    In my case, there were two issues...first was the secondary ground wire, which i did cover in another video, but its the ground that runs from the firewall to the frame and then from the frame, through the wire loom at the starter and then on to the back side of the bellhousing. The other issue, and biggest contributor to the problem was a bad distrubutor cap and rotor of all things. The button in the center of the cap was badly worn and almost powder! We replaced the cap and rotor and that solved the problem! Very stange, but that was it. Since this vehicle was used when we got it, there were a lot of probmes we were chasing down. Thank you for the comment and interest.

    @@duginvirginia5737 i will check my grounds. my truck has not left the yard in 3 years. it dies when you put it into any gear or when activate the tommy lift causing a load. every mechanic I know have no answers. the alternator voltages seem fine, I have replaced every sensor under the hood, cap and rotor, fuel pump and filter and still no change. i also had the head gasket replaced for a small leak off cyl5 .$1600 later it still dies. anyone else out there have an overlooked possibility???

    Thanks for the video, I have a 1923 Fordson myself. You should mention that it’s important to run the proper oil in the rear as there are brass parts in there. Also I believe Mobile 600w steam cylinder oil is ISO 460 which is around SAE 140, technically not 600 weight although it sure takes a long time to fill!

  • @duginvirginia5737
    @duginvirginia57376 ай бұрын

    That is actually an original tank. I had cleaned and lined it. I did paint it to keep it form rusting. I know the color isn't correct, but I wanted to preseve it until I can properly paint the entire tractor. You can purchase reproduction tanks from The Fordson House, however, they are expensive and not 100% accurate for what you pay, IMO.

    Double check the ground wire that goes from the fire wall to frame to back side of the transmission. It's the ground wire contained in the loom of wires that goes to the starter. Another person suggested changing out the EGR valve, I had tested mine and it appeared ot test ok. But, I did replace the ground wire as mentioned.

    From my experience these 350 tbis are in the top 10 worst engines go ever made,you cannot get them to run right,if you do your lucky,no matter what you do you’ll still be throwing money at them,only way to go is vortec 350 or 5.3 or ANYTHING LS

  • @irishuwould5185

    @@lamborgatti-4783 mines been running fine no more dying. I did forget to mention it sat for a few months because I had a bad tire I hadn’t addressed and I think the battery was weak. I’ve had my truck for over two years and it has 213k miles and has never acted up just this one time. I’ve known of other plenty tbi engines that went over 200 and 300k miles with pretty much only maintenance work. I have to disagree. Yes it’s old technology but it works. Very easy to work on and cheap. With tbi its either no spark or no fuel if you have problems.

I kind of through they would have done that laready, but...once we removed all of the small equipment, the large cab we were moving out of the way was from a Model T truck, and the flat bed leaning up against the right side of the shet was the bed to that Model T truck. Also, in the one still shot, you see me infront of a barrel thats on a frame. It was a cut up and repurposed Model T frame turned into a 55 gallon drum barrel holder! A lot of neat things there, pluss the sinking floor!

    Engine was stumbling in the 2700-3500 rpm range. Also, during times of excess idle, truck would occassionally shut off and habitually, once the truck was at operating temperature, it would stall out when you shifted from park to drive or reverse.
