    1:55 uuhhh, I think your air cleaner cover is on upside-down. The manifold heat stove isn't going to draw in any air through the snorkel connection if the cleaner is all open like that!

  • @AaronsAutomotive

    @AaronsAutomotive

    7 жыл бұрын

    Alexander Riccio yes the air filter hat is upside down, and that was done to allow a little more air flow thru to the carb for a bit better perfoemance, and it acts no differently than the old school 2 piece air filters for these where you just have a top and bottom plate to sandwich the filter in between.

  • @Ariccio123

    Ahh, ok then. Does the 350 have a crankcase breather hose & filter? I assume they don't work with the hat upside-down?

  • @AaronsAutomotive

    7 жыл бұрын

    Alexander Riccio um, well at that moment it was just vented to atmosphere, thru a tube, i have next to zero blow by so didnt want to purchase a filter house for the factory valve covers. this spring it getting new valve covers, intake manifold, air filter housing, headers, and some small performance parts and will be getting propercrank case breather/filter. but during the winters the hat gets flipped back to normal for he heat risers to do their job, and to have warmer air sucked into the intake, it was originally flipped upside down for a 500 mile road trip i was taking it on with a flatdeck and wanted every little bit of power booting i could get.

    you don't have to remove the air cleaner lid. You can spray the starting fluid directly into the nozzle-intake and the vapors will take care of the rest. Remember starting fluid evaporates in no time. (**By the way you're the first person I've seen who put the air cleaner lid on upside down. Sort of defeats the purpose of keeping dirt & dust out of the carb. My dad might have done it once or twice in years gone by but it was out of haste or absentmindedness. Funny!). Thanks for the vid, I enjoyed it.😊

    reason why this video has alot of dislikes is because starter fluid damages your engine for an example it happen to me for watching this video but search it up on google be aware what you do Yet others won't touch starting fluid. ... Diesel engines, too, can suffer the effects of starting fluid. Their high compression can cause the fluid to ignite too early, effectively causing pre-ignition, which invites all kinds of problems, like catastrophic piston or rod damage.

    just fix your fuel problem,it probably has a stuffed fuel pump or it is bleeding back for some reason getting air into the system, or fix your automatic choke,or use a thimble full of petrol, some chokes have winter setting that you have to set it to, also make sure the preheat tube is connected to the exhaust manifold. don't take short cuts that cause bigger problems down the track.

  • @RolandCaston

    Holding the pedal all the way down defeats the action of the choke. Pump a couple of times and take your foot OFF the pedal.

    Holding the gas to the floor defeats the purpose of the choke as you are letting more air into the engine with the gas pedal floored. I’m thinking it would start better with 1/4!throttle on a cold engine after two or three pumps of the gas pedal. 🤷‍♂️

    +Rip Hick hmm, could be a sticking float or dirty jets, Another thing i had realized when diagnosing a fuel issue in my 78 gmc motorhome, had to keep it running off a bottle in the carb, pump and filter were new on it and would spray gas out the line when cranking, turns out one of my fuel lines had a very small crack in it and was allowing the line to suck air in after it started and wouldnt run. And these square bodies are known for the rubber lines at the fuel diverter for the dual tanks to get dry and cracked. May want to give those and all other rubber lines a check

Best thing to do if that happens again is while it ls "on fire" put the throttle to the floor and crank the engine over. 99% of the time that will snuff out the flame. Than try agaim

    Starting fluid dries everything up and can cause engine damage so if it must be used, it should only be after a few attempts of trying to crank it first without bleeding down the battery of course, then spray a short half second burst, just once into the carburetor and try again, repeat if needed. Two 3 second bursts is way too much, too fast. It works much better with a diesel engine. The fluid kept me from being stranded many times so always have a can with you just in case.
