The 25-06 is a timeless performer. It's nice to see someone working with the 100 grain pills. One of the few calibers that can go from varmints to Elk. Last note is you have the habit of immediately putting your trigger finger in the trigger guard after you chamber the round and before you have your head down on the rifle and on target. Not a great practice. Feel free to delete the comment after you read it. It is meant to be constructive criticism.

I think you meant to say out to 250 yards. Until you get up to the 135-150 you dip below the 1000 lbs margin at around 200. I’ve used both these bullets on game under 150 yards they were both very effective on deer or hog. Both these bullets go under an inch at 100 in my gun.

@@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009 That seems like a high BC, but if that's correct yes it would go out to 300 yards! That is what Speer lists for the bullet! One of the best game bullets for the Hamr is the Speer # 308150BLKGDB. It will reach the 300 yard mark with lethality but you do give up some accuracy, no better than over an inch @ 100. But it's currently listed as unavailable. The Lehigh bullets that Wilson offers are supposed to be outstanding but I have no experience with them. I have done a lot of experience with many others. I love to compare notes with you!

Any chance you pulled a bullet from the new batch and weighed the powder to see if it was different? A bit concerning that they would have such a wide spread from one lot to the other, unless they are switching powders between batches.

  • @davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009

No I did not, because the velocity was close to the box numbers. Hornady recently had the same "change of powder and lower velocity" with their 7mm PRC. They owned up to this fact and blamed the shortage of powder that was used to develop the 7mm PRC and had to use another currently available powder. Several KZreadrs featured the lower velocity results.

Thanks for the video Mr. Strohmeyer, and no, you are not getting stale, you put our real world data that is useful to the community. It appears either bullet is capable of good accuracy and they both seemed to like the higher end of their velocity rating. The 125 Pro Hunter has a bit higher BC at .277 to the 130 Hot Core at .248 so they are fairly comparable until you get out around 125 - 150 yards then the 125 Pro Hunter takes a little elevation and energy edge. I have only used the 130 Hot Core on hogs and it has worked well, but I do have some 125 Pro Hunter ammo to test on hogs, can't imagine there could be much if any difference on hogs but we shall see. I am looking forward to the chrono numbers. I have most of my reloading supplies I just haven't bought bullets, I was waiting to see what kind of numbers and accuracy you would get from the two bullets. And if anybody is interested Wilson Combat has the 125 Pro hunter loaded ammo and bullets on sale at a pretty good discount. Maybe if you feel like it you could test the 135 Ham'r Bonded bullet, it shows to run at 2,400 Fps but has a BC of .372 so it very quickly makes up for the tad bit slower speed. Again, thanks for the video.

I think, since I already have it, I will stick to my 7.62x39 upper in AR. The ability to use VERY inexpensive range ammo for trigger time and the similar energy from similar weight projectiles for hunting should work on hogs or deer in my woody area. My groups were a bit bigger, but using a digital scope for daytime and night hog hunting. I hope your magnetospeed gets debugged pdq. I am saving for a Xero, as the indoor range wont allow the setup of my Chrony(nothing in front of bench, they also disallow steel cased and bimetal jacketed ammo, so the cheapest is saved for outdoors - reasonbly priced brass ammo abounds still for 7.62x39 tho.) and it is a bit too steamy to setup outdoors at the moment.😓

Oh well! Damn good shooting. A half inch with 5 shots is excellent! I added an Oryx chassis to my Tika T3X 223 a few weeks back. I had trouble with the magazine at first. I had to push it forward in order for the rounds to feed and not get stuck on the feed ramp. I called MDT and the solution was a LONGER magazine latch, which took another 3+ weeks to receive, and was a bitch to install. I took it out today after making the mods, the magazines are sticky, but I have no feeding issues. My only complaint about the Oryx chassis is how long it takes to get service. Otherwise the product is fantastic. I plan to make a video comparing it with my Ruger American that got me started.

Great information.. I wonder how those bullets would do in a 30-06 or a 300 win mag.??

Both have 1-10 barrel twist rates they should do well on Varmints.

Dave. Good video. Really great groups. You've got a great combination going there with that gun, powders and bullets. Thanks for sharing and take care.
