The 2nd & 3rd groups with the bolt gun were nuts. Especially in that wind. Wow. Edited During the video: That Aero is a shooting son of a gun...incredible, Dave.

Loved this bullet in my 6.5/55 I used it on many deer back in the day pre '95. Traded that in when I built my 6.5/06. I started using it again in the Grendel. Its a tough bullet! I love the 120 Gold Dot too. But know its purpose built for the grendel and WILL FAIL past 2650 ish impact velocity. Thats straight out if Speer tech!! I spoke with them.

Oh, that is why Speer has no load data for the 120gn, Gold Dot, for a 6.5 Creedmoor. Thanks Brian.

Amazing accuracy. Gotta say, the Aero Precision was pretty precise 😊 Wish I could find those 120gn SPH factory loaded like that. Extremely impressive. Thanks Dave. I liked how you demostrated your data collection. If you are going to have a hobby, do it right 🎉 Have a great week 👋🇺🇸

very interesting how a rounds performance can vary from rifle to rifle... I would have predicted that the GDs would have similar groupings in both rifles ... I do like the GDs when I can get them...

The Gold Dot is a great and maybe best projectile for Deer hunting. Yes, some rifles prefer different loads than others. Thanks for watching.

I am really eyeing the Garmin radar type chronograph. I currently use a Magnetospeed I have confidence that it is accurate as far as velocities the attachment system aggravates me somewhat and I know it causes impact shifts and accuracy deviations. I know this because I shoot the same loads the sessions I check velocities without it attached to the barrels once I have my velocity data. A .243 Winchester I have been working with really is affected by it. I was doing accuracy tests while it was attached and had to give that up I have ended up tuning the loads then getting velocity after the fact. I just thought I would throw this in the comments. The Garmin price and the fact it has a built in battery is holding me back on it right now maybe that will change I have some reloading stuff I need to sell. That Aero really shoots well heck both rifles shoot match type bullets might be a real surprise my Creedmoor likes 142 grain Sierra match Kings but they are kind of slow in my 18.5" barrel around 2600 fps. That's right at a max load with H 4350 I went one grain higher and actually lost 50 fps. The only 120 grain I have shot in all three of my 6.5's are Nosler Ballistic Tips. Pretty good accuracy my .260 is probably the least accurate the Creedmoor is good and my old Swede 6.5x55 is OK and has killed a few animals. I don't remember if I have any speeds with the Creedmoor for them I will see when I get out in the shop later. Keep em' coming I watch all of your videos.

I dug around in some of the first targets from my Savage Creedmoor and have some data I will share. Keep in mind it's an 18.5" 1-8 twist barrel and a bolt rifle. 120 Nosler BT 39.0 gr Varget 3 shot avg 2713 fps sd 3.6 w/ Magnetospeed Book Max is 40.0 gr and Min is 36 gr and velocities are 2951 and 2711 respectfully .565" for 3 shots@100 yds 120 BT 43.0 gr H 4350 5 shot avg 2713 sd 11.8 w / Magnetospeed Book Max is 45 gr and Min is 41 gr and velocities are 3022 and 2788 respectfully .750' for 5 shots @ 100 yds 120 Nosler BT ( No Data I just wrote Win 760 on the target ) Nosler Book Load of 42.5 gr W 760 yields 2866 fps that might have been the charge weight .390" for 3 shots @ 100 yds 142 Sierra Match King 40.0 gr H 4350 5 shot avg 2621 sd 10.5 w / Magnetospeed Book Max is 41.9 and Min is 35.3 and velocities are 2300 and 2700 respectfully In my rifle 40.0 gr is 21 fps faster than 40.3 gr according to the Sierra book with the shorter barrel .545" for 5 shots @ 100 yds 142 SMK 41.0 H 4350 ( one grain more than previous load and 99 fps slower ) 5 shot avg 2522 sd 12.7 w / Magnetospeed .297 for 5 shots @ 100 yds I have no explanation for losing the velocity unless it was something with the chronograph same can of powder, brass and primers same seating depth. I have loaded another sample with the same charge to see and will attach the bayonet and see what it does. It was a tight group the best I have shot with this rifle maybe it's worth the extra grain. I have a lot of targets but no data just powder charges with four different brands of brass kind of a pre development exercise. Most of my data has been with Hornady brass I have 500 pieces of new Alpha and some new Winchester and Norma lots of stuff to keep up with. The light bullets from 100 grains and less can get closer to the published velocities than the heavier bullets Varget seems to work better with them also.

@@perdidocamaronero5400 Thanks for sharing your results here. I suspect the slower speed at max charge is due to your shorter barrel length for H-4350.

@@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009 That's all it can be. Loading for three short barrels currently 308, 6.5 Creedmoor and .243 the .243 is the longest at 20". The rest of my hunting rifles are 24" and longer with exception to a couple of semi autos. Usually when I get close to the max velocity the barrel will support increases of a grain won't yield much sometimes less than 20 fps no use adding more at this point. Seems like every barrel is a little different as far as speed some are just faster than others. Before I used a chronograph I never thought much about velocities being a short range hunter I worried more about accuracy and repeatability with enough velocity to expand bullets. Looking forward to your next range day it will be a while before I get back to shooting I have cattle in my property our spring Sudan crop is ready for grazing.

That could be, but I still didn't get last round bolt lock back. That and on the Christensen using the same 120 Gold dot rounds I did have lower velocity than the Sierra Pro Hunters produced.
