say an over-taking maneuver of the U.S.A. then destroying its economic engine, WTC, could have been a first strike target. The overarching goal would be the USA takeover, control of its natural resources and access to it natural security i.e. ocean borders. Intrinsic value remains _the_ bottomline determinant in target selection, destructive use of force and strategic opening move in GameA world architecture.

So did you find the idea of the "Berufslehre" in these four years since the podcast or no? you dont have to invent new stuff, just take shit that works and find out if it works for you too i dont know why we need to go so deep to invent new solutions for problems that at least partially have been solved

I just watched your interview with Duncan Trussell and it has melted my brain. I can somewhat feel the urgency in of what you said. It keeps me up at night, but I am not knowledgeable enough to understand the danger like you do. I am intrigued by it though. There is something about it that I feel I could become obsessed with. If I had resources, or knowledge of what I could do I’d be doing something. But I don’t have the same view of the problem as you, so I probably can’t see where I could help or do something without a more defined picture and understanding.
