The Darkest Dark Chocolate Tres Leches Cake
I've always dreamed of a tres leches cake that incorporated the rich flavors of dark chocolate, but I could never find a recipe that could deliver on those deeper chocolate flavors! Every chocolate tres leches I would try just ended up tasting like a stale cup of Abuelita hot chocolate. Well, after over a dozen cakes baked in testing, I am so excited to share with you this very special, very dark chocolate tres leches cake. I hope you enjoy!

Hi Rick! I'm from Mexico and my boyfriend and I are fan of your recipes and channel!! In Mexico we call that cake "Pastel chorreado" is super yummy and one of my favorites!!! It would be amazing if one day you make " caldo tlalpeño" is basically a chicken soup but with chick peas, chile chipotle, avocados, queso panela and other ingredients!! It's super delicious and easy to make!! Thanks for loving our Mexican food and culture ❤❤

Love watching Rick and the enthusiasm he shows for anything he’s preparing! It’s definitely contagious! This single layer dark chocolate Trés Leches dessert looks absolutely awesome. Can’t wait to make this with my 18 yr old grandson ! Thank you!
We used to buy a big chocolate (not dark) tres leches cake from Soriana for like $200 pesos, and just eat it for dinner. Not a good idea, but it was fun!
My mom was a professional chef, but cooking was her passion. Baking was not her passion at all and us kids wanted something sweet and thank goodness she had a box of Bisquick with a recipe on the side of the box. Coconut cake was so good we ate it all together in joy. 🤩 ❤ the house always smells amazing when she cooked. ❤
Great stuff. I'd have dusted the parchment paper with cocoa so it didn't stick when you removed the cake from the pan but hey I am no pro. Yum. Post-Lent I'll be onto this recipe and thanks Rick!🎉
Buenas tardes Rick! Thank you so much for this wonderful recipe. I made it as a gift to my husband for Valentine’s Day and it was a huge hit. We both couldn’t stop at one slice. The cake was so airy and light but also decadent. I could not find extra dark cocoa so I used regular and it turned out perfectly. Saving this recipe in the vault. 😊
looks absolutely fabulous!
I really apperciate it Rick, such a beautifull gift of you
Wow! Tres Leches cake never thrilled me as I find it too sweet for my liking but as a chocolaholic this recipe is a keeper for me. Cannot wait to try this! Thanks for sharing!
I will definitely be making this cake. Thanks for the recipe.
That was amazing.
Thanks! I’ve got to try this!!!❤❤❤❤❤
I ordered my extra dark chocolate powder and will make this very soon. A few years ago, I started a second career in food Service and will present your tres leches cake at my new job; next week. Thanks Chef!
Great job, Rick! Gonna give this a go! 🎉
Just in time for valentine's day! Thanks for the excellent recipe.
Gotta love the enthusiasm 😄
Ohhhh my, that was ❤.
One thing I really appreciate here is not having la di da music throughout the entire video.
This man is a culinary genius!:)
OMG it looks delicious! Your methods and explanations make me think I could even make this cake! 😂🎉
Thank you so much for a recipe link that works directly to the recipe on your website so we don’t have to type it in or scroll to find it❤❤❤❤
❤Love it😋😋
I love regular Tres Leche cake, but your chocolate version looks amazing!
Yum!
Just in time for Valentine’s Day!
OOOH WOW CHOCOLATE CAN'T GO WRONG THERE!😊
I made this for Valentine's Day. It's fantastic! Not a fan of coffee flavor, so substituted Crio Bru for the coffee. And I was really liberal with the sweetened condensed milk. Such a delicious cake!
I made the cake this weekend and served to several friends! It was a hit! It’s nice because it’s chocolaty but not super sweet. I decorated with both Chantilly cream and chocolate whipped cream and decorated with fresh raspberries.
He bakes? Wow!
That sounds good 👍

On my bucket list is to make Rick's Oaxacan Black Mole!
Hi Rick, we so enjoy your shows! We have tried a few of your recipes also! Can I ask what dark chocolate you use for the cake? Thank you
RICK! You EVIL F'ing genius, I am putting pants on (don't judge me) and heading to the store right now.......
This is a perfect addition to this chocoholic family's dessert repertoire!
Hello baked??? Wow!
Mmmm😋Yummy👍
Wow! Cannot wait to make this. Where can I get that cake pan??
Christina Tosi I think had what was basically a chocolate tres leches (with chocolate milk and chocolate cake) at Milk Bar but I’m not sure if it was marketed as a tres leches. Mexican restaurants in South San Diego have had chocolate tres leches, at least in the 2-3 decades that I’ve passively sought them out.
Made this this weekend for friends. Taste was amazing but texture was not what i was expecting. The liquid didn’t soak in, even overnight. So the cake was very heavy & dense. Will try again & see if it comes out different.
Tres leche meets tirasimisu❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Is there a reason to add the sugar bit by bit at the end, instead of what most meringue recipes call for, which is just after the whites start to froth? It gives more time to dissolve the sugar and no risk of collapse.
As good as that looks I'll take a square piece from my local grocery store any day, has a certain something that can't be beat.

I posted a reply and the link for the recipe but it seems like KZread deleted it and doesn’t like for me to post links. Look at the description area of the video, there should be a clickable “more” button that will open up a full description. Depending on which device you’re viewing this on you may have to hit “more” again after that description is opened up. At the end of the full description is where Rick has multiple links including one to the recipe.
🙏🙏🙏❤️
How about pre- lent?

@4:00, this is a very bad practice which I thought to comment even before you dropped that yolk in the egg whites. You’re lucky it did not break, otherwise you would have just wasted four egg whites. I ALWAYS, crack the egg over a second container then pour the egg white into the main bowl with egg whites. This way, if you break a yolk, you only wasted one egg. That’s a rookie mistake, Chef.

How many James Beard awards have you won chef? Michelin stars? How many successful restaurants have you started? How many times have you been invited to cook for heads of state at the White House? You may want to take a look at his wikipedia page before you stick your foot even farther down your throat.
Yum!
