Hi Dug, this is Wick from Mathews co va. I'm on Ford Barn also. Try this on head or stud removing. Heat the stud, then put some lard (crisco works) on the stud. Less of a mess. Works every time. Check your head between cylinder 2 and 3 it's probably cracked. Most of them are. Great video.

Two long studs that hold the water outlet to the head should not have washers. When you put the outlet back on, be very careful not to exert too much pressure on the nuts - torque them carefully as the little "ears" are prone to break off.

Thank you. I am concerned that the right ear is egg shaped for the bolt and that it does not easily fit back on. It seems the bolts may not be parallel to casue this. I suspect the elongated hole was a "custom fit" job to make it fit years ago.

@@duginvirginia5737 You may be able to reuse the water outlet, but be especially careful when you reinstall it. Use either a very thin gasket or use gasket maker and then be cautious when torquing down the nuts to prevent the "ears" from breaking.

In my opinion it's looks as if she'll fire over. Shockingly in good condition considering what she's been through. Who would think she was a workhorse back in the day simply by looking at the engine ? At first blush she almost looks as if she has rather low miles too. No piston ridges either ? I'm surprised the cylinder walls aren't deeply pitted with rust because of the many decades of moisture without any lube. I say get her running and keep her. Yeah, she needs some metal work but look at it as a labor of love. We're not talking doing a concours restoration just get her back up on her wheels again .

It looks really good for sitting so long, it is like the fordson. Take the valve springs off and you may have to just lap the valves in place as they probably won't all come out and you don't want to brake anythings since you are just getting it running. Get the valves clean at least and cause a little compression and it will run.

Hello, and thank you for watching. Initially, our goal is to get the motor running and see how things go. We'd love to see it run on its own power, but as you can see, there is nothing left of the body for a restoration.

Good morning, It will probably be a month until we get back to the Model A. Most likely the next video will be the removal of the oil pan and inspection of the lower half of the motor as well as cleaning / rebuilding the carburator. I had reached out to another KZread channel for asistance with wiring up an ignition circuit, but no luck, so I have thoese details to sort out yet as well. Thank you for your interest and I hope to be back on this sooner than later.

I was surprised. The light rust on the cylinder walls will come off pretty easily. I may try a Scotch-Brite pad and oil, or may just lightily use a cylinder hone.

I wouldn't pull the bottom end apart judging from the top end being in such great shape just check the bearing clearances with plastic gauge. Looks low mileage so you got plenty of shim to remove if you need to get the bearing clearances in spec. Good luck
