Then theres me always eating my rice with chopped raw garlic in soy sauce with some chilis as a 'sauce'.
Chill white guy
There is no such thing as too much garlic.
Very true. People in the comment section claiming to use ‘any’ onion in Mexican food, it just shows that they don’t know what they are doing. Would be funny to see a salsa with yellow onions though 😂 lmao
Never thought I'd see a white person gate keeping ethnic food. JK it is very common
Yeah champ...its a steak and cheese roll. Why all the bullshit ?
Knife and fork. Criminal actions.
Great idea. I like both these AND raw garlic for cooking. It's but DANGEROUS to use raw garlic.
I didn't think of buying deli containers. I jusr reuse the ones I get from takeout.
You have a beautiful home Rick.
Also they are not even!! But maybe someone’s even is more even than others
He comes across as a middle class white man whose cruise stopped in Mexico once!!
So what he is saying is people can’t read? If one shop only sells cinnamon and one shop clearly differentiates it’s the buyers fault for not reading the package. But instead he likes to lead with a misleading comment like shops are trying to trick people. All about the clicks
Ohhhhh I’ve been doing it wrong so you don’t submerge the pan in water and put your protein in then. Everyone understands the premise of sautéing!!
Is that you Jeffrey?
Mexican here… I only ever known white onion and then once I saw purple onion turns out they’re not even called purple onions haha 🤣
How bout no onions
this dude is absolutely wrong
This guy really should fade into obscurity.
Now here's a man who's terrified of flavor.
Raw garlic is great with apple slices and hard cheeses 2-3 cloves yum
Rick no more trip shots before deciding on content. And what is your slant on shallots?
Add salt and speed up the process lol
Your killing me rick!
It’s always been white onions

Red is the best
👍😊🌶️
The Mexican lady told me different.
I would use parchment paper or foil for under the roasting vegetables Chef! 👩🏼🍳 It make cleaning easier 😂 yes on the gourmet tortillas fresh from the best markets in town
I'm just gonna continue to use whatevers cheapest or on sale lol
Thanks Rick for this delightful recipe. I'd eat tongue with anything, capers, cornichons... This is a really good one to fry up in cubes to increase more crispy surfaces. My Mexican husband thinks it's the way to go.✌👍
I legit for the first second of the video thought, "When did Kevin Conroy have a beard?" without first questioning when he ever made cooking content 🦇🙏
The only way to make the perfect torta is to go to a mexican bakery on sunday and get the perfect fresh baked torta bread to start with. Im white and I found this out from my Latino brothers.
Love how the white man is telling us how to cook Mexican food no mammes guey
Making way too big a deal about it, use what you like and at the end of the day onion is onion.
This is the most Skip I’ve ever seen in Rick 😂
Thank you for sharing, and for everything you've done
Looks like another keeper chef. Thank you.
How do I eat the rest of my taco without biting my fingers ?
No gatekeeping! Use whatever onion you want
Bro, you’re dangerous! Garlic is very beneficial.
The smell of fresh baked bolillos is what I imagine heaven smells like
Nah. Saigon cinnamon is the best smelling, strongest taste by far.
F ya! The refried beans and pickled jalapeños are so good with the steak 🤤
I use to love watching your show on PBS when I was little, my parents immigrated from Mexico and when I was younger there was a lot more racism towards Mexicans where I live so it was so cool for me as a kid to see this American man on TV be so passionate and in love with Mexico and its cuisine! Thank you😊
Everything you cook is explained well and looks delicious. Thank you for sharing your expertise with us.😊
If you drive through oxnard/El rio..you can smell the fields of cinnamon...805 baby
Try grilling them for some extra flavor!
