Yeah it seems so random. Aquaman 2 gets it, but not BR2049. Oppenheimer gets it, but not No Time to Die. GOTG Vol 3 gets it, but not Alita Battle Angel. Seems like there’s no pattern

I’m so lucky I snagged the steelbook when I did!

I'm kinda bummed that the blu-ray isn't bundled with the 4k release because I like to take my movies on the go. I guess I have a very unique circumstance because I'm a high school teacher working in a very poor area. My students don't get the opportunity to go to the movies very often and the internet connection in the area is so slow that streaming is difficult. I like to show a movie every week after school and introduce them to classic films and modern day block blusters. Just sucks that I have to buy the film twice if I want to take it somewhere and leave my 4k version at home.

I pre ordered from GRUV, I liked the SB artwork better, and I learned my lesson on being late to the preorder party when the Oppenheimer SB were being offered. Third party prices on eBay were $200. Insane ! I wound up buying a French import SB for 58. to have in my collection. Seeing it on the big screen was excellent, (IMAX).

I’m one of the few that seems to not mind not getting IMAX ratio at home. I’ll take it when we get it forsure, but the expanded ratio is used in theaters so that you’re engulfed by the frame on such a massive screen, but your eye is still trained on the center. it just helps immerse you. but at home it often winds up being a lot of negative space that distracts from the more carefully composed shot

I have a hunch we'll get the IMAX versions of this re-released in physical media form once the trilogy is released. We will have to wait a see.

I know it's not the same but you can purchase parts 1 & 2 in a special case/package. I know it's up at GRUV.

As soon as I saw a 2 minute video for a review I know this was either an absolute disaster or flipping fantastic! So glad I nabbed the steelbook

agreed. have it on blu ray and the sound and pic is superb. great film but I have to see it a few more times to get it.

Short and sweet! I bought emotiva basx a3, magic beans and dirac live all for this movie! It sounds amazing with my 7.1.4 setup. This is why physical media is a must. Streaming does not sound or look like this at all!

you clearly love movies like the rest of us, so why not put the 4k BR review in the front of the video and then, close that part of the video but continue to do a personal view/analysis of the film. This would allow those looking for the BR review only to get the review and bail out when its done, and those who enjoy your more elaborate content to continue watching your insights and point of views. Just a thought.

I went into Walmart with a mission yesterday. Walked in, grabbed Dune 2 on 4K, checked out and left. Short and sweet like your review lol

Solid quick review. Surprised you didn’t mention the skimping out on extras for the physical release. They could have (and should have) easily been ported on an accompanying blu Ray disc. Otherwise, it’s a great release.

Bought this movie in 4K within a week or two of its release (got John Wick Chapter 4 Blu-ray that day too). Easily the best movie I've seen all year thus far.

As someone with a 4k TV and a 1080p projector setup, I’m bummed that WB doesn’t like putting 4k and standard discs in the same package anymore.

🙉wasn't expecting the F bomb. I had my little girls in the room. Oops. I look forward to the disc though

The first movie looks fantastic on 4K disc, not surprised Part 2 looks equally amazing. Finally watching it again on 4K bluray this weekend, looking forward to seeing how good it looks myself 😁 Also, looking forward to your video in IMAX ratios on home media. I get bummed when discs dont have the IMAX scenes in the original ratio, so an explanation video would be vey interesting.

Gotta wait until next month because my budget is tight this month but I'm excited to pick it up!

Seeing Dune part 2 after the Total Solar Eclipse was magnificent. The crowd in the coliseum was pretty demented.

What's the aspect ratio? I get the difficulty of IMAX image at home, but most home TVs are 16:9. They have no excuse not fill that screen.

How do you feel about all of the CGI bring upscaled from 2k to 4k?

Just enjoy it now regardless of the IMAX ratio. I held off rewatching part 1 this year until part 2 is released and was fully immersed in both films together through my “75 TV and Dolby Atmos soundbar😎

I'm curious. Why? I do think they need to drop the prices if they don't include it though. $30 for just the 4K disc is steep. Eliminating the Blu-ray should pass the cost savings down to consumers.

I tend to want the blu-ray so I can watch it in other rooms that don't have 4K players. But of all the times I've gone out of my way to get the combo pack with the blu-ray, times I've watched the blu-ray is zero. I do like having it to rip to put on mobile devices though. I do lend out the blu-ray copies 100x more often than the 4K copies though. I only know one person who has 4K capability.

They should lower the MSRP without the Blu-ray Disc, but having the digital copy these days is almost making the Blu-ray and DVD obsolete unless those are your only playback options. Paramount has released several titles that include 4K, Blu-ray, DVD & Digital that were available at Walmart and now on Amazon for $10-$15.

LOL, OMG, did I just hear Jeff drop the Eff Bomb ?? Yes I did !! Absolutely right, this is a no brainer pick up and I did get the steel book version to complement my SB of Dune part one, which was an import. The alternative art work on SB’s I find more compelling. Will there be a third ? 🤞

I think it’s important to point out that half of the special features are not on the physical copy. And the digital copy has all of the features.

Well I picked up the movie and watched it . Have to say it’s the best demo of Dolby atmos I have ever heard! If someone thinks there has been a better reference soundtrack than this let me know as I will buy that also if I don’t already own it. If you don’t own It get it as it is awesome

Got my Steelbook yesterday!

a-lot of us don't have imax screens at home let alone on the 4k tvs may get wide screen 21:9 two black bars on top and bottom. imax is not cheap to add onto disc. spiderman no way home on digital gets imax screen but the disc gets the 21:9 wide screen format.

Glad it is no IMAX. I have a scope screen so 2.35:1 is the best for me.

Audio amazing my wife was banging on the floor lol telling me to turn the subs down. Video wise HDR was kind if flat in my opinion. I have an A80J so maybe it just my peak brightness is not up to the newer panels but it didnt pop as much as I was hoping. Great film though.

I got my standard 4K slipcover this afternoon from Amazon after trying to get the steelbook for about a week which was impossible.

We havent had digital codes with discs here in the UK for years, so a single 4K disc for us is going to be a bit bare bones...

I totally disagree with the comment made about the quality of the 4k video for Dune Part 2. I found the dvd to be too dark in many of the scenes and therefore I have to question whether 4K is worth it for this film. I would expect all scenes in the movie to be pristine and noticeably so but the film looks like any other dvd. I also think that some of the scenes out in the open where you would really notice the difference was really disappointing. This might be my TV but a doubt it since most of the other 4ks I have are fine and I don't think it is my Samsung TV which is only a few years old. The sound is outstanding as mentioned. As a side note I have also experienced this with two other 4Ks I have purchased. Jack Ryan 4K the last season is also extremely dark and I doubt if it is better than the Blu-ray. I also had the same problem with Prey 4K and I compared it to the Blu-ray and thought the BD picture was better. Just the opinion of the someone wants the best picture possible when I view a film.

Yeah. Came in the mail for me last night. My Marantz SR7015, emotiva and Klipsch Reference Premiers were working hard last night. Great movie. I read that Dune 2 was a reference disc also. So it was max quality.

I know this has nothing to do with the topic. Are you aware the Rarewaves has the uncut DVD of The Devils for sale? Just thought you might want be interested if you didn’t already know.

Well done super great movie.... But I'm very sad that I can't buy it. I don't quite understand this policy. Here in Slovenia (EU), they simply don't sell them. But if I order it from abroad, it does not have Slovenian subtitles. I really don't know what to do or where to turn.

I'm really bummed that no digital copy was bundled with the disc in Canada. Wished I had the time and patience to wait for a Hong Kong import.

I think digital copies are being phased out. We don't get them at all in the UK anymore.

@@devononair Only studios still bundling digital copies in Canada are Sony, Paramount and Disney. Sony's fine, I can still redeem it with google. But Paramount and Disney are a different story. With Paramount, their digital copies are only redeemable for Apple and Disney forces consumers to redeem it at the Cineplex Store. 😩

I know I’m in the minority here but as a projector owner with a scope screen I was so happy when I heard this disk had no IMAX scenes. On a setup like mine scope is infinitely better because it fits my screen and gives me a much larger image than IMAX ratio. BUT of course I understand why the majority of people want the IMAX version that fits their screens better and I hope you all get that option eventually. I think the best solution is to have both versions available and allow people to choose. I was upset at first when I heard Disney+ was starting to offer the IMAX versions of their films but thankfully they made a great decision and still offer the scope versions for people like me. Not sure if they will do that going forward but for now I’m happy.
