Watched Team America this morning for the first time. Looks great on 4K (aside from the Freedom Isn't Free sequence, but it makes sense since they filmed that without permission and had to do that secretly). Little bit annoying that the Unrated is only on the Blu, despite only being an extra minute longer. Got my first dedicated player yesterday too. I grabbed a Panasonic UB450, which is an amazing deal at $200 for a player that does Dolby Vision and HDR10+.
Frozen Empire was meh. Wouldn’t see it again after seeing it in theaters.
I'm disappointed that Abigail isn't getting a 4K release.

I thought frozen empire was a lot of fun so I think it would be worth picking up

One I'm hoping for, but don't have much faith it will get released, is the "Schumacher Cut" of Batman Forever. It's the 30th anniversary next year, and there was some recent scuttlebutt for it with Kevin Smith getting his hands on a copy, but I doubt we'll get it. It sounded like whatever he saw was in rough shape and would need some work, but even if they did just put out that rough assembly cut it would be an interesting watch.

I'm developing a curated movie collection, and I've been doing it delibsrately for about the last year or two, though I've gotten the stray movie here and there since I was a kid. So far, I have a solid 76 movies with a few of my favorite shows and don't intend to have more than what I absolutely want. I'm definitely not falling into the trap of getting literally everything, though. I have no intention of giving up streaming completely, but when it comes to the movies I love and don't want to be dependent upon licensing availability on streaming, I'm getting physical media copies so I can watch those particular movies whenever I feel like it. If I like them but don't mind waiting until streaming availabulity, I'll pass them over. Perhaps with very rare exception if it's something I know I'll like from a trusted director (and there aren't many), I also won't get anything I haven't seen first as a general rule, which is why I still find streaming worthwhile. The issue I find myself having is whether or not i should continue to get Blu-rays, saving 4K for my absolute favorites, or if I should just try to get everything in 4K moving forward, and if I should replace my existing Blu-rays with 4K, which ones. That, I find, is a much tougher dilemma. Should I limit my 4K's to my absolute favorites and get everything else on Blu-ray, or should I just get 4K moving forward and replace every Blu-ray in my collection?
The film is a load of garbage if it was free I'd not take it

My favorite Laserdisc, I just watched the DVD on my new pana820 and my friends would tease me for purchasing widescreen versions but they acknowledge now my choices.
I watched this the other day. It's a very average film. But the sound was undeniably phenomenal.
Twister is all about the sound. Was so hyped to hear it was getting an Atmos remaster, even more excited now to hear they've done it justice!

Movies coming out of Hollywood are crap. What has happened to all the good writers. Plus it costs too much nowadays and people are annoying. Talking and phones pinging😫
The little cgi changes are a good thing and its nothing like the star wars cgi change your being to over the top using that as a comparison. Surely seeing the stuntman face instead of Arnold takes me out of the film and now he's changed it i think it done for the better also with the knife not bending. Its seems your nitpicking for the sake of it and nothing on the scale to star wars. As for picture quality that comes down to the person preferences and tv setup
How does this compare to the German Blu Ray released a couple of years ago?
I didnt know what to watch so I just went with Good Morning Vietnam
Also, Twister already had a great Atmos track(as well as an Auro3D track) on the German Special Edition release from Turbine. Dunno if Universal reused that one. Turbine also did a video reencode that was good. Admittedly from the old master but still better than the dogshit Universal release.

4:3 is full frame, you are actually getting more picture information at top or bottom, however the framing is not as intended

Bonus note. The "shed destruction" scene near the end of the film has some of the best audio in cinema history. For years I used the DVD to show off my sound system.
I was fortunate to have seen this film in the theater opening night, and the audio was truly a life-changing experience for me. Incredible movie and epic performances from everyone. One of the best films featuring Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt, and so many supporting actors from Philip Seymour Hoffman to Cary Elwes, Alan Ruck, and Jami Gertz. And Mark Mancina's Americana score mixed with the backdrop of Van Halen's "Humans Being" song...you cannot beat this film. Cinema gold!
I remember watching it on theaters, I was a kid, it was the first time I ever got late to a movie, so even though I completely missed the whole beginning, it's still one of my most fond memories

A true fun classic. It’s difficult to describe what a phenomenon this movie was when new. Hooky that the new one keep the spirit of slightly silly fun that doesn’t insult the audience and takes us for a ride.
Except Fire in the Sky actually happened.
