There are a lot of things that could be the problem. Do you know anyone near you who has a model A ? They can check the timing and eliminate that. If the timing isn't right the hand crank can kick back and break your arm, it has to be just a little off to do it. I would try and find a starter to borrow or buy. The rods that operate your spark and your throttle will also help even if you rig up something. It is hard to say from not being there but I wouldn't crank it anymore by hand, it really is dangerous, that is something you do when everything is sorted out and the timing is dead on. It really should start by the sound of it, it could be a wire touching in the distributor or some other little thing. I got a condenser from napa and it was a bad one from china, model A parts places sell good ones. There are model A owners all over the place in VA.

Thank you. I'll check the items as you mentioned and double check that wire in the distributor.

To bad you can get a starter. Seemed like it wanted to start. Probably the timing.

Yes, thank you. I'll put some time in on that and see if I can get it to work.

You were so lucky not to loose everything in the fire . Many things done wrong - no exhaust pipe ,on front engine Mount ,incorrect timing ,fuel line and tank very primitive. Sorry for being negative but being a model A owner and enthusiast I would hate to see it go up in flames . Paul Shinn is the video guy to follow for accurate information .

No worries...you see the pile of rust I had to work with, hence, no need in putting any $ into a lot of unknowns. Now, that we know there is somthing to work with, we can do something with it. 🙂

why aren't you using the starter? You have plenty of fuel. I'd check the timing and the point gap first.

Thank you, the starter is not working, so I'll put some time in on that and see if we can make it work.

@@duginvirginia5737 Getting the starter working should be your #1 priority. Make sure you check the timing and point gap :)
