Thanks Brian. Brian Walker To: ddstrohmeyer@frontier.com Sat, Nov 25 at 12:13 PM Howdy, Brian Walker here. I watch your channel all the time and appreciate your content Sir. I bought 2 uppers from BCA in .308 Win with the stainless medium 24” barrels. Both are side chargers which it looks like yours is a top charger I was having trouble with the rifles extracting and ejecting the spend rounds. I traced this down to the buffer tube being too short and the buffer being too long. When I pulled the bolt carrier group to the rear to charge the rifle I was not getting a full stroke on the bolt as the bolt carrier was causing the buffer to “bottom” in the short buffer tube. I replaced both buffer tubes with A2 style buffers and standard Ar10 buffer springs then bought a Odin Gunwork’s tunable buffer and began increasing weight by adding different weights until I got the rifles to extract and eject at 4 o’clock. No more troubles. It took awhile to do that as I would add a couple of ounces then shoot a few rounds until I got them both tuned. I am not sure if this will help you Sir because my Bolt Carriers are side chargers and probably longer than your top charger but I thought I would mention it to you as just something to check It’s always good to have some folks give you references as to what they have done to repair or tune a rifle. I have certainly learned allot watching your channel. I am semi-retired too so I have time to experiment with different calibers and I also reload. I do alittle bit of coyote, coydog, hunting here in Ky. and also I do allot of rock chunk hunting similar to what you do in the spring here. Mostly though I just shoot steel but I am not as good a shot as you are Sir. I have trouble hitting 600 yards consistently so I have a long way to go. I do practice as much as I can though and I am getting alittle better as time and reloading is improving somewhat. Thank you again for your content and I certainly appreciate your channel. I have been subscribed awhile and I really enjoy your work. Keep up the good work Sir. Brian Walker

Ive been really interested in BCA .243 upper(s) however I wanted to see what luck others had with it before I placed an order. It being a .243 in MSR platform I was a little skeptical however I’m really impressed with your results. Looking forward to the next video, thank you for the content.

All that is important is that the regical is level. The rifle is inconclusive. People Forget that the barrel is round. So if you are holding the horizontal cross hairs is level, you will make your adjustments with your rifle according to the Scopes rectacle.

Yes the 243 is underrated. But the 6.5 CM with 100-120 grain bullet class rivals the speed of the .243 with higher Sectional Density for larger game. I hear of folks having had issues with the 22-250 in a AR platform, unfortunately.

I've been having good luck pairing PSA uppers (blems with great features like the Enhanced Performance Trigger /EPT) with BCA uppers. I agree with getting the scope High on an AR. The Objective end of a scope on a standard rifle will contour over the curvature of the chamber and not toucj the barrel. But there is curvature on a Picatiny rail and the Objective end will often hit the pic rail. I kept messing my zero up just by seeting or removing the lens cover. Getting a riser corrected that problem. Good video, Dave. Surprised you got a 243 since your wife gave you the other one you worked up last year. Impressed with how accurate thisbis, though.

I got this 243 in semi auto with a 1/8 twist barrel, to handle the newer heavier bullets, 100 -115grs. My bolt actions are 1/10 twist and are best suited to lighter weight bullets.

I've got my bca .308 upper on a psa blem lower with the enhanced trigger and magpul stock for dirt cheap, bought 2 of them, one had a small scratch on the side, the other? Maybe the color inside the maxwell is a little off?? Can't see anything wrong with it. My 18" side charger bca upper in .308 is quite accurate as well. It's only gotten better as I've shot it more as well. They are a great value, but their customer service lately is a little lacking compared to what it used to be.

I have two 243 BCA uppers. One in 22” stainless fluted heavy barrel and the other in a 20” socom black barreled upper. Bough them several years ago. Installed them on Aero M5 lowers with CMC 2.5 pound single stage triggers. I only tried 55 and 60 grain light bullets driven fast for coyote hunting. The 22” will shoot 55 grain Nosler ballistic tips clocked at 4150 fps and the 20” lighter upper like the 60 grain hollow point Seirras cruising around 4050 fps. Both with shoot .3” with the loads at 10” yards. Not one hole groups but the groups look like cloverleaves, I’m sure they both will shoot tighter with heavier bullets.

  • @tripplebeards3427

  • @tripplebeards3427

Can also add that the 22” heavy barrel was a shooter. The first 20” version was not. It was closer to 2 MOA then 1 MOA. At that time they had a MOA guarantee so sent it back. Took a half year to get another one that they had sitting on the shelf the whole time. I tested 13 hand loads that shot the tightest in my first upper. They all shot .3” to .7” 100 yard groups!!..accept for one load that shot just over MOA.

Failure to pick up the second round and lock back on the last shot. BCA suggested to drill a larger gas port hole. I sent the upper back to BCA for them to do this and test for function before sending the upper back to me. Because more than just being undergassed can cause the malfunctions. We shall see in about 2 weeks or so.

So it just needs a trigger? I just picked up a 6.5CM upper from BCA this week that I'm hankering to try out. I'll look into that scope. I currently use a 10~40x54(?) that I picked up on a gov't contract overrun from BoTac a few years back for precision work. Don't even recall the brand. Works splendidly from 223 to 308 which pretty much covers the spectrum for my rifle use. Nice presentation.
