I imagine that research has been done showing that having to act like a bunch of imbeciles because your superiors(?) are a bunch of imbeciles is the proven way to create a fighting force. It appears the lower your IQ the greater chance of succeeding. They might be discouraging some very intelligent individuals from enlisting. Perhaps that is by design.

If you want to be a US Marine you will need to be able to put up with 13 weeks of shouting, just shouting from morning to night. Once the noise has died down you (and 16,000 women) can proudly call yourselves US Marines, and everyone is supposed to be afraid of you, why? because you can stand the noise and they can't.
Not 21,000 it's 11,000 Recruits per year.

The first 5 min is just a CFT. All marines do this, it’s not exclusive to sniper training. It’s a regular training requirement to pass one.
When real troops are in the Marines they are way harder and sergeant are louder and more firm

Shameful the way we've treated the Gurkhas. No citizenship, no equal pay. They're one of our biggest assets on the battlefield. The Germans were terrified of Gurkhas in WW2, thought they would be eaten by them if captured. Imagine inflicting that kind of terror in your enemy.
