Magnum Mayhem! Barrett MRAD vs Ruger Precision Rifle at 1 mile!

Спорт

Curious how a budget friendly rifle like the ruger precision rifle stacks up against a more expensive option like the barrett mrad? In this video we'll perform a side by side comparison of the Barrett MRAD and Ruger precision rifle in 300PRC. The video shows performance at 100 yards, 1465 yards and 1820 yards. Both rifles are equipped with nightforce atacr F1 scopes, the MRAD is running a 7-35 with tremor 3 reticle while the ruger precision is running a 5-25 with MIL-R reticle. To keep things fair, both rifles are shooting the 230gr hornady atip bullet which I have found to be extremely effective in ELR applications. As you can see in the video both rifles are more than capable of effectively engaging targets out to a mile!

I have a first generation RPR in 6.5creedmoor. It got run over by a vehicle and stuff got bent. I was honest and sent it in for inspection and repairs. They replaced multiple parts and not a single dime was spent out of my own pocket, including shipping. It was my only experience in working with Ruger, but they went well above and beyond what was necessary.

Same here with an sr22 pistol that had light hammer strikes and feeding issues with the magazines after i brought it home from academy sports. Ruger paid shipping and replaced almost the whole gun! Since then it has never failed hundreds of rounds later and did not cost a dime and only took maybe week and a half-two weeks! Ruger for the win!!!!

I had a mirror polished (almost flawless) vaquero that I sent in to get the barrel properly clocked. They sent it back after it looked like they took a buffing wheel to it with the coarsest compound they had. Totally ruined a finish that I spent literally dozens of hours achieving. I will never send anything in to them again and will probably not buy from them either, since I am self imposing a ban on warranty work.

Dude I just discovered this channel. Great job brother. This is amazing content. It’s awesome to see people use super high quality rifles and optics but also having the skill to take the rifle out to its potential. I get so sick of seeing guntubers show off all the Gucci gear and make videos swearing how great it is but never showing what it’s capable of. Probably because they should be practicing not buying more expensive crap. Love this. Also the scenery reminds me a lot of home, and I’m home sick after the move to florida in April so that’s a nice touch to see someone shooting outdoors and not at a range. Colorado was amazing for shooting

I have a Leupold mark 5hd 7-35x56 set in an F3R machine mount with and an accutac Sr5 bipod with the arca mount. It shoots great and I love it. I have around 5k in this rifle and I can’t imagine spending more to get the mrad and only getting the gun. The mrad is sweet for sure but Its out of my price range and I don’t have a need for a multi caliber rig. Suggestion for your channel: Setup: Set up two separate targets 90 degrees from each other from your setup location. Whichever way the wind is blowing, shoot at target that is the most downwind and least crosswind. Reduces variables. May require multiple cameras. So what? Also: For speed, get nice, big, 4X8 sheets of plywood to shoot at that you can set up on well-anchored tripod-like anchors. It will help you immediately quantify changes in MOA needed. 1/4" plywood is fine. You'll see the holes with the big scopes. You can even shine an extremely bright LED floodlight at the back of the target to show through the hole when penetrated, and use dark targets. Also, a test on a truly massive high-magnification rifle scope. We ain't talking about CQB here, after all.

Enjoy the video. Got the following wishlist. I’d like to get perspective on your long range target. That would set you apart from similar shooters. You could do this with a shot through a zoom scope showing your base and then zoom in to your target or maybe do a sped up cam shot on your quad as you drive up to the target. Second is I’d love a shot looking through scope occasionally so we can see your reticle on target and 25:10 how you make adjustments on the fly. This might take more gear than is practical but tossing it out there. Keep up the good work.

It’s SO GREAT seeing Ruger holding fast to their roots in offering firearms that just flat out shoot for the money when combined with good ammunition. Gotta say, the video went pretty much how I expected it to and EVERYTHING is on point. Both rifles are awesome for sure. I’m with you in liking the MRAD for the barrel/caliber interchangeability, 10 round mags, RIGHT-folding stock (like what was Ruger thinking…???), and a foam insert pelican case. Great video and thank you for the content

Oh man, Ruger hit a home run with the RPR. My opinion maybe the best value in regards to an out of the box precision rifle. As shown in this video, it’s very capable of performing with much more expensive offerings and the cool thing is there is huge aftermarket support so as you spend more time with the rifle you can “upgrade” where desired. Appreciate you taking the time to watch!

I really can't think of a single experience with a major manufacturer that was negative.

Im in a wheelchair and have been learning to walk again over the last 13 years and have had 4 surgeries since i was injured in Afghanistan. I traded my mrad in to buy stuff for my daughter and ended up buying a RPR with the rest. I bought it in 6.5 creedmoor and later I ended up buying another in 338 lapua. I spent the 2 RPRs for less than the mrad. I kept my glass and put it on the 338. Love the rpr much more than the mrad really. The mrad didnt have issues really but was not more accurate.

This was fun. As per the bi-pods, may I kindly recommend to you, to hunt for a unit that changed everything for me? Please note, the unit is of a lessor quality brand as some claim, but, for the UTG brand of bi-pod and the model OVER-BORE, for the larger rifle systems, it is perfect, it solves all the issues the underside mounted bi-pods have. Also, this UTG OVER-BORE bi-pod unit is absolutely NOT for being mounted on a small rifle like an AR, which includes the AR-10/.308. I suppose you could, but, the OVER-BORE unit is heavy by design. The OVER-BORE has 22 degrees of pan in both directions left to right, and the mounting on top on the hand guard, allows the rifle to naturally hang from the pivot pin or canting degrees depends on the hand guard really. The pivot pin is also a push-button quick detach if you need to dump the legs or for case storage. The price of the UTG OVER-BORE bi-pod range from $120 to $180, pending where you purchase it, that is if you can still locate one, as they are discontinued. There are some new in stock at various on-line stores of the popular E-stores. There is only a few KZread videos covering this bi-pod as per doing a review which I had commented on this unit there with a full novel to go along with the channel owner's point of view for this UTG unit. I have 3 of them in use now on my large rifles, 1 on an RPR and one as a backup now just in case. I sold my CKYE bi-pods, all of them now that I have the UTG units. and for the price I spent on those, I could have purchased 20 of the UTG units. I will attach the like that show cases those bi-pods on larger rilfes.
