Oh, as a wiseass who I am, I have to tell you, that your lack of precision is disappointing. The problem with the amount of "like" in a sentence is only given, when used as a filler because the brain is to slow to build sentences in advance to the speed of the mouth. So you can hold speeches with a lot of "like" , like when you use it to really compare real things to another. Like I'm comparing Lesley's head to a mashed potatoe. Or when you tell something you like, like I tell you and the whole world that I really like good writing not like that crap, that is coming out of heads like Lesley's. Yeaaa his acting wasn't bad. The dialogue was mid. But the action was 10/10 so it saved it mostly. I love phantom menace..

I wish we could call out bad writing and bad acting on a grossly over budget production without being called a racist by a half white actress who has been handed acting jobs since she was three with three million in net worth.

Write what you know. How many times in The Acolyte is someone knocked out and wakes up under someone's power? How many villainous mentors do we need to see? I've stopped watching. I've been in arguments with black nerd groups over it. They asked me to give my honest "legit criticisms", and I do - nothing about the lead being female, nothing about DEI, just all about the writing and plot. And I still get called a self-hating black person who hates women. 🙃 what a world. I'll add - I was told that the actress was being "oppressed", and I argued that "no person who is a lead of a star wars franchise project, makes good money, and is still in work, is being 'oppressed' by 'mean comments' on a social platform". I was responded to by way of saying look at the examples of Kelly Marie Tran and Boyega -- to which I pointed out "How were they oppressed? Kelly simply left twitter, which was a smart move because it's a cesspool, and Boyega himself aired his issues via working with Disney. Both have continued to work, and have had multiple projects immediately after their star wars movies. How are they oppressed? How were their careers impacted when they're still getting work?" It devolved into changing the subject. I'm tired of people trying to defend badly written projects with various types x-isms. I really am. It undermines REAL prejudices, and it cheapens actual diversity and actual inclusivity that takes time to actually build well written narratives. But apparently, people don't care about that - they just want main stream media to sell them slop and call it good. 🤷🏾‍♂

Brother, you're not alone. I'm black myself and have gotten the same treatment on various subjects and issues from blacks as well as anyone of any group that has that sort of worldview and ideology. I'm the worst guy they(black folks and sjw's) can't dismiss because I check all their boxes that should have me agreeing with them, but I agree with nothing they say and can argue against their trash effectively. If it's any consolation, just know that you aren't alone on your view of things. I agreed with everything you've said here, and I'm a legacy, EU SW fan who was done with Disney since the 1st prequel movie with garbage Rey. Acolyte is just fun for roasting with spoiled, race hustling Stenberg, space lesbians, and terrible storytelling for this long deceased franchise. Trust me, this isn't my first rodeo with entertainment critiques with folks, especially black people, who thought I should like something strictly because the actor was black and nothing else. Keep doing your thing. Our skin color doesn't determine what we should think about these things. You should've seen the reaction when I told black folks that Black Panther was mediocre and a filler for the next Avengers movie. They were pissed. They hated me when I critiqued Michael B. I'm often called internally misogynistic by women who do the 'patriarchy' thing when all I'm doing is disagreeing with their takes. We get, like you said, a change of subject or irrelevant off topic 'whatabout', often insults but rarely if ever a cogent argument supporting their claims. I sometimes wonder if such people secretly know what they say doesn't add up but find it easier to go with their crowd. I'd prefer to retain my morals rather than join a crowd because it's easier. I also think our way of seeing the world is how the vast majority do. If it were otherwise these shows would be going gangbusters, yet they fail. Character development and well written storyline/scripts must always come first.

She’s a lousy actress on a lousy tv show, and that’s all there is to it for 99% of the people who dislike her, her characters, and her show. She just sucks, and there’s no ‘nice way’ to put it. She needs to take the money she has made so far and use it to go to college to work towards a Masters or a Doctorate so she can have a real career one day; it’s obvious to virtually everyone on earth that she does not have the talent and skill to make a career out of acting.

IT OPENS UP A LOT OF QUESTIONS!

Has anyone noticed in other Star Wars shows, even on Andor there are always shots of the people operating the ships and you can even see the planets thru their windows like what they see. But in Acolyte there are always these quick animations of the ships and instantly goes back in the ship with no view on the outside, even when somebody is in the cockpit the camera angle is from the window point of view showing the pilot.

George Lucas was criticized more than this for doing less damage to Star Wars, and handled it with much more class.

People making fun of them in comic book stores, in theaters, in school. I enjoyed them anyway as a little kid, but I also remember the relentless shade thrown at it. I am not sure where you live that you did not experience that, but good for you. I experienced the hate that came with the 3 prequel movies, including being mocked for going to see them.

You know i have a friend at work who's a massive Star Wars fan. Like got tattoos and everything kind of fan. I asked him what he thought of this show a few days ago and it looked like I asked if he thought his childhood pet is burning in hell. He went from angry to sad to angry again to straight up depressed. Then he said something I know must have killed him just a little bit to admit.
