The SHOCKING Truth About This Abandoned Jurassic Park Sequel

Ойын-сауық

Jurassic World was originally a sequel to Trespasser that Seamus Blackley helped develop with Spielberg and Universal. It eventually got repurposed for the new trilogy but when it was a game, came complete with Billy and a Raptor squad on Isla Sorna with T.rexes, Spinosaurs, a military battle that feels like Avatar and a lot of cool ideas!

I feel the same way about Kelly Malcom. She should’ve been the “diversity hire” instead of cramming in yet another brand new character (Kayla Watts) at the last hour. Though I don’t considered Kelly’s original casting as a diversity hire. Man the 90s were so much better and less racist.

@@AZ-697 Yes! Exactly. The 90s was definitely an awesome era. If this is supposed to be the "Epic conclusion" to Jurassic Park, then why not bring back Kelly Malcolm? Why not bring back Lex and Tim? Or Sarah Harding for that matter? Instead of bringing in the new characters that did absolutely nothing to advance the story.

If I may be so bold, I think Hollywood as a whole see the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park (+World) as movie monsters, not animals. They're not creature to admire and sympathize with, they're monsters to be afraid of who kill, kill, kill and kill for no reason other than being monsters. Nowhere is this more clear than in JP3, where you have a Spinosaurus who, despite having killed a T-rex which would feed it for at worst a week, at best a full month, chases after the human characters as if it was Michael Meyers in a Spino suit. This is also why, I think, Jurassik World ended up not being very good (the trilogy, not the movie). While they adopted the "Dinos are beautiful animals that we have to protect" in places, most of the dinosaurs are STILL treated as movie monsters. The Bari chasing "hippie stereotype number 2" through lava even though a normal animal would have ran away from it. The T-rex stopping for long enough to kill it even though a fricking volcano was erupting. The flying sauries immediately attacking the park visitors instead of acting like real animals and getting as far away from their cage as they could before even thinking about food... Old trilogy, the dinos were 90% monsters with 1-2 scenes of them being animals. New Trilogy gets somewhere at 70-30. The USA movie industry as a whole has huge issues with letting non-humans (or even non-white, at times) be the heroes of the story. Never mind how often those who don't look anywhere near human are categorically the monsters, while all the good guys are so similar to humans it feels like we're back in the days of OG Star Trek.

This plot is so amazing, and the fact it was used without credit infuriates me, used in a weaker plot being more infuriating. This game could have given more context and fleshed out the strongest possibility for humanity to survive with dinosaurs, even manipulating them for plots in the future. Them going against humans shows their capabilities in being a possible weapon, like attack dogs. Billy would definitely record his findings, and best believe that information can get into the wrong hands. Black market Dino breeders would have more information for buyers to train the dinos. I can easily imagine a drug lord taking over a region with soldiers using calls and cues to have raptors attack, with the eggs well protected to show who owns and protects them.

@@DrangusKahn Jurassic World 1, outside of the first 30 minutes or so, is actually a very solid survival adventure film that had Spielberg's DNA all over it, it just didn't feel like Jurassic Park. On its own terms, it's a well-realized summer throwback movie with a few spectacular set pieces. Jurassic World works because of its simplicity. Fallen Kingdom is different. It has even better action sequences than JW, but its plotting is strained and labored. It struggles with tone, the dialogue is rough, the characters are paper-thin (both problems with JW1 to a lesser extent) and it just feels like studio-funded fan fiction. There's something dark and peculiar about it that I still appreciate though, and the direction/cinematography/music are all top-level. It works (barely) on those merits. Dominion's issues almost entirely lie on the writing. It doesn't understand the legacy characters, it doesn't even understand its own logic and it comes off as a bloated and cynical cash-grab that never understood the source material in the first place. Something that makes me question Trevorrow's intentions all the way back to 2013 when he was announced for JW1.

I wish we had this sequel for the Jurassic Park series instead of Jurassic World. The reason why is because the dinosaurs in JW were broken. They weren't really themselves. Like real animals. You can't be that way all the time in the real world. You have to mate, socialize, and you don't need to spend all your time hunting and eating. It doesn't work that way. If you're going to wake up, their has to be actual genetics, and if it's going to repair itself, you're going to have animals that are much more curious and intellectual. Not every predator is going after every single prey that passes by. Sometimes, it has its fill already. But that's just my opinion. But it would have been very exciting to see a sequel that's much more like a real Jurassic Park sequel instead of another action film.

Especially considering it would make sense for Billy to communicate with the raptors considering he made the velociraptor resonating chamber AND has encountered them before. This story kind of works well. I don't know about the big dinosaur war at the end, but the idea of all these wild animals caught up in an orgy of disorder would help that make sense. It's also disheartening to hear and see Universal just once again taking ideas from others after shutting their projects down.

What an interesting story! I have no idea if this would have been executed well, but if it was this would have set the franchise down a fascinating trajectory. Seamus Blackley’s idea of epic, chaotic insanity sounds so fun!! I feel sorry for him, and I don’t know who’s responsible for drip-feeding this plot outline to the Jurassic World production, but it was a cheap trick to kill off Blackley’s story. Billy being taken in by the raptors is reminding me of a now-deleted JP fanfic that was basically Tarzan/Jungle Book with a small boy living among Raptors on Isla Sorna, involving human hunters and a malevolent T. Rex akin to Shere Khan.

Honestly, from the dinosaur genetics standpoint, I think this and what came from Jurassic World would dovetail really well, obviously with some changes to both. On one hand, you have the loose dinos that are quickly going to their original prehistoric aesthetics and behaviors, and on the other hand, you have humans not just filling in the gaps with modern dna, but doing the whole hybrid thing like Indominus Rex and Indoraptor. Jurassic Park is classic ground for juxtaposition, and it would have really been awesome to flesh this out in both directions. This is certainly a very fascinating idea to explore! But I don't think it would've worked as a movie, unless it was a really long one (like James Cameron's Avatar levels of long). A lot needs to be developed because it was already stretching our belief with Owen's relationship with his raptor Squad in Jurassic World. He had the benefit of having a pre-existing relationship by the time the movie started. Here though, we're talking about having to build a relationship from scratch, multiple times it seems. First with Blue and then with the other dinosaurs across the island, dinosaurs who would've been predisposed to distrust humans like Billy given how the military has been treating them. This would not be something that is achieved quickly, but probably over quite some time, time that would've been hard to really show in a movie. I think I would've liked to explore this more in a game setting, where the story can unfold over a longer period of time. Dragon Age: Origins comes to mind for this, where like Billy here, our protagonist goes around collecting allies by helping them to resolve major problems that they have. Through this whole process, they would learn about who they were, their background, how this issue came about, all before deciding how they would resolve the conflict at hand. Its an approach that would've helped build a connection between the Billy and the dinosaurs he meets. Its very unfortunate that this got cancelled, but perhaps one day we can get a game that looks and feels like this.

....WHY HAS NO ONE MADE THIS GAME!?!?! It'd be so freaking cool, they could still repurpose it into more of a self-insert (like a design your oc, m/f/nb.) and how over time doing research with Dr. Billy, the doctor goes missing, you go with the aid of those who funded the dig and gotta go save him, while doing all of this awesome stuff and then having multiple end decisions like staying on the island, going back home and never returning and an alternate version where you go back years later and make the calls the pack is familiar with to see your old friends.... And you've learned to better communicate with the device gifted to you by Billy after saving him from the military.

This is a great "sequel" to JP3 and the 'relationahip' btwn the characters and the raptors. It's quickly shown that after they find the eggs and Billy takes some they're bing followed. Almost as it they were always being watched by the raptors. I could see the females from JP3 being the matriarchs as displayed in this play. I firmly believe that going all the way back to the beginning of JP3 that the raptors knew Eric was on the island and they tracked him, however since he did no pose a threat to them they just bypassed him. You see how at the end when they heard the helicopters they all just trotted off, and how whenever other animals were around they weren't (outside of chasing the characters into the herd). Those JP3 raptors were on another level and I do think the dynamic btwn Owen and the pack was a nice evolution to the JP3 raptors. Your video about how in JW1 owen never lost the alpha status really made me think differently on all that, and it made sense. I wish they made this game now. Too bad Dominion had no true raptor involvement 😢

There is a fanfiction called "Jurassic Park: Ranger of Isla Sorna" that is very good and has a plot that is very similar to this. I think you would like it if you are interested in it, Klayton. A young park ranger stays behind on the island and is trying to survive when he helps a female raptor. She is the leader of her pack and he kinda gets taken in as part of the pack. He has to deal with many other species of dinosaurs, including the spino. It crosses with JP3 at a point. It's pretty cool. I wonder if the author had heard about this game or concept when they were writing their story, because the base is very similar.

I'm still not 100% sold on the alliance with things like the rex/spino/quetz, but I think having them more as in game hazards that you can either benefit from or be destroyed by if not properly managed would have been a better take. Think like a neutral party that is incredibly powerful, sort of like how in JW Claire uses the flare to get the rex's attention and then throws it to the I-rex, you could have the threat of a rex on the island chasing you, but by unlocking a specific "key item" like a flare, you can intentionally get the rex's attention and direct it towards a group of soldiers instead.

This sounds like a cool idea but could also have very easily slipped over the thin line to being silly if not handled right, i think what id have done is instead of billy teaming with a pack of raptors maybe he could find a young one who's pack had wiped out, throughout the game the young raptor could grow becoming stronger as a kind of psuedo leveling system, as for the final battle rather than just being able to command loads of different dinosaurs I'd have maybe a late game mission where you have to attract the Rex or a spino to where the soldiers are so they fight each other, really that big fight at the end just sounded a bit mad and where it lost me a bit but a lot of this seems awesome and soumds like it could have been a much better idea than the world trilogy we got

Honestly this sounds really crazy, especially the idea of the T-rexs and some of the other dinosaurs teaming up with Bill sounds kinda goofy in my opinion. Although I do like the idea of the Raptors following him around and keeping tabs on him, it would have been cool and creepy at the same time. This story dose sound a lot like "Avatar (2009)" mixed with The Lost World (and a tiny bit of Ark Survival Evolved). It also feels more like a pitch for a movie than a video game lol. I can see this being more of a prequel to the first Jurassic World movie if Universal decided to reuse this old idea. 🎮🤔🦖 (24:50). I had no idea about that, thats pretty cool. I think you're right about that Klayton, things do happened for a reason. It's like what master Oogway said, "There are no accidents". 📝🤷🐢

Yeah I agree with this too it's an interesting but insane concept but yet a cool one and hell the concept works both as a movie or video game again with a promising pitch like this in shocked this wasn't made or executed and from the interview that klayton read out was fascinating alone I mean imagine if this was a movie or video game alone with the Billy character back for one last time to bridge the gap between the JP trilogy and the JW trilogy kinda like rouge one a star wars story but done better and with genetically engineered saurians... And with princess with the mutual respect bond to an extent is kinda giving me Hermes vibes from Cadillacs and dinosaurs with a sprinkle of far cry primal to a degree especially and I wouldn't be surprised if the makers from far cry primal took some inspiration from this pitch and made it their own with ice age mammals of course...

I myself was severely disappointed and full of doubt when I first heard about the new movies, and I chose to NOT see them in theater (very unlike me) because I just knew that they were going in the wrong directions and they would ruin it. They ruined it oh so badly, and it gets worse. I belonged to a group years back that worked on ideas for future projects for the Jurassic Park and I saw sooooo many bits and pieces mixed into the new films. It was so disheartening to see original ideas stripped and used years later. Of course, many people can come up with the same idea. That’s not unusual, but still it’s saddening seeing so much work that literally has to have been stolen from the original creators.

This sound a lot better than the plot we got in fallen kingdom and dominion, I actually like the premise of JW and having the park happening even after everything before due to short memories and the power of money, not so much the plotline about indominous rex and militarised dinos. I think this film would have been really cool but I think some of the more fantastical elements like taming dinos be scaled down a lot. I like the idea of building a rapport with 'Blue' and her pack but I think there should always be that recurring theme of not being able to really control nature, and Billy having to contend with both a mercenary force and the natural dangers of the island.

If they did this, I think the bit that kills the Dinos vs Humans is that the Dinos are seemingly on a single Humans (Billy's) side for no logical reason in the climactic battle. So what might be best is if they just aren't. While Billy would be allied with the Raptors, I think it would be reasonable for the final battle to be a sort of stampede caused by the Raptors and Billy directed towards the Army. Add a T. Rex momentarily chasing Billy. Billy having to dodge the stomping of feet. Billy is on the Dino's side, but no one but the Raptors are on his.

Yeah it's unfortunate that Dominion didn't get all the love it wanted but I personally really loved it. I recently watched the first Jurassic Park and it really allowed me to appreciate the next 5 movies after that one (as well as Camp Cretaceous and Battle at Big Rock) in a way that makes me thankful I'm a Jurassic fan and that I'm alive with all of this here to experience. Also for the fact that it'd pretty fun to see how these stories have continued and how much hard work and development it went through. Either way, since Dominion ended on an open note, I think that there can be a lot of stuff to be told in the future regarding dinosaurs being all over the world. Thanks to your videos as well as others, there's so many ideas Universal can incorporate into a movie such as this video you made and maybe some of the Jurassic Park comics that had a lot of mainland stuff go on. I like this idea for a game/movie. It's different and unique in my opinion. I really enjoy watching/listening to your videos. Keep it up. I want more lol.

Theory on the t-rex assistance. A recent study claims T-rex was at minimum as intelligent as a dog if it's brain worked like a croc, with the potential to be as intelligent as a baboon if it's brain was bird like instead. That definitely makes it intelligent enough for it to hunt cooperatively with the raptors, as a potential path to the raptors domesticating t-rex.

Huh, back in the '60s when I was a kid, I had a DC comics "Star Spangled War Stories" issue about a WW2 fighter pilot shot down on a pacific island inhabited by prehistoric monsters. He had crash landed there as a child and had been raised by a flock of giant Pteranodons who still remember him, and, now, as an adult, he uses them as bait to stampede a herd of various Dinosaurs against a unit of Japanese soldiers. This reminds me a lot of that story. That painting of all the Dinos attacking the soldiers at 26:00 looks similar to one of the panels from that issue as the Dinosaur stampede bursts out of the jungle toward the startled Japanese troops.
