    I appreciate the fact you went over more than just one rifle. Most reviewers just have one sample size and that doesn’t give you good data on the quality or lack of. I would only use these for plinking or limited types of home defense. I’m going awol if they put me in the trenches of war with one of these. Also to counter your one of your points, if my rifle breaks when I need it, I don’t care that I can send it in to get it fixed by the manufacture if I’m dead in a ditch. Good job keep it up!

    It's a tool, a craftsman, not a snap on, but they do work, consistently, just as well as my Armalites and DPMS, and Springfield Armory M1A's. If something breaks, you must be able to fix it yourself and get back in the fight, just my experience 😊

    I have a short BCA upper that I only use as a plinker and training platform for my sister's kids. I hand picked components and assembled my home defense gun, which I have no problem entrusting my life to. Anyways, the BCA upper is on an Anderson lower that I completed. It's never had a single failure on any components, and runs my CMMG .22LR conversion reliably as well. When budget was my main consideration, BCA was able to fulfill my needs, and I won't trash talk them, or anyone that can only afford them. For the naysayers, as a reminder, Aero had a run of bad QC several years ago. No company is immune.

    I have AR stuff from all over the spectrum in terms of quality and price. I appreciate that they give us vets barrels and stuff like that around the holidays sometimes and purchased an upper from them because of that. Its fine for range stuff and better than nothing. I was underwhelmed with the upper for sure. The coatings seemed kind of poorly applied and the fitment was meh. That being said, I wouldn't recommend them to a friend and would most likely direct them to PSA for budget friendly AR components. I won't bash them either because I respect any company going out of their way to make affordable firearms for the masses. I agree with the saying that the best AR is the one you can afford.

    My first ar from bca was a total show. Chambered in 6.5 Grendel. Everything was loose including the barrel nut. Extractor broke within a couple mags. Side charger bolt bent from trying to get the stuck shell out. I put it on a psa lower. And it shot horrible groups. Since I swapped barrels to x39. I put together a 556 blem kit from psa and was flawless. I really like the side charger so I just ordered a x39 pistol upper. I checked and loctited the entire upper and was surprisingly pleased with it. 20rd Duramags are definitely the best for the caliber. Asc worked the best with the Grendel

    As a left handed shooter that right handed side - charger is PERFECT for me. I am right handed left eye dominant and not counting .22 lr LEARNED to shoot rifles in the Army with m-16 A3 LEARNING very early with that rifle to use a bent stripper clip in the ejector port cover as an improvised brass deflector to keep VERY HOT BRASS out of my right elbow pit. I love the AR with that side charging handle. A pistol I can shoot with either hand still aiming with my left eye but a rifle (including pistol length rifle) is going to be fired left handed. That charging handle deflects the rounds forward YEAH!!!

    Good comments made on various problems found with these uppers. I own various BC uppers in different sizes, calibers, side and conventional as well. My experience has been with poor quality control. I strongly recommend before using any of them is to polish the chambers as I found all of them to be rough, therefore, creating feeding problems. I also recommend to buy enhanced firing pins for any BC bcgs as I had 100% failure with the BC enhanced firing pins. Buy enhanced firing pins other than BC and you will be alright, The 7.62x39s problems have been the most problematic with high capacity mags. I am currently sung the 10 mags with good success. Also, a very important piece to replace is the bolt ejector. The bolt ejector will not hold long because is too thin. I purchased the phosphate bcg ejectors from Right to Bear Arms and none of them have broke. After doing these upgrades, all uppers are working smoothly. Hope these points help others in getting their BC pieces in good working order.

    Other than one broken extractor the 7.62-39 is accurate and runs good on an 80percent lower milled out at home with a mil spec lower parts kit (they come with an enhanced fireing pin) building the 308 was a learning experience you have to get a longer buffer tube because of the long bolt carrier needs more room to travel far enough back, now functions good except for the bolt catch was the wrong one in the parts kit, they just need a good going over before shooting to make sure everything is tight and staked properly and they are a little bit on the heavy side ASC magazines work best for the 7.62-39 in the 20 round size, the 308 will feed with any brand magazine

    I own 2 of their uppers. A 7.62x39, and the 12.7x42. Both have been great, but both are mag specific calibers. Duranag makes a stainless steel 7.62x39 mag that is especially for those wedge shaped cartridges. Only the very bottom portion of the mag is curved. Never had a feed issue using them. On the Beowulf my main suggestion is get a good muzzle brake from the start. The little spiral cut flash suppressor that comes on it will leave your shoulder purple for a week. Also it needs a 12.7 or at least 450bm magazine. I tried modifying several different multi caliber mags myself and always had feed problems. And even with a 450bm mags you need to dremmel out a deeper crescent in the front edge of the mag so those big .50Beowulf casings don't catch on the edge during the feed cycle.

    I think BCA uppers are pretty good. Most of the issues that I have heard from people usually involve the the bolt or BCG in general. If you have some good quality BCGs around, Id say go for it. Throw a Sons of Liberty, Spikes, Aero, any decent BCG in there and I think its a win. The BCG is the heart of the gun. I got a .300 blackout upper, threw in a Sons BCG, and it works great. The barrel isnt going to last as long as a DD or Bravo Company, but hey, you can always swap the barrel

Also the customer service at bca these days is absolutely atrocious, they used to be great, now they ignore your emails and your messages, they have ignored me for the last 6 months regarding an ar10 upper I'm having warranty problems with. So bottom line, yeah for the money it's a good base line, but their support is terrible and your odds of getting a bad upper/rifle is worse now than it was in the past.

    I have ordered more than two or three items from BCA, in the past, and have defended their products online. Just called to check on the status of an order for a single barrel due to the delay in shipping. The sales rep said up to 14 days to even ship a single barrel FedEx. When I asked if it would be cheaper to just cancel my order and go to a store and get a barrel, he agreed. $78.00 barrel, $25.00 shipping. and up to 14 days to even ship. I have defended BCA more than once, but now??? I complained, and they now have canceled the order, The barres is no longer in stock amazing. BCA responded that the barrel had gone out of stock after my order,. Imagine that, Isn't it amazing how it went out of stock immediately after i complained, yet not 30 minutes before complained and not an hour after it was still showing available. Imagine that. Oh, and they have refunded my payment, might receive it within the next week. Now that is great customer service if I ever saw it.

    man that really sucks to hear, i have also bought a few uppers from them with no issues but lately i've noticed that the biggest complaints about them is their customer service. my rule of thumb with bca is to avoid any of the oddball offerings they put out like the uncommon caliber uppers and side chargers. they still have a lot kinks to work out on their designs but i'm sure they'll get it mostly right eventually. their rear charging uppers seem pretty solid though, I have three myself and have only had an extractor pin break ($5 fix) on my first one years ago but besides that they work great. I dont ever tell anyone they're the best upper you can buy but for people on a tight budget that just want a chance to be able to dip their toes bca is not too bad.

  • @TheDoncsumm
    @TheDoncsumm20 күн бұрын

    I have used thier rear charging uppers for years and have shot thousands of rounds without any problems. I bought my first side charging upper (6.5 Grendel) and it failed within 60 rounds. I am not going to invest my time into finding the failure point. I will stick to thier rear charging uppers only for now.

    @@inthewoods3237 thats unfortunately the case, although there are a few upper and lower combos that still pair well enough but its always going to be a toss up. I think even PSA states that their lowers may have fitment issues with anything other than their brand uppers which may be purposefully by design but I have seen some people have luck with different pairings online.

    I'm glad there are cheap options for those without a huge budget to spend, but only buy BCA if you really have no other choice. BCA's QC is more about "fuck it, ship it out, we'll let customers find the issues" vs "we make sure we get it right the first time." You may get a good one, but the chances of you running into issues is way higher than pretty much any other rifle company.

    So yes, as long as these bca uppers are in spec and barrel nut, gas block and all hardware torqued properly, these should all work. But it's the inconsistent qc and tolerances that will cause the gun to fail before a better quality rifle. I definitely think it makes a great range toy, but wouldn't ever suggest using it for self defense

    For a first AR it would be much better to just save up a short bit longer and build a quality AR as opposed to scraping the literal bottom of the barrel and hoping for the best. You can even do your own lay away program. First you catch a PSA complete lower on daily deal for $119, then you grab a Microbest BCG next paycheck, basic Aero upper $370, throw a HS403 on top when you can and a case of ammo now you have a great first rifle (with an optic) for around $800. In the end you will be much better served being diligent with your purchase decisions and having a rifle you can be proud of not just running off to the cheapest easy route you could find. AND BEFORE YOU START YES I KNOW YOUR 7.5" 5.56 BCA SHOOTS 1/4MOA AT 25 YARDS AND HAS NEVER GIVEN YOU ANY PROBLEMS IN THE ONE HUNDRED AND NINETEEN ROUNDS YOU HAVE PUT THROUGH IT.
