I went to CEX a couple of weeks ago and saw No Country on 4K. I snatched it up, only to look at it closer and realise that someone in the back room had clearly just grabbed whatever box they could reach for the regular Blu-ray when putting it out on the shelf, not realising the deep cut personal rollercoaster I would go on when I saw it only to have my heart broken.

Barry Lyndon in 4K for the 50th anniversary is a must ... hopefully, 'Kubrick by Candlelight' will be included as an extra; the current Criterion Blu-ray, issued in 2017, is from a 4K master. As an aside, I am hopeful for an 'Eyes Wide Shut' 4K in late 2024 as that movie is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.

Amadeus 4K restoration was recently presented at the Academy Museum to a sold out audience. Even if it’s December, I want to see it on 4K UHD for its 40th anniversary. Nice predictions!

I'd love 'Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid' in 4k.

We also don't have a 4K release of "Lolita". I've been waiting on that one (particularly from Criterion, at least on Blu-ray) for years. (I know Warner put out an old Blu-ray years ago.)

@@blakeevans8210 Quite correct, we almost have the full set of 4K UHDs for the Kubrick canon of work ... just missing 'Lolita', 'Barry Lyndon' and 'Eyes Wide Shut'. I suspect Frank Tarzi at Kino Lorber may be our saviour on these but, maybe, Warner Bros or Criterion will come good.

We need a Gone with the Wind on 4K. Edit to add: Sleeping Beauty on 4K would be a banger!

El Cid needs it so badly. I am begging for a North American release. Heck, I’d take a region a blu ray. I thought for sure Ben hur was a lock for this year but it’s not looking too good. El Cid is one of two movies that are at the top of my list for a blu ray or 4k release in North America. The other is John Wayne’s the Alamo and next year is the 65th anniversary. I really hope it finally happens. Those two movies would be amazing. I could finally retire my DVDs.

@@Reggaebeatman yea there are releases of el cid in France, Australia, Germany but they’re based on the 30 year old restoration they did in the 90s. They used the same master for the dvd. Is a crying shame, it’s such a great movie and deserves better treatment. Sadly, it seems like Weinstein still owns it. I sure hope something comes by the anniversary in 2026. It sure would be a good candidate for a kino lorber title- maybe even criterion.

I really hope Tron and Tron: Legacy gets a 4K release with the third film expected next year. I would also include White Christmas on my wish list.

We absolutely have to have Dances With Wolves on 4k blu-ray. It would look stunning, and I wouldn't mind about the cost. It's such a great film!

Seven, Ben Hur, Dances With Wolves, The Sound of Music, all of these better be the best 4K transfers ever. Nothing less is required

It wouldn't surprise me if Kino Lorber did "The Hustler", which is one of Newman's best films. "Hud" is one I've been wanting to see for years. Given that it's Paramount, it could (at the very least) get a Paramount Presents Blu-ray release.

Commando 4k?! 40th anniversary!!

Fincher has spoken a bit about the restoration process, I think he’d be pretty meticulous in how it looks in the 4K format, but I can’t wait for it!!!

I was really hopeful since this year is its 50th anniversary and I doubt we'd see it but I just think Young Frankenstein would be incredible in 4K. One of my all times faves and we know how incredible black and white looks

We have to wait and see what Sony does, given that it appears that Disney sold the Fox library home video rights to them. On that, I agree, that would be great, especially for The Criterion Collection, who should also do Weir's 1986 film "The Mosquito Coast".

I really hope we get the Narnia movies in 4k.

Amadeus!!! Been waiting patiently for years for a 4k with (hopefully) both cuts - Director's & Theatrical. Amadeus is one of those rare cases where I think the Director's Cut is inferior to the theatrical & the only version available on Blu ray or streaming is the Director's. Here's hoping they deliver soon!

PTA films in 4K would be spectacular!!! I feel Boogie Nights and There Will Be Blood would be the best looking in 4K out of the films Robert Elswit photographed for PTA, fantastic use of film stock and colours and lighting (in fact, Punch-Drunk Love is great in the colours department!!)

I have a feeling we'll also get Airplane on 4K next year for its anniversary. The restoration was done a few years ago for the Paramount Presents Blu-ray

I am a little surprised that Dances with Wolves hasn't gotten a 4k release considering just how popular Yellowstone is and how Kevin Costner is the face of it. I bet we see that sooner rather than later.

The big two I'm waiting for are Dances With Wolves (with Director's Cut) and Forbidden Planet

They need to release The Talented Mr Ripley and the Beach.

It will be the 35th Anniversary for Edward Scissorhands and the 26th for Fight Club so it is the perfect time for both but Disney so who knows. Edward Scissorhands is in 4K on streaming so the scan must have been done.

Dances with wolves would look absolutely stunning on 4K, those wide open unspoiled vistas and gorgeous sunsets 😍

@@adamjames6683 The 2019 Spanish (A/B/C) Blu-ray with DTS 5.1 is excellent and is well worth searching out in advance of any 4K release ... you may need to search for Pink Floyd 'El Muro'.

Great commentary on TMNT. As a kid I liked Secret of the Ooze way more than the first one. As an adult, #2 is a major cheese factory, but #1 really holds up!

It's going to be 25th anniversary for Eyes wide shut this September. We need a new remaster for that to complete the Kubrick collection.

The Book Of Eli. It’s one of the most underrated apocalypse movies of all time. It’s got Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman for crying out loud. It would be absolutely amazing on 4k. A dynamic atmos soundtrack would sound astonishing with all the overhead action and all the fighting and gunfire in general.

Yes, 100% on the 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! When I got my 4K player, that was one of the first titles I tried to track down, and was very disappointed that it hadn't been released yet. Fingers crossed 🤞 on that one!

Anniversaries are a great way to predict Warner Bros releases, other studios less so. My predictions are based more on what I'm seeing rolling out on 4K lately, which is a lot of movies that were 90's and 2000's comedies or appealed to teenagers at that time. I feel like 'Clueless' is probably coming soon. It's the 25th anniversary for 'Cruel Intentions' this year, but I have yet to hear about a remastering, yet it's a big teen movie of the time and I think it will get a 4K release. I'm not sure if WB will wait for anniversary for 'Austin Powers', I wouldn't be surprised if they just did it sooner. As for other high profile titles, I think 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' has got to come sometime soon. I would guess 'Chicago' too. As for lower profile releases, there is a 4K remastering of 'Wake In Fright' in the works, so I won't be surprised if Criterion or somebody release that one on physical next year.

If Disney can remaster Fantasia to 4K next year, maybe throw in Pinocchio for 4K.

Amadeus and One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest would be amazing. I've been wanting these 2 extraordinary titles on 4K for years. Thanks always, Jeff 😊

Agree with all these great films. Hoping TMNT includes an extended cut with all the deleted scenes incorporated. One other im hoping for is William Wyler's Ben Hur. Deserves the same treatment as 2001 A Space Odyssey received.
