This movie literally changed the trajectory of my life when I saw it in the theater in 1993 when I was 7 years old. I became in instant nerd and have been obsessed with science and biology ever since.

I was 10 years old when it released. Could not have been a better age to see it: young enough to still be mad about dinosaurs, old enough to watch it in the cinema.

Same. Movie changed my little kid life. Coolest thing I ever saw. The idea that it could be possible to create dinosaurs in modern time blew my mind.

Jurassic Park is literally my best movie theater experience ever! Edge of my seat, eyes and mouth wide open. I was 9 years old at the time. And to this day the movie is still relevant. You're rightfully pointing out the things that made Steven Spielberg great, but for me it really is Stan Winston as well. Not just for his work on Jurassic Park, but also the Terminator, Aliens and Predator movies. It was literally these movies that made me a movie fan. Stan Winston + great director = movie magic!

I resisted for years saying this is my all time favorite movie. As a movie buff, I kept trying to say it was some Italian neo post war introspective something something that made me seem cool and pretentious, but I kept coming back to the fact that there's no other movie that's brought me more joy, that I've watched more times, or had a bigger impact of my love of movies that Jurassic Park! Great review Jeff! Keep them coming!

I love this movie to death, bro. One of the reasons I love this movie is because of the incredible themes it explores, which are more relevant today than ever before. For example, in the lunch conference room scene when Ian says: "I’ll tell you the problem with the scientific power that you’re using here: it didn’t require any discipline to attain it. You read what others had done and you took the next step. You didn’t earn the knowledge for yourselves, so you don’t take any responsibility for it. You stood on the shoulders of geniuses to accomplish something as fast as you could and before you even knew what you had, you patented it, and packaged it, and slapped it on a plastic lunchbox, and now you’re selling it, you want to sell it!" and "Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should."

I was born in 1993, and honestly, I feel like I was one of the only 90s kids to just not care for dinosaurs. I was too busy watching Cartoon Network and Disney movies... But let me tell you, my wife was born in 1994 and she LOVES this film. This is one of her top 3 films of all time. The only films that can compete are Gremlins and Aliens, so that'll probably demonstrate her taste in movies 🤣 Yeah, we've been together close to 13 years and she will drag me to the theatre whenever a new film comes out. I've seen Jurassic World, Fallen Kingdom and Dominion with her, and while she always cared about them more than I did (except Dominion, she had nothing positive to say there...), I have grown to appreciate the original film for the fantastic special effects. We actually went to a limited 30th anniversary screening last year. As I expected, she couldn't pass it up, and she still to this day marvels at the scenes where we first see the Brachiosaurus reaching for those leaves in their first scenes and let's not forget about the T-Rex escaping her pen in the rain. In a world where we've been spoiled by CG monsters, it's amazing to think that was all practical animatronic work... So yeah, I still don't LOVE Jurassic Park, but objectively, it's easily a 10/10 film for what it is.

I remember being 5 years old sitting in the theater with my mom watching Jurassic Park and I felt like I was watching dinosaurs in real life. My mom didn't know what to think and was completely blown away by the visuals and she had to cover my eyes when the T-Rex ate Gennaro, but I ducked away from her hand so I could watch it. 🤣

Hell yes Jeff, Jurassic Park was a formative film for me. I was 12, and JP was probably the best theatrical experience of my life. I'd already seen Return of the Jedi at 3, Batman and Ghostbusters 2 at 9, TMNT at 10, but this one topped them all. It made me dino-obsessed that summer. Read the book, got the soundtrack, read the Starlog magazine cover to cover. It was amazing.

Et, the best alien, boy and his friend movie ever made. The film score soundtrack made me truly emotional, it is such a beautiful soundtrack. Jurassic Park has to be in the top 20 pieces of cinema all time. A true masterpiece and truly the perfect time in history. Dinosaur mania came about because of it at that time. The amount of merchandise created because of that film, can literally never be enumerated. Billions and billions of dollars worth. And millions and millions of pieces of merch. Truly love this film. And I am a sucker, I even like part 3 and 2 to a degree.

My local theater company has a classic cinema in our downtown area, they've changed to exclusively showing classic cinema this year. They're showing Jurassic Park, Lord of the Rings, and Ghibli's Arrietty this weekend. Had E.T. and Jaws all week. They've shown the Harry Potter films the last two months, Iron Giant, Spirited Away, and more.

I'm in agreement with Jeff on the 3D version: It's the best of the legacy 3D post-conversions and makes a more effective use of the format than a large number of the modern era's post-converted - and natively shot - 3D movies.

I think another reason the VFX still holds up is it's very grounded. They don't make the dinosaurs do anything OTT and beyond what's believable. People point the finger at Marvel because the characters don't look realistic and are often doing insane stunts which break what's physically possible. They are meant to be extraordinary and that's what breaks the illusion. In reality, today, CGI is often used to recreate real world environments and objects and people are completely unaware they're seeing CGI. Dune is a great example, despite being sci-fi, there's nothing which is beyond what's believable and you don't think about the fact you're looking at CGI. Top Gun Maverick is also full of CGI but most people don't realise. This one succeeds because they did real world photography as a basis and then built upon that. If you shoot real environments instead of in green screen, the CGI becomes invisible
