Ive owned two BAR Safaris. They both HATED heavy-for-caliber bullets. Both printed one MOA groups with lighter bullets consistently.

That has been close to my experience also. Thanks for watching.
When I was a youngster, I always dreamt of getting a BAR in .338WM. I had visions of living/hunting in bear and elk country and it would be great medicine for stopping a bruin's charge. Alas, my vision changed and such a rifle would be superfluous in the hot lowlands I inhabit. I am certain your rifle will not become envious of the others getting more use than it. Great shooting, as always.

That does sound like a deadly combo indeed.
I also weep at the reluctance of Browning to continue with the finest semi auto rifle available. I have owned several over the years and miss each and every one. Because of the cancellation I will pick up a caliber or two to keep in the family. Youngsters need what you and I will leave behind. Cleaned and stored for future use.I enjoy your videos and would have liked to know you in years past.

Hello, Mike.
I just saw one of these in the store on Friday in 25-06. Insanely coincidental 👍 I'm hypothesizing the AR10 platform just made this rifle not profitable any longer. But if I could find a BAR in 7mm Mag, I'm scooping it up. Thanks Dave. Have a great week

I don't know why? I speculate that once Browning and Winchester merged things changed. But I do hope that FN will continue the line.

Thanks, but I am sure sorry to see the list for discontinued BAR's on Browning's Website.
I'm due to get my PAL (Canadian FAC) in a month or so, and I had my eye on this rifle (in 30-06). Chances of a large calibre semi auto becoming legal up here except for the Benelli R1 in 300 WM, are rare. Hopefully 3D printing improves so parts can be created by owners in the future. I know these aren't plastic, that's why I'm saying I hope 3D printing improves... The BAR is a huge part of American history, with continued practical use. Novice hunters who fire wide on their first shot can take follow-ups without letting the deer hoof it 5 miles before the bolt is ready again.

That’s a crying shame about the BAR. Not surprised though…there aren’t many folks interested in a semi-auto rifles (conventional stock configuration). It seems the “black rifles” have made the BAR obsolete.

In my limited 25-06 experience, the 2 rifles I have in it shoot much differently. My single shot HnR with 26in barrel shoots 100gr corelocks at 1/2 moa and shoots everything else horribly. My vanguard with 24in barrel doesn't seem to care much and shoots everything around 3/4in or just under. Just thought that was interesting, have a good day.

This BAR shoots better than I do. The example is the last 3 went from 2"MOA to 3/4" with the same previous loads.
From their websites, there are models BARs and BLRs that are still available, and some models that are not. Is that correct? The information doesn't seem to discontinue on models of BAR and BLR.

I have a question for you. My friend has a few browning bar’s and I’m considering buying one. I have always liked them. The one I’m considering buying was made in 1969 and is a 30-06. I have never hand loaded for a semi auto and should add im fairly new to reloading as well. . I’m wondering how to safely test loads for this because I have heard they are a little more sensitive to pressure than a bolt gun. Thank you for your videos!
@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009
Ай бұрын
Quite the contrary, the BAR's have a 7 lug rotating bolt that is very strong. The only reloading issue is the case prep and length trim, then your chamber loaded cartridge length limits. The cases must be full length sized and then checked with a case gauge to insure proper feeding. Because of the gas piston operation you Do Not want to "light load' the cartridge, The BAR needs sufficient pressure to fully retract the bolt for proper ejection and loading the next round. Start in the middle of the recommended load data from the bullet maker and work up for both function and accuracy. The 30-06 round is not a finicky cartridge to load as it accepts the most types of powders listed in the manuals and has a 60-K pressure limit. Good luck to you.

Very sad, Dave. That is a beautiful rifle. Do you notice a reduction in recoil with the gas system? I have been looking at these a while. Would not mind one in 30-06.
@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009

Yes, a slight reduction in recoil, but also a little slower in velocity, but they work well with proper maintenance.

This is quite likely because Browning released their BAR Mk IV ["4X"] model last year to the European market. The same thing occurred when the Mk III gen. was released superseding the MkII. kzread.info/dash/bejne/X3x9lbySiNjIqM4.htmlsi=JUEiHr0NtVoz3L3M
