I went through the Army version in '81. Called every name in the book. Pushed, shoved, grabbed. But the yelling pretty much stopped after the half way point..unless you really deserved it. First night some bonehead coming off the bus said " Hows' it goin'" to the DS. The aftermath of that mistake was epic.

I went through basic at the beginning of last year as a 12C. My platoon was the most squared away out of the company as we had actual ds's who put in the time to shape us into solders. the other 2 platoon's i cannot vouch for as they looked like the shit civilian was still in them during graduation. talking back to the ds's, constant attitudes. getting caught with contraband and phones, etc...if there was anyone who deserved to get beat the fuck out of, it was those guys

strong training for increases the resistance at difficult situations, and this training can save a lot of people making the difference between the life and the death

SSgt Mattingly was one of my killhats almost ten years ago. I swear to god, that dude was a fucking psychopath or some shit. I won't go into detail, but he was the guy all the recruits in my platoon were the most deathly afraid of. According to some of my boot camp buddies that ran into him later on, he's actually pretty chill when he's not in drill instructor mode.

That man at 9:46 is Gunnery Sergeant Darosa, he was a Drill Instructor but I met him as a motor transportation mechanic instructor, hes a very laid back man but also stern, one of my favorite instructors

Matt J. Owens the mindset is right but in training there is definitely a lot more yelling and cursing. Thankfully I went the full nine without my name even being know. But if you ask a question without going to attention then parade rest first those teachers would have got it terribly. They need to put the civilians who work on base like cif through the first week of red phase to be hired. Some of those people can be assholes and get off on watching recruits get in trouble. I seen a recruit get smoked just because one of the drills flirting with a nurse. The nurse told him the recruit was talking and drill went to work. It was like she got off to it lol

I got to eat afternoon Chow with one of these teacher groups while at Parris Island, I think it was like week 3 of training and I was hating my fucking life. We sat down across from them, and they told us about how they were being treated like actual recruits and how crazy it was getting yelled at. All I could think was, " OH REALLY. THEY YELLED AT YOU?!?!". Ate a shit ton of food though, was trying to ignore the chicken front of me and focus on devouring my 2-foot pile of lasagna.

Holy shit the one recruit is from Altoona Pennsylvania I live 20 minutes away from there

If you think it is hard to be a marine..you haven't tried very hard in life. If you think boot camp is your whole military experience you are probably a kid who doesn't know any better. They are not scary. Those that think they are obviously have done little. Their job is to motivate you. NOt intimidate and terrify you. Grow up pud.

When real troops are in the Marines they are way harder and sergeant are louder and more firm

I had a problem with this video,main two reason thy where smiling,and eyeballing the DI.As a SSG,in the Army Airborne this video,just was all wrong to me in so many ways.

If you go to college you get more opportunities such as higher civilian pay, better jobs and you can commission into the Marines as a 2nd LT. But good luck. www.marines.com

Gosh, when I was in someone eyeballed a DI and ended up doubled-over on the deck. The basic motto was bends and thrusts until the Pope turns Jewish or fifty-thousand miles, whichever comes first. These civilians wouldn't last 15 minutes in the real thing.
